bring back the cup....LOL reminds me of Atlantic 96 team being told by Abaca to bring back the 'cup' instead of the gold medal.

I don't want to negative, super eagles haven't been scoring alot of goals lately, i see a score draw, may be 1:1

But as a Nigerian, i expect all 3pts for Nigeria, atleast 0:1 will be enough

Throwback Thursday – The 1994 CAN Final

Score 2-1 to Nigeria
Referee LK Chong
Competition Africa Cup of Nations Final
Venue TUNIS
Attendance 30,000

Tinisia 1994 CAN Final:

Twenty two year ago, Zambia played in the finals of the Tunisia Africa Cup of Nations tournament against Nigeria. Almost 12 months prior to the game, Zambia had lost the entire national team in a plane crush of the cost of Gabon. As SKG 11 put it below, this team led by Kalusha Bwalya made the entire nation believe again.

“Zambia drew the first game against Sierra Leone nil nil and we beat Senegal 1-0 in the quarter-finals thanks to Evans Sakala’s spectacular long range strike (although others called speculative) and then thrashed Mali 4-0 in the semi-final (Litana, Saileti, Kalu, Bubble). We were a bit fearful of the Malians after they knocked out the hosts Tunisia 2-0 and forked out Egypt in the quarterfinals. In the end, we needn’t have worried as it was a walk in the park.

In the finals Zambia went down to Nigeria by 2 goals to 1 in a match Zambia completely dominated in the last 13 minutes with Kalu turning the Nigerian defence upside down and he even hit the crossbar.

SKG 11

“What a game this was. Kalusha hit the bar from way way out and Nigeria were all at sea in the first half. Sadly , it was not too be… Remember one of the best goal keepers with a quiet and unassuming manner- James Phiri- was outstanding … God bless that 1994 unit!!! Helped wash away the tears and helped us all believe again!!!

Zambia XI v Nigeria

James Phiri – Mordon Malitoli, Aggrey Chiyangi, Harrison Chongo, Elijah Litana, Kapambwe Mulenga (Linos Makwaza), Evansa Sakala, Joel Bwalya (Johnson Bwalya), Zeddy Saileti, Kalusha Bwalya

Zambia Coach: Ian Potterfield

Nigeris XI v Zambia

Peter Rufai – Augustine Eguavoen, Benedict Iroha, Uchenna Okafor, Uche Okechukwu, Emmanuel Amunike, Jay Jay Okocha (Nduka Ugbade), Sunday Oliseh, Finidi George (Samson Siasia), Daniel Amokachi, Rachidi Yekini

In the photo Great Kalu beats Uche Okechukwu (5) and Augustine Eguavoen (2) as Jay Jay Okocha (10) trails behind.

Today: Kalusha Bwalya dream revenge today

Zambias greatest player of all time

Kalusha Bwalya:

Born on the 16th August 1963 in Mufulira, Kalusha Bwalya was named African Footballer of the Year in 1988 by France Football Magazine and was voted 14th in the 1996 FIFA World Player of the Year Awards.

He is the long standing leader and leading goal scorer for the Zambian National Team. From 2003 he was appointed as head coach for the Zambian team.

Bwalya played in six African Cup of Nations and was the Zambian coach for the 2006 edition. He currently serves as a standing committee member at FIFA, the Confederation of African Football and as President of the Football Association of Zambia.

Kalusha has played for some of the best clubs in the world and has achieved Africa's most prestigious Footballing Award of the 'African Footballer of the Year'. He rebuilt the Zambian National Team after losing all his team mates in the Gabon Crash. He captained his beloved National team as well as coached it from 2003 - 2006, during which time they climbed FIFA rankings by 11 points.

[s]Sorry I don’t do thread JUST to be on the front page I
1. Check my thread its insightsive
2. Factual
3. Verifiable
4. Analytical
5. And has all the relevant fact building up to any match (if its football)[/s]

I don’t compete with ANYBODY because am not been paid. And just driven by PASSION to give the very BEST of sports session(Nigeria football in particular, I don’t do European games )
I have been checking I have not seen any BEHIND the match facts nairalanders needed. So I decided to ‘DO IT”.
Not just to scramble a few words to be on the front page NO.
But if my work is worthy of front page then its ok but that’s not my goal. So ask anyone to beat me or find his place in nairaland. My friend temitemi1 is a guru in political session I just follow. And , Smellymouth master in romance session.
But me, sports is my place. Don’t beg me not to follow my passion. thanks

lets go there.. cheesy
You are missing the points. You are not a newbie here and its very disappointing.

Nobody is stopping you not to follow your passion, your build up and any other contribution must be an addendum to the older thread. Its not until you create a new thread. Your defence holds no water

when a thread is created
you should ask why is the person doing it (motive)

a) is it just to be on the front burner?.........most good people do that and miss out
b) is it a duplicate?................ if it is then no, but some can have "same story" but from different angle of the story
c) is it educative and informative?........... that a key to watch out for
d) does it have the criteria to be on the front burner?.............writing a story is not enough cos, there are several people that writes a story but the don't get to front page cos they don't know the criteria. (yes the criteria may be I will do a thread on that later)

like you said am not a newbie yes, so if I see any thread politics, romance or sports I can tell you spot-on if it will make from page or no.

I think you should rather ask what does it take..... not just to....

any way if you are a Nigerian lets focus on the match for now.

lets go there...
