Good day guys, It's really nice reading through the thread. I'm a Mechanical Engineering 400lv student, I'm in my 1st semester and I'm to commence IT/SIWES(Industrial Attachment/Intern) by next year from February to September. I have a close family friend(he's like my uncle) who's also a Mechanical Engineer in Calgary and he said I could visit him and start my IT. He's a Permanent Resident, but my question is. What kind of visa should I apply for and do engineering firms pay internship? Thank you! |

Every other supporting documents you make one photocopy, and not two as it is widely spread here...and anyone that submitted to two copies should let's us know. 4.Make sure you have all your cic forms complete...because to go and print over there no be beans, esp that business centre beside the submission stand they can rip you off. 5.Study permit area, where you are to fill in your employment experience for 10 years, please fill them properly,as it caused alot of argument over there. 6.Please when going for submission, take A4 paper in case you want to correct anything....as one is #30 over there. 7. Admission letter one original and 1 photocopy Note; Take it easy with the staff...as i cant understand them whether they are not happy that you are applying...i still don't know...as you need to prepare your mind that they can ask you to go and re-arrange your docs over and over again, just have t be patient with them as it remain small make i fight for there o,na because i don promise baba God say i no go fight again but not on money matter o. |

V.O is one if the last things you should be bothered abt for now ... V.O is the visa officer. Get admission first and then you can think about the V O and ways to "capture" his heart. For U of S, check ur departmental website for "pre-app' form (it is not compulsory though it is for ur own good). Fill the form, then the form will be distributed to their faculty members (supervisors) to pick the ones they feel are 'qualified'. If you are picked, you will then be asked to apply formally. NB: Being asked to apply formally does not imply automatic admission. Apart from the faculty members, the graduate studies committee will still review ur app to see if you met thier requirements. Also, if you do not get a supervisor, don't bother applying to Saskatchewan, it is as good as throwing $120 in the bin. It is clearly stated there that even if graduate studies committee decides to give you an admission, if no supervisor accepts you as his student then it is as good as no admission. |

Riddeek:To the bolded, I would like to disagree, because while I was applying I sent mails to professors and I was told when I am being considered for admission, I would be attached to a professor. So saying that I guess should be department related, don't state it categorically, for college of law,it is not compulsory, they'd give u a supervisor when your application is being considered. Thanks .goodlucknand God bless |

That's an image of the faculty of law requirements as regards supervisorship.

tysaxmalomo:you are right, i just went over the requirements for graduate stidies, some dept don't bother but others like ECE overbother. |
| Re: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by Nobody: 6:56pm On Oct 12, 2016 |
Riddeek:lemme chip in here, for university of Saskatchewan, more especially for Electrical and Computer Engineering, their MEng requires a supervisor but before then, you have to contact the department which they will mail you their pre-qualification form to fill and submit.onces you are assessed and considered, you ll be mailed/contacted to carry on the legitimate online application which is not yet 100% guarantee that you would be accepted but most atimes it a positive step forward that you may be considered. |
| Re: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by yemdogg: 7:45pm On Oct 12, 2016 |
michV:I think whether they require a supervisor or not....it is always advisable to contact potential supervisors before applying or even after applying ...build a good relationship with em. You could name them in your application. It doesn't hurt try anyway. What's the worst that could happen. |

tysaxmalomo:I am also applying to the faculty of Law of usask. I contacted three professors and one associate professor and all of em are ready, willing and motivated to supervise me during my LLM at usask. They all told me to apply formally and mention them in my application.....infact right now sef I don't know which of em I would mention. I sent them my CV, transcripts and writing samples etc. I read their profile, some of their works, I even sent some of them my current research on corporate governance and she was excited and she even critique my research proposal and advised I include my preparation to undertake a graduate programme in my statement of intent. This is not a guarantee that I'd be admitted buh certainly I have gone extra mile to show that indeed I am motivated to pursue an LLM at their institution. Heather heavin is one of the supervisors ready and motivated to supervise me.... Guess what...she's the LLM program coordinator. Which means she's in the grad admissions committee. So I'd advise you colleague to colleague try to contact two or more professors. N.b they don't respond to mails on time... Buh don't be discouraged they will eventually revert to you. |

First get a company in Calgary to formally offer you an IT (internship) role, and then you can talk about applying for a visa with CIC. It is extremely unlikely that they would give you a visa for the sake of you going there to "look for a job". Maybe your uncle can link you up with a company out there, or you can find one yourself. Cheers. BeansAndBread: |

Riddeek:I seriously gbadun this your research supervisor letter o. The only thing is that the plagiarists will come out in full force to copy most of it word for word, replacing only the terrorism-related parts with their intended course or research area(s). Kudos bro/sis. ![]() |

yemdogg:My research thesis is on the Nigerian approach to Boko Haram: need for a change. If I'm going by professors in my line of research, they are few and far between, except I just send to them anyhow, that's where my problem is, few are lecturers and researchers in Public International Law. |
| Re: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by Riddeek: 9:29pm On Oct 12, 2016 |
tysaxmalomo:Seriously So a research-thesis can be related to boko haram... I never knew sha... Ignorant me! |

tysaxmalomo:Yh very few. My thesis is on the efficacy and practicability of corporate governance in the corporate sector: Emphasis on the Nigerian corporate law practice. |
| Re: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by yemdogg: 9:39pm On Oct 12, 2016 |
Riddeek:Why not....? U just have to relate to research area or field. Boko haram crisis can be related to; International law, Human rights, Security law, Peace and conflict etc. |
| Re: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by Nobody: 9:59pm On Oct 12, 2016 |
With commendation, just to make a little input. Boko Haram if to be used under international law must be narrowed on the effect or impact of the international law as an instrument. In a nutshell, there must be a nexus using International law as part of the variable which will greatly design the research under international law dimension as a form of terrorism and part of global insecurity. yemdogg: |
