Ask yourself. Why did the Children of Isreal in all their generations from Prophet Moses to Jonah, sacrifice animals(unblemished rams, goats) for the cleansing of their sins? WHY WHY WHY. THINK.

Sacrifice is mandatory. God told Moses in book of LEVITICUS. 'You shall give life for life, tooth for tooth'. The punishment for sin is death. Therefore they must kill by law in other not to be killed or suffer God's wrath.

God sent Jesus to pay the ultimate sacrifice which no man was qualified to. Since then, salvation no more requires animal sacrifice as in JUDAISM. Moreover through the sacrifice of Jesus, salvation has been extended to the Gentiles (Everyone not from Isreal).

The sacrifice of Jesus doesnt give believers license to commit sin.

Romans 6:1" Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? GOD FORBID".

When he forgave sin, he didn’t say it would be forgiven some time in the future after his death and resurrection. He said “your sins are forgiven.” sounds like present-tense to me. So if he could forgive sin without dying, why did he have to die at all?

1. Well, according to Jesus Christ, what He did was die in order to provide the lost sheep of Israel---- those cursed and scattered by God without a path to redemption in His Old Law --- such a path by which they could pay off their sin debt and return back to God. And this path to redemption was afforded them by the Passover Lamb, Jesus Christ much like the Passover lamb of Old - Exodus 12. - did.
