I thought no one noticed.
The nigerian ambassador should be able to intimate the economic team about cote d'ivoire's ability to stay afloat.
A country is excelling inspite of the economic woes surrounding it and people are not observant
This is no time for empty chest beating about giant of Africa
A giant is not made by size. Afterall, David killed Goliath

Cote D'ivoire 's population is just Lagos+ogun+maybe ondo... Naija's problem apart from mismanagement is the population explosion... If you make 50naira and have 10 kids to manage, you can't expect to live better than the man with 2-3 kids on same 50naira.

Bros , also never forget assimilation policy;which basically means France micro manages all former french colonies.

BTW, I've been to cote D'ivoire, they aren't doing better per capita wise.... They just aren't breeding like mice...

Nigeria is rich, thanks to Niger Delta. If we leave you parasites today, Nigeria will be like Mali. No doubt about it.

If we aren't buying woodin and the crude bleaching formulas from Cote D'ivoire, we are in senegal buying overpriced boubou or in Ghana trucking in trailer loads of Daviva/Akosombo ankara on an intermittent basis...

Benin Republic is virtually naija's 36th state, Togo's textile industry depends on this nation's patronage, and there are more examples of inter dependent commercial eendeavous... If naija isn't playing, WA isn't balling.

and some idiot want Biafra. when we can collectively rule the world.

It's high time we understood that most of our presidents are stooges of the Western world that wants Africa to be perpetually underdeveloped. If you refused to do their will, they will remove and choose another that will dance to their tunes. But what baffles me most times is how a person will accept being used as a tool to underdevelop his Country. The Asians are wiser, they didn't allow the West to dictate to them how their government will be run, and they don't accept being a tool to underdevelop their Country. I have no remorse or regret to say that our leaders are rightly beasts controlling the zoo as someone said.
The most annoying part of it all is that they travel, enjoy the outstanding civility of other places but can't even try to develop their zoo.

Some ignorant muthafuckers were comparing Nigeria with Kenya which is so ridiculous. Kenya is far better than Nigeria in all ramifications. In fact Nigeria is not even a third world Country but a fourth world Country. Third world countries have passed the stage of epileptic power supply, inadequate healthcare system as well as dilapidated road infrastructure, therefore any Country that has not yet passed the above stages are in fourth world category. The problem with Nigeria is that it places itself where it does not belong, as a matter of fact, Nigeria is a giant of any Country that's still struggling to give its citizens common adequate electric supply. Nigeria is nothing but an illusionary giant.

Ademat7:

Why?

Côte d'Ivoire economic plan The plan is based essentially on a vast programme to modernise and develop infrastructure, and on reforming key sectors such as agriculture – in particular coffee and cocoa, the latter of which Côte d’Ivoire is the largest producer worldwide, with about 35 per cent of the world’s production. Other key sectors include oil and gas, mining, finance and tourism. The government foresees that 60 per cent of the investment needed will come from the private sector.

Investors are already flocking to the country. Among the flagship infrastructure projects financed with foreign investment is the country’s largest hydroelectric dam in Soubré, in the south-west part of the country, built by the Chinese for a total of €360 million. Other key examples can be found in Abidjan, where the Swedish company ABB recently won the tender for the expansion of the Azito electric plant.

In March 2013, India’s Tata Steel announced it would form a consortium to finance the construction of a railway line from its iron concessions in western Côte d’Ivoire to the port of San Pedro in the south. In addition, President Ouattara officially inaugurated the Abidjan-Yamoussoukro motorway last December, which is financed in part by Arab investors.

France, the old colonial power, remains the largest foreign investor but Côte d’Ivoire is now eager to attract investment from other European countries, in particular the UK, and it expects that trade with the UK will double by 2015. This is why Prime Minister Daniel Kablan Duncan travelled to London in October 2013 for a bilateral investment forum, and another large investment event was held in Abidjan at the end of January, called ICI 2014 (ICI stands for Invest in Côte d’Ivoire).

President Ouattara has also made great strides in the international arena. As Chair of the Economic Community of West Africa (ECOWAS), he took decisive action along with France to counter terrorism in Mali last year. He is also a fervent advocate of economic integration among West African countries: “Our economies are too small to stand alone,” he recently declared in an interview with the BBC. “We need more integration to spur growth and development for all our people.”

It seems they are all doing decent numbers. I don't get why people here are boasting but their economy is in official recession. Theirs still lots of growth in region if you exclude Nigeria as laggard. Ivory Coast doing really well 9% is great.
