can Nigerian especially the so called youths learn and realise they are far beyond thier classes, can they reason like the way I'm seeing things here?. can I call it an illeracy or lack or exposure?. I continue wondering if Nigeria can ever move forward in life due to their senseless way of reasoning on social media. have they ever sit and think that things shouldn't be in this way, do they want to continue to suffer running from pillar to post in the hand of our corrupted politicians for ever? can they just reason at once the huge amount of foreign currencies recovered from these enemies of Nigeria yet they want them not to be touch. u also deserve good apartments and basic social amenities which have been denied by this elements, please wake up from ur slumber have a new dream and think of new Nigeria is both in our hands. God bless Nigeria

That shouldn't stop the NBA from taking a firm action against the DSS / FG.

If they allow this go unchallenged then it will amount to giving up their right as an independent arm of govt.

The judiciary shouldn't allow itself be muzzled by the executive in the guise of fighting corruption.
The best way is to take them to ICC. Don't worry the days of his evil mentor Obama are numbered .He will vacate the white house for Donald Trump to come and clear his mess. He took this non democratic decision to intimidate the judges immediately after coming back from the United States. He should just put on his forgotten military regalia so that it will be obvious to us that we are in military regime. Country of the Zoo by the Zoo and for the Zombies

Corruption fight is good when it is fought holistically. For example Obasonjo should be arrested to account for Otta farm ok, Jerry lawrings of Ghana spared no sacred cow in his fight against corruption. That's how corruption should be fought, and not shielding you friends and associates; Buratai, Danbazau and co and witch hunt those you feel that are obstacles to your dictatorial system of government

@ san316 et al.

You don't understand the magnitude of the foolishness/lawlessness of these arrest.

If the Judges commit criminal offences they could be arrested - but procedure is long and involves NJC. But the Judiciary, just like the legislature and executive is an arm of government. And their affairs are regulated internally via procedures within their individual systems and are not subject to legal action - at the first instance.

Arresting a judge for unethical conduct or any other issue in relation to handling a case/trial is Legal Harkiri, it is haram.

It is even more stupid when you go after the heads of the Highest court/Judiciary in the country (Supreme court Justices).

Which judge will they present that kind of case to?? It will be thrown out immediately now.

Which judge/justice in the whole Nigeria is qualified to hear a case of unethical conduct in handling a case/trial/court proceedings committed by a Sitting Justice of the Supreme court??

When the Nigerian Judicial Council is there??

All they would have done is table their matter to NJC. It will immediately retire them or remove them from office - if the evidence is substantial enough - then you can re-package them for prosecution for "indiscriminate sneezing in public" or corruption if you like.

And when did the DSS become responsible for handling corruption cases in this country - abi EFCC don get ear infection toohuh

The only time DSS is empowered to make such brazen arrests and breaking down people's doors at 9pm in the Night; is only when it borders on National Security (that is what they are using to detain Dasuki indefinitely without trial and refuse to release him to court to answer EFCC trials).

You invade the house without a search warrant (I know they didn't have one because no Judge will give them a license to commit lawlessness) or arrest warrant (I know becase you can't arrest a sitting Judge of the supreme court); what stops the judges from denying the money and insisting that DSS broke into their houses and planted the money there and then demand damages or compensation for harassment in equal sum of the amount of money (or a part of it) alleged confisticated from their homes.

You don't enforce the law by the breaking the law. It could nullify whatever case you try to put up in court - that is assuming you are going to court - no matter how concrete the evidence is.

This is why this action is wrong; foolish, reckless, dumb.

Infact, even a zombie cannot praise this kind of action. Na complete imbe.cile, an imp, a simpleton of immense proportions go look this kind thing call am anti-corruption drive.

Plus has anyone even noticed that they are trying to say that the monies allegedly found on the judges, was bribe money issued to the Judges by both serving and past governors - from the PDP - in handling of certain cases.

I don't understand why people are screaming "illegality" or "illegal raid". People should google what a sting operation is. sting operations are carried out world over to prevent suspects from tampering with evidence or running away. The FBI does it, the FSB does it, why should our DSS not do it?
None of the judges, including that criminal Justice Liman has come out to deny that money was found in their houses or that search warrants were not produced before their houses wee searched. Why are people here now concluding that search warrants were not produced?
We should stop condoning corruption and corrupt practises in this country.
Abeg help me tell them oh like Inibehe Effiong said

We must draw a line between fighting corrupt judges and fighting the judiciary. We should know whether the issue is about procedure or the substance of the allegations against the judges.
We have to take a stand on this issue for the sake of posterity.

That's a possibility but the manner Buboo is going about fighting corruption won't result in bringing lasting solutions.

Impactful institutional reforms and deepening of present laws to further checkmate corruption are needed not media trials and trying to be Hercules show-offs by DSS/EFCC.

Such antics will never help this administration no matter how they try and confronting the judiciary head on will backfire.

What institutional reform is Nigeria lacking without political willpower?

Had Nigeria ever truly ever lacked policies, laws or prisons?

Recession: What recession? If you think Nigeria is broke, then you are living in another planet. Now, please read the information below and tell me why Nigerians crying of hardship are comfortable with the bold looting of their collective wealth by the politicians. #RevolutionLoading

A SELF DECEIVING COUNTRY CALLED NIGERIA

Twenty-one senators currently receiving pensions from government as ex-governors and deputy governors.

The current senators who once served as governors are Bukola Saraki of Kwara, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano, Kabiru Gaya of Kano, Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom, Theodore Orji of Abia, Abdullahi Adamu of Nasarawa, Sam Egwu of Ebonyi, Shaaba Lafiagi of Kwara, Joshua Dariye of Plateau Jonah Jang of Plateau, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko of Sokoto, Ahmed Sani Yarima of Zamfara, Danjuma Goje of Gombe, Bukar Abba Ibrahim of Yobe, Adamu Aliero of Kebbi, George Akume of Benue and Isiaka Adeleke of Osun.

The former deputy governors in the Senate are Ms Biodun Olujimi of Ekiti and Enyinaya Harcourt Abaribe of Abia. Danladi Abubakar Sani served as the acting governor of Taraba state.

Many former governors are also in Buhari's Cabinet as Ministers. This includes: Ngige, Fayemi, Amaechi and Fashola (SAN).).

In Akwa Ibom State, the law provides that ex governors and deputy governors receive pension equivalent to the salaries of the incumbent. The package also includes a new official car and a utility vehicle every four years; one personal aide; a cook, chauffeurs and security guards for the governor at a sum not exceeding N5 million per month and N2.5 million for his deputy governor.

In Rivers, the law provides 100 percent of annual basic salaries for the ex-governor and deputy, one residential house for the former governor “anywhere of his choice in Nigeria”; one residential house anywhere in Rivers for the deputy, three cars for the ex-governor every four years and two cars for the deputy every four years.

It is alledged that in Lagos, a former governor will get two houses, one in Lagos and another in Abuja, estimated at N500 million in Lagos and N700 million in Abuja. He also receives six new cars to be replaced every three years; a furniture allowance of 300 percent of annual salary to be paid every two years, and a N30 million pension annually for life.

This is the reality for all the 21 ex govenors and deputy governors who are currently serving as senators. This same is also true of ex governors who are now serving as Ministers.

NOW I ASK:
How many years did these guys serve their states as governors and deputy governors? Is it more than 8years? Is that a reason to be entitled to pensions for life? Even if they are entitled to pension for life, must it be so outrageous?

As if that is not enough: HOW on earth can any public servant with conscience collect salaries and allowances as a senator or minister, and still have the audacity to claim pensions equivalent to the salaries of a serving governor in Nigeria?

IT ISN'T ROCKET SCIENCE......

Once you are elected a senator or appointed a minister, you must forfeit any pension accruing to you from government at any level until you vacate office. This should also apply to senators collecting military pensions like former Senate President David Mark.
Yet these senators are in the Senate that is inviting the current finance minister to discuss the recession of Nigeria's economy. A senator pockets approximately 30 million naira monthly as salary and allowances. Our "honourables" are not interested to make laws that could restructure our country into economically autonomous federating States/Regions to save the country from sectional agitations that is threatening to destroy Nigeria. The sad and hopeless situation is that the rest of Nigerians are busy arguing based on party, ethnic and affiliations while these enemies of state continue to rape us.

Do you know that it costs tax payers 290m Naira yearly to maintain each member of our National Assembly in a country where nothing works & 80% of population earn below 300 Naira a day ? A working day earning of a senator is more than a yearly income of a doctor; it's more than the salary of 42 Army generals or 48 professors or 70 commissioners of police or more than twice the pay of the US President or 9times the salary of US congressmen.
Please say NO to looting of Nigeria in the name of democracy by sending this text to at least 5 others.
I think the country must have a referendum on salaries of senators. This must happen very quickly.

If the government can't we the masses must do something.
Re: SSS Releases Justice Ngwuta by ArabMopol(m): 1:52pm On Oct 09, 2016
Buhari shifts allegiance from one loyalty or ideal to another, betraying and deserting an original cause by switching to the opposing side militarizing Nigeria, No one man is good enough to enjoy absolute powers over others and that is why Nigerians chose democracy. The nation cannot afford to practice dictatorship in place of democracy for its inherent dangers. It has never worked anywhere. Let the fact, which is in the public domain, be emphasized: credible opposition voices are now muffled and hounded, “This is a government that does not know what democracy or rule of law means. The president is an unrepentant tyrant.”

So you see we are ruled by an illiterate who doesn't know anything about leadership.

The same immunity senators have with respect to activities that go on in the senate..................activities that happen in-house in the senate are immune from legal action or interference (according to the standing rules of the house) at least at the first instance. When the house committees on Rule and Ethics in the senate is still there??

The same applies to the Judiciary. How can you be arresting and preparing a Judge for trial over his conduct in handling another trial without properly referring the matter to the NJC (Nigerian Judicial Council) first??

I asked a simple question - you tactically ignored it, choosing to call me an ignoramus instead for lack of an intelligent way to express your sentiment/bias without looking like a naïvee child - or better still, take it and re-ask any lawyer you know personally the same question;

Which Judge/Justice in the whole Federal republic of Nigeria is qualified to entertain a case in his court on the ethics/conduct of a Sitting Supreme Court Justice in handling another Trial??

And for your information, it doesn't matter whether Osibanjo or Itse Sagay or whoever is a Professor. What is against the law is against the law. Period.......... angry

After all, Prof Sagay is a consultant on anti-corruption cases to Buhari, but yet they somehow managed to bungle Saraki's and Ekweremadu prosecution in court for forgery and now they have withdrawn it.............me and some Educated/well exposed gentlemen (and ladies may I add wink ) whey no be Professors of Law on Nairaland don talk am since say that case no dey go anywhere.

Whether Senate President or Deputy is responsible for clerical duties of providing senate rules to the house whey una wan prove for court say them forge am; una no talk. So tay, Omenka, PassingShot and other strangely-coupled bed fellows have to comment their reserve on the trial withdrawal. After them done make both mouth, hand, belle and yanssh for Nairaland upandan say Saraki/Ekweremadu dey go jail.

Dasuki's case at the ECOWAS court too bungled - they have also bungled Dasuki's EFCC cases and that's why they will make sure Dasuki doesn't make the EFCC trials before the 2019 election otherwise, Buhari's popularity will tank and enter 6ft below the ground and he may lose elections.

Dasuki is detain indefinitely under a spurious allegation of threat to National security by DSS, after them use Media trial to find him guilty of stealing $2.1billion. Meanwhile, the total sum on the charge sheet is roughly $370million.

It was Dasuki's case he used to start this witch-hunt which is now christianed as an infamous Anti-corruption drive (without spare tire may I add)................. angry

Does that mean Prof Sagay is so dumb, that he didn't know to advise them on the best way to secure a conviction for Saraki/Ekweremadu or even Dasuki?? And who told you sef that Prof Sagay has prior knowledge of this brazen and foolish arrest?? huh

I repeat my question; Which Judge/Justice in the whole Federal republic of Nigeria is qualified to entertain a case in his court on the ethics/conduct of a Sitting Supreme Court Justice in handling another Trial??

When you find the answer to that question, then you will understand why there is even a thread for such madness on Nairaland........................................................ and your current level of education/exposure would have improved by 2years (part-time diploma in law).....shiioooooooor!!................. angry
