Here is my girl Ginger (The Prison & Chain Breaker) @ 20months. I was told by my vet to chain or lock her up in her cage since she's pregnant so as to less stress. so I decided to lock her up & always take her out @ night to do her biz. I usually underestimate the power of dogs generally but Ginger has proven me wrong. Starting from 2weeks ago on the 1st day after locking her up & then I went inside, she barked & barked but I pay no attention to her, after for some minutes I saw Ginger lying @ the entrance of my room as she normally does (waiting for me to come out) seeing her got me frightened so I went to her cage & got even more frightened as I couldn't find her escaped root. I then took her back to the cage & went inside to monitor her, she did the same thing backed & backed but this time I watched carefully & saw Ginger (The Prison & Chain Breaker) removing the roof of her cage & jumped out.

Day2, so many things was running on my head on what to do about the cage. Day3, I came up with a solution of using an iron for the roofing of the cage & I was very sure she can never remove that so I proceed to cage her on the 3rd day & as usual she would barked & barked but I ignored her. 4th & 5th day passed nothing happened & I was happy not knowing she has been busy finding an escape root. On the 6th day after returning from a site I saw Ginger playing around the compound & as soon as she sees me she rushed to greet me as she always do then the bordering started, I just knew that she has done the worst. I quickly droped my High Safty & went to her cage to find out what she did this time only for me to see sawdust beside her cage (she already ate off the hard wooden door) & this time I was more confused. |

The reason for all this tress is for her not to be playing too much so she won't lose the pregnancy. Since I brought her in as a playmate to my first dog pet Nellie, I've never force or lock either of them in the cage as I usually allow them to roam around the compound & also inside the house & they would go to the cage to rest whenever it suits them. While I was still thinking of what to do i removed the door of the cage completely & then i went to get a small chain (usually for local dogs as I had known) to chain her to the cage, I guess you already know the outcome? That one never even last for 30min. Still on a solid solution, I took out a very strong coaxial cable brought from a site (only if you know how strong this cable is) so i doubles it & used it to tie her to the cage for the mean time before I could find a solution. The following day being the 8th day Ginger was able to cut the cable |

Here comes the 10th day, as I went to a vet-shop to get a better chain, unfortunately on getting there I saw the chain I've always wanted but taught how crazy Ginger is then I asked the vet about the quality of the chain even tho it looks very quality on the outside & he told me the chain was an imported chain & that people that have bought it from him use it mostly for boerboels & have never come back to make a negative complain about the chain so with what the vet had said I proceed in buying the chain. I got home which was in the morning of the 12th day, I went straight to Ginger to chain her & after that I head to prepare their meal in the kitchen as usual, on getting to the kitchen with hope that I would have rest of mind I heard a noise coming from behind & just as I turned I saw the The Prison & Chain Breaker following me

Nice write up Bro...but u locking her up will not help the matter. As we all know that u can't learn to start something in ur old age. just reduce her jumping up and down. locking and she escaping is enough stress for her, just watch her she is still early in her pregnancy. Don't stress a pregnant dog cuz abortion can happen when she is stressed. |

And now I said to myself, who is the alpha here? Me Of Course! (Pikin wey say him mama no go sleep no go sleep self) I quickly rushed inside where my 15L gen was kept & I removed the chain I used to chain it a big chain at that with annoyance I went straight to Ginger & used the chain to chain her, now lemme see how she will break this one again I Said To Myself & if she do I will use the one for pulling trailer. But after some hours I went to check her up since I never noticed her roaming around the compound so on getting closed to her I noticed that the chain was kindda heavy for her, I pitied her as she was just lying calm outside the cage so I taught of getting same chain but smaller in size as I have found the solution already. So I proceed in getting the smaller size of the chain then I used it to chain her & the following day morning which was the 13th day, The Prison & Chain Breaker came inside to wake me up. Tried hard not to ruin my day with annoyance I just over looked her & went to work. I then got home in the evening & calmly went straight to where I kept the bigger chain & then went back to chain her up before she kills me with thinking. |
