Happy for success this is just a beginning for him... I still don't understand d kind loyalty naija fans de shout se de get for their foreign clubs at d expense of their own country. Vote for a Nigerian de're busy claiming they are not that good cos their club players are among d contestants. It baffles me this morning when I recheck my post after hitting FP soliciting for votes for Iwobi on dfront page of d Presidents speech's thread(I decided to put t there considering the numbers of Nigerians that will visit the thread today) but what amazes me most was that it was removed including few other mentions signifying that they've voted immediately it reached the Front Page. It seems d mod too de play politics with this one. I still don't understand what happened can anyone just explain t. Or e no good to celebrate our own again ni. |

This is horrible. Kanu should be no.1 on your list... Yet he neva won the AFCON. Yekini, Okocha, Finidi, Rufai, Amuneke, Amokachi, Chukwu, Odegbami all won the AFCON but so did Mikel... ![]() Kanu, Finidi are UCL winners and so is Mikel. We have Olympic Gold medallists in your list also in Kanu, Okocha, Ikpeba, Amuneke, Amokachi but Mikel won Olympic Bronze at least with a bunch of players who aren't even our best at the U-23 level. Mikel singled-handedly carried the team. #fact Okocha didn't have much club success. His accolades are so few. Same with Yekini.. His accolades are so so few yet he is Nigeria's record goal scorer ( a record that will be broken one day) and Nigeria's First Caf APOTY winner. I wonder why Vincent Enyeama didn't even make your "own" top 10. Lolll.... Of all the players on your list of top 10, only Kanu is more decorated so far than Mikel Obi both for club and Country. Chukwu, Odegbami and Okwaraji have never been to the Fifa World Cup sef.... Chukwu reckons Mikel to be one of Nigeria's greatest midfielders of all time (if not the greatest). So what sort of top 10 is this?? clefstone: |

Mikel expressed his delight at joining United in a hastily arranged press conference, where he was pictured holding up a Manchester United shirt bearing the squad number 21. Following his signing of the contract to join United, there were claims from Norway that he had received a number of threatening phone calls from unknown sources. Mikel was assigned a security guard and moved to a safe hotel. On 11 May 2005, however, the midfielder went missing during a Norwegian Cup game against Klemetsrud; he had not been selected for the match but had been watching from the stands. Whilst the player was believed to have left with one of his agents, John Shittu, who had by now flown in to meet Mikel, his disappearance sparked massive media coverage in Norway and also provoked a police enquiry after Lyn Director Morgan Andersen made claims in the Norwegian media that Mikel had been "kidnapped." These claims were later repeated by Manchester United's assistant manager Carlos Queiroz, who accused Chelsea of being involved in the alleged "kidnapping." Excerpts from Mikel's Wikipedia page. There was a kind of Mafia setting that led Mikel to Chelsea and he had to manage himself at the club. It was not as easy as packing his club and walking out of Chelsea. Some people do not understand the challenges before calling Mikel a coward. |

TheGoodJoe:Don't wanna involve in this argument because it is so puerile saying Mikel isn't in the list of our top 30. BTW, what do u make of Moses's new role as a wing back? Gonna improve the defensive side of his game and be beneficial to us on the long run IMO. Your opinion is welcomed |

Men..the pages have moved so very fast in the last 48hrs. Thanks guys for all the birthday wishes. So many arguments flying. But let me dwell on the Mikel's case. I know a lot of u guys expected so much from Mikel. More so that he was 2nd best player just behind Messi at the WYC. U should even ask urself "where is Taye Taiwo that came third". You feel Mikel should probably be 1 step behind the likes of Messi, Ronaldo or Neymer right? But football is not like that. I can categorically say it here that only 2 Nigerian players are regarded greater than Mikel in terms of status, recongnition, contribution to club and national teams and club and national team achievements. They are Nwankwo Kanu and JJ Okocha. Mikel to me is the 3 greatest. Vincent Enyeama and Rashidi Yekini come next in that order.Peter Rufai follows. |
