So to you, Ricardo Carvalho and Cudicini are bigger legends to Chelsea than Mikel. Na wa.

After Carvalho left, Mikel stayed on for the Europa League triumph.

Uhmmm.... Victor Moses has ruled himself out of the battle of Ndola with a hamstring injury according to reports.

If true.... Then I'm afraid we won't see the "in-form" Moses.
It's true, but it seems it's minor according to this;

When you look at that list, think of Mikel's contribution. Like when you look at Carvalho part from the early EPL triumphs now, Mikel was part of the team throughout Carvalho's triumph. Then Carvalho left in 2010. This is 2016, six years later and Mikel is still a servant of the club.

That is why I prefer a reasoned argument than just copy and paste. Take time and think. You will see Mikel is a legend.

Looooollllll....... We don wise up since naa..... They wanna use Tech on us, we'll give it to them "hot" with same tech.

I remember how I super-bombarded that site that saw us vote "super relentlessly" for Oshoala for the BBC World Women player of the year award.

Like Safarigirl, our Voting Commander says, "RASHFRAUD MUST NOT MAKE IT TO THE MOUNTAIN, WE MUST STOP HIM AT THE VALLEY....." wink wink wink

So Saddle up Soldiers.... We got more "voting bombs" to drop as in the days of Hiroshima and Nagasaki..... We must do the best that we know we gotta do.... And hey don't forget to use the "Vote-Donnarumma-strategy-to-keep-Rashfraud-away-from-the-mountaintop" when you see Rashfraud closing in.

Fire in the hole!!!!!!!

Joey Jones

Footballers were tough in the 1980s, but few came tougher than Joey Jones. The Welshman was a fierce competitor and wore his heart very much on his sleeve. It was his gutsy performances week in, week out, that endeared him to Chelsea fans and while he may not have been as naturally gifted as his peers, he more than made up for it with his passion and endeavor. A fine player.

Lolllll.

One of the players ranked above Mikel.

Branislav Ivanovic

Originally signed as a centre-back in 2008, Branislav Ivanovic has made the right-back berth his own at Chelsea. He is physical, but also offers an excellent attacking outlet, supporting the Blues going forward and grabbing his share of goals. On a personal level, his finest moment in a Chelsea shirt came in 2012-13 when he headed home the winner against Benfica in the Europa League final.

Branislav Ivanovic above Mikel?

Speechless.

Dunno who dunnit, but between last night and this morning, Iwobi has gotten over 200 votes and Kelechi over 60

Iwobi is 50 votes behind Asensio, I have no doubt we can push him ahead of him, Kelechi is ahead of Renato by just 2 votes, we should do more for him as well. City fans aren't eager to drop those votes cuz they feel it's more of a popularity contest than an actual reflection of player's talents (can't fault that)....

Anyway, good news is Donnarumma now has an 80-gap lead on Rashfraud, yesterday it was just a 30-gap lead. At least Italians are working hard smiley

Dazzling Victor Moses Scoops Man Of The Match Award As Chelsea Beat Hull

Dazzling Nigeria and Chelsea winger Victor Moses was named the man of the match Chelsea won 2-0 at Hull City.

The match incidentally was the Nigerians first start for Chelsea in three years as he had been shipped out on loan to Liverpool, Stoke City and West Ham United in the last three seasons but seems to now be enjoying a new lease of life this season under new manager Antonio Conte.

Willian and Diego Costa got the goals for Chelsea in what was a very tepid uninspiring encounter with Victor Moses the liveliest Player on the Pitch.

Moses kept having a go at the Hull defence slicing them open time and time again and even had calls for a penalty turned down when he was brought down in the box on 26 mins.

The 24 year old winger was given a rousing reception from the traveling Chelsea fans after he was withdrawn for Pedro on 85 mins.

Speaking after the match the Nigeria forward said afterwards he wanted more action with ‘The Blues’.

“I hope there will be more games for me to play in the future for Chelsea because they are a huge club, one of the best in the world,” said the Nigeria forward after.

The Nigeria star also said the win at Hull City was very satisfying for all those involved with Chelsea.

“We are delighted with the three points, the club as well as the fans. We are pleased,” he said.

I Was Almost Sent Packing By Arsenal: Alex Iwobi

Nigerian wonderkid and Arsenal rave of the moment Alex Iwobi has revealed that he was very close to leaving Arsenal on two separate occasions before he finally made his debut.

The 20 year old midfielder was speaking to London Evening Standard Sport UK.

Iwobi has been one of Arsenal’s standout performers this season but admits he was nearly released during his time in the academy.

“I was almost released at 14, again at 16 and just about got a professional contract after that,” Iwobi told the London Evening Standard. “Especially at 14, I thought I was very close to not making it. It was stressful as I was going through school, trying to balance that and make sure I was still signed for Arsenal.

“It was really difficult for me. We usually found out in December who might be kept on but I kept on getting the question ‘is he good enough?’ So they extended it to see if I could do something and it went to March and then April. Luckily I did enough.

“At 16 I got the option to leave but I always felt at home at Arsenal and that was where I wanted to be. At 16, there were a lot of good players, a few internationals in the team at a young age so it was difficult for me to stand out in the games.

They always want the best and I wasn’t really up there at that age.

Iwobi joined Arsenal’s when he was 7 and spent nine years in the set-up before appearing on the first-team’s bench in 2013.

He has now become a regular fixture in the Arsenal team and will be looking forward to another impressive performance as they tackle Burnley this weekend

Broke Nigeria order Euro-stars to buy flight tickets for World Cup Clash

by Samm Audu

Broke Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have asked Europe-based stars called up for the forthcoming World Cup qualifier in Zambia to buy their flight tickets.

The NFF have promised to refund the players when they fly into Abuja just as it has come to light that the players are now owed several match bonuses and other allowances.

“This is not good for our morale going into a big game lie the one in Zambia,” lamented one of the invited players when offering his reaction to the latest order from the NFF.

For last month’s AFCON qualifier in Uyo, the NFF had bought the players their tickets.

Their camp allowances for that particular match were only sourced from hosting Akwa Ibom State Government.

And even that was not without controversy as the players insisted the 10 million Naira from the Akwa Ibom Government was a gift to the team.

The Super Eagles are expected to fly out from Abuja to Ndola in the new week for the October 9 qualifier against the Chipolopolo of Zambia.

The NFF have already denied a media report that due to their crippling financial mess they may not honour the World Cup showdown.

Coach Gernot Rohr has called up 23 players, 20 of whom are based overseas, for the match.

They include several Premier League players - Mikel Obi (Chelsea), Kelechi Iheanacho (Manchester City), Odion Ighalo and Isaac Success (Watford), Ahmed Musa (Leicester City) as well as Alex Iwobi (Arsenal).

@Sir Icon4s,

You were right.

Coach Salisu Yusuf revealed that both he and head coach Gernot Rohr have adopted a 4-2-3-1 formation for the Eagles because that is what suits the team with the talent at their disposal now.

That means Iheanacho played ten in the Tanzania game.
Respect to you man. Not every one here has the boldeness to openly concede to an argument. You are a great guy. At least we are inching closer to knowin Rohr's stlye of play. wink

Iheanacho is really a great asset to the Super Eagles. With him in the team, you dnt necessarily need to make a substitution to change formation. He can play as a number10, Supporting striker or as a lone striker.

Success has proven to be a deadly weapon from the Right of the attack. Moses has been having a good run of play of late. Iwobi has been fantastic from the wings for Arsenal but has proven super efficient from the middle.

If we adopt the 4-2-3-1 against Zambia i would like the formation to look like this:

..........Iheanacho

Success....Iwobi....Moses.

If this team does not perform with this attack then we need to go beg "that mama we don put Super Eagles inside bottle".

Alternatively, we can make Success a direct replacement for Ighalo and the set up would look like:

..........Success

Iwobi...Iheanacho...Moses.

This formation would effectively utilize the potency of Iheanacho in edge of box shorts and killer final passes.
However, Success would be a debutant for that match. It is not likely he would be made to shoulder the responsibility of the lone striker for a game of this magnitude.

The earlier formation I proposed looks more likely.

Mikel Obi

Skipper Mikel Obi is now an injury doubt for Nigeria’s World Cup qualifier in Zambia after Chelsea boss Antonio Conte revealed the midfielder is injured.

“Mikel is out with a small muscular problem,” Conte announced Friday.

The Nigeria captain will as a result not be available for selection in Saturday’s Premier League clash against Hull City.

Mikel has yet to play a competitive game for Chelsea under Conte after he cut short pre-season training with ‘The Blues’ to feature for Nigeria at the recent Olympics in Rio.

It has not yet been ascertained if he would have recovered in time for an October 9 showdown against Zambia in Ndola.

Injury has already knocked out Germany-based defender Leon Balogun for the important qualifier, while injury-hit Gent winger Moses Simon has told coach Gernot Rohr he will be fully fit before the match.

Balogun has since been replaced by Uche Agbo of Granada CF.

by Samm Audu

Nigeria’s buildup for a crucial World Cup qualifier in Zambia is now in chaos as coach Gernot Rohr is now stranded in Germany, while top stars led by Mikel Obi are up in arms after they were ordered to fly down in economy class.

An order for Rohr and Eagles Euro-based pros to buy their flight tickets and get a refund was only made late Friday and so most of the players were caught off guard.

Officials said several players were expected by today, but after this late order, it is unclear when most of them will now hit the training camp in Abuja.

“Rohr is still in Germany after it was first agreed he will be sent his ticket before he was then asked to buy it and get a refund on arrival,” a source informed AfricanFootball.com

“The players have also been caught off guard by this order to buy their tickets.”

The players are also ready for a showdown with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) after they were told to travel only economy class and that is besides the fact that many of them were not refunded for the tickets they bought to fly down for last month’s AFCON qualifier against Tanzania.

Zambia welcome Nigeria to Ndola on Sunday, October 9, to kick start the final round of the qualifying series for the 2018 World Cup to be staged in Russia.

Algeria and Cameroon are the other teams in this tough qualifying section.

Watford boss scores Isaac Success 'excellent'

Watford manager Walter Mazzarri has described Isaac Success as “excellent” after the Nigeria striker scored his first Premier League goal to salvage a point at home against Bournemouth.

Seven minutes after coming off the bench, the 20-year-old Success, signed from La Liga side Granada CF in the summer, rose high to connect home a free kick to ensure Watford a share of the spoils on Saturday.

Mazzarri praised the young striker’s impact in the game.
“He is an excellent player and he has showed it in the past, not only today,” the Italian coach told the Watford official website.

“He can improve a lot in defensive parts, but he deserves it because every time he’s come on he’s showed he can help the team.”

Watford are now 11thon the table with eight points from seven matches.
