Then again, about me teaching my son how to love.... shouldn't that be his father's job, since boys are more likely to learn from their fathers by emulating their attitude?

The problem is trying to hinge one on the other. Let husbands love their wives come what may and women submit to their husbands come what may.

The OP is emphasizing on the woman's submittion while excusing the man's inability to love is wife on the basis that she's not submissive.

The Bible mandated both parties to play their roles and did not give any condition whatsoever. Even the most unruly man wants submission when he's not playing his part and the OP is justifying it making them believe they need not be good. Wait for your wife to submit before loving her and even if you don't treat her right, suffer not yourself, she must submit.

The Bible has placed the man as the leader and Lord the house, no problem. How many men are ready to be a leader and not a boss? Don't forget that to be a leader, you'd have to serve your subjects first and always. I'm not denying that some women are poison as well.

But a biased writeup of this nature will do more harm than good. OP, your writeup is biased.

Since she must submit even if he's not worth it, do you agree that he must love and treat her right even if she's not submissive?

My sis you are right to believe my thread is biased but the sincere truth is that it is not.

The first step for a woman to live a happy life in this cruel world of men is to see herself as an endangered specie.Indeed it is a cruel world of men so if you refuse to submit because a man is not living up to expectation you will be the one to lose at the end and i have seen many ladies who think they are so hot and would leave their marriage in a jiffy but i always tell these ladies that its a move in futility because each man you meet will always have a character you must tolerate and when these ladies get to certain ages they become so vulnerable and lonely and will not mind to take worse shits.

I have my reasons for directing my threads to ladies more because if they can try to get it right then they will be happier. Men are stubborn and even if you preach to them,that crazy ego will still override them so the best is to preach to ladies who seem to be more receptive.

The issue of a man cheating will forever be a pain in the minds of many ladies but I'm so so sorry to tell you this truth that submitting to your husband is unconditional.

In submittion you can table your grievances and the fact that your hubby cheats on you is not a ground for disrespect. If you want to leave the union because of that then it's your choice but that must not make you disrespect him.

Your husband is your lord.

Oh so loving your wife is not unconditional? I'm sorry to tell you the painful truth in many men's mind is that a submissive wife is fast becoming a thing of the past and as long as men don't accept that, they shall continue to have broken homes and be divorced, twice divorced and eventually separated from their wives.
This goes for the women as well who are greater victims of this.

God can not be mocked or manipulated. When he tells the man, FIRST, to love his wife as Christ loves the church before telling the woman to be submissive, He who created us knows that what a woman needs is love and a man needs respect. One cannot exist without the other, it is humanly impossible. If you see anywhere it is happening then know that it is surface submission.

Only God can help today's marriage. The man that should till the soil is no longer doing so..now needs the woman to follow him and till the soil and still be calling him Lord when she is providing for him instead of the other way round.

Guys just need to realise that a woman is just naturally created just like them in emotions, intellect and exposure no matter what their Nigerian society tells them, it is society that molds and forces her to be quiet and allow you to talk.

Girls should also realise that they are at a disadvantage physically and biologically than men. And God created men stronger in other to protect them and their children. Though many men have abused this strength and have used it to harm instead of defending you, God still gave them that position of a protector. So no matter what, if you can't be submissive because he doesn't provide financially, emotionally or otherwise, be submissive because he is your protector in this terrible world.

And for the viewing public who have never experienced any problem in these regard, don't judge either party until you walk in their shoes.

For men, in this increasingly gay world, think of being under the power of a stronger man than you and being raped and beaten at his will and society will still blame you for it and support him.

For the women, think of someone you should protect and love constantly abusing, insulting, disobeying you or ridiculing you in the public and you are unable to touch them because society will give you a bad name. A home you are expected to control yet you can not speak freely or give directives and expect them to be obeyed for the good of the home.

In all things, for a marriage to succeed, both parties have to use their church mind or else...una go land for Linda Ikeji.

A good marriage is one nurtured in love and trust not with blind submission or fear. You can only submit to someone when you know that person loves you , cares for you and has your best interest at heart. It's like the same thing in the scriptures where Christians are to lay all their cares on the Lord and trust him. Why? Because he loves and cares for us.

When a woman sees that you truly love and care for her only then can she submit to you totally trusting you with her life.

The way my Dad respects my mum, the way he regards her opinion and she reciprocates this as well. They make maor decisions together and one party does not agree with something, the other party does not go ahead with it, they argue about issues and my Mum is allowed to express her displeasure even shout sometimes and my Dad has never raised a finger on her cos of that or treated her less than she desrves and they make up almost immediately after. U got it twisted bro. There's nothing more realistic than the Bible. Excusing pple's failures as reality is lame at best. The institution of marriage and of coz the world is in entropy simply becoz pple don't want to follow the instructions of the Bible. Difficult as it is to keep the instructions, it is the only peaceful & best way. Shalom!

My man is my Lord, my partner is my king. Do you know why I say so? Because he deserves it . calling him such names means he is matured and flexible. I have never disrespected my man and sleep well, EVEN when he forgives me. I don't have any issue submitting to somebody like that, in fact what can I hold against him? The issue here is, does the said man deserves a submissive wife? No body is perfect, of course, but it's wise to acknowledge that one will/may be treated as he/she treats others. There are way matured folks who still go out of their way give to reverence to those who don't deserve it, those are the people that can withstand major turbulence in marriage. Those are the people I can take marital advice from and learn from, not all these half baked marriage experimentalists, who lost the battle even before it started.

I still hold traditional values of marriage, and I prefer it that way. If I can kneel to show everyone who my husband is as tradition demands, then I will continue to kneel for as long as I can for HIM . BUT HE MUST DESERVE IT. Being submissive is a very small thing, it's just that many men enforce it with their bad characters. We are all human beings, no body loves being disrespected, irrespective of gender.

When a woman sees that you truly love and care for her only then can she submit to you totally trusting you with her life.

Exactly... By submission I don't mean fear or slavery.
It is the duty of everyman to love he's wife. Men should do this without any condition.
But there are parts of a man where the woman will need to submit fully to her husband. Thus doesn't mean the man does not like the woman or the woman.
The problem is women wants to be equal in authority to their husbands.
Men love your wife and women submit to your husband.

The man should expect submission and respect from his wife and the woman should expect unalloyed and unconditional love from her husband. Simple.

Though a boy has a lot to learn from both father and mother and not just the father.

Stop sounding like you're an authority or one who has monopoly of wisdom.

Your postulation is flawed to someone like me, because I believe that love or submission when given (earned or not), should be maintained so as to sustain it.

In my altruistic nature, every living human being is automatically qualified for my love, care, respect etc - free of charge - however, to sustain any of these free goodies from me (especially a wife) she must continually improve (maintain) on all virtues.

In summary, I say altruism plus reciprocation equal to a healthy and happy marriage.

It seems you prefer to be wise in your own eyes. You certainly, are not wiser than God. His ways are different from man's ways.
