A Message To Gays in Africa...

For the past few months,I have noticed lot of people have joined 'The Gay Supporters Club of Nigeria'
after reading their comments on gay related threads on social media.
What has gotten over us mehn!
I am now of the notion that Nigeria is gradually turning to a gay infested state.
I'll only take this set of people serious if you can tell me you are a product of a love affair between your father and his man friend or between your mother and her woman friend.
Ignorance is when President Obama supports same sex marriage but is still sticking to his wife Michelle like glue.
Same sex addicts has no place on this continent..Deal with it.
Big up to Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe and his Gambian counterpart Yahya Jammeh
for their no nonsense message to gays in their country.
We are Africans,we nor be craze people.
If you want to join oyibo craze, craze your craze alone and don't remain for us.
The earlier you realize that Supporting gays will not land you free visa to America,
The better for you.

What are we looking for?
God has created and given us another chance but we want to destroy it again after Noah's experience.

The question every homophobe chooses to ignore is this: what happened to gays before the passing of the law? You can't tell me they never existed in Nigeria when even the bible made mention of them.
Back in the day as it is still practiced in some tribes around the world gay men well as effeminate gay men were married off to masculine males as part of their harem. The more hands to take care of growing babies the more chance of infant survival to see adulthood.
Google is a good friend for the ignorant. Anybody who disregards this fact without google only wants to stay uninformed.

And since when did Jamaica become a 1st world country capable of dictating how people should be treated over Human Rights issues??

Let me even ask you. Between Jamaica and other countries that accept gay people, which ones do Nigerians frequent/relocate to the most? Your guess is as good as mine.

This shows how deluded your thinking is. So supporting same sex relationship means he should also be gay So if a white person supports "Black Lives Matter", he also must be black? I'm not surprised though. schools in Nigeria don't teach people to be logical.

this is just the beginning of the end

Nigeria itself is already experiencing the beginning of its end, and it has nothing to do with gay people.

The worst part of this whole thing is that Nigerians would flood the embassies of these same countries that accept gay people wholeheartedly. Why don't you all call back your so-called straight family and friends back to Nigeria, and let the gay people be the ones leaving the country since they aren't accepted in Nigeria? Or you think we would love to stay in this god-forsaken hellhole of a country?

When I heard the kind of rubbish lies these same so-called straight people tell just to get visa, it's even more depressing. The US, UK and some other countries have made it easier (so to speak) for gay people to relocate to their countries when/if they feel threatened in their home countries, but no, the same hypocrites that come here to spew trash are same ones that would go and lie and do all sorts, all in the name of moving to these same countries they so much hate for their stance, hence making it harder for the genuine ones to move.

They go to these same countries and overstay their visas, even taking up jobs as male strippers in gay clubs (I saw that in the UK), yet come online to spew trash.

Nigerians, gay people are not your problem. If a gay person approaches you, simply tell him/her you aren't gay and move on with your life. If the stupid law wasn't in place, it would be easier for gay people to interact with one another without fear.

I pity the ladies the more, cos more and more gay people are marrying you ladies, all for the acceptance of society. Meanwhile they still keep their real boyfriends by the side. Two guys I know just got engaged recently. Who am I to tell them what to do? The society already requires that from them.

Peace.

@embolden I think you should pity the society more not ladies.. Because both gay men and women are faced with this dilemma and are both made to conform to societial pressure..

It all boils down to this. Comformity to this pressures breeds dysfunctional families. Which offcourse would invertedly affect social construct. So It should be both ways.
Or you don't think married gay women don't keep girlfriend's too?

Your guess is Good as mine. smiley

You digress. We're talking about gays in Africa, not the world.

There are gays in Africa before the coming of the white man, so I heard, but such practice was and is still seen as a taboo.

If you ask me, the quest by gays to be accepted by all and sundry, by fire by force, makes them just as bad as Christians and moslems.

Even in the West, where such laws are legal for gays to marry, there are still dysfunctional families, even among the LGBT.

The thing is, gay or not, social construct or not, people should learn to do what makes them happy, in accordance with the law.

...and your proof lies where? Knowing the African system of one village builds a child it's more commonsensical to assume gays were accepted by society to serve as padding to female members when raising a child. Don't forget, in times when men go hunting and the women are left to fend for the home homosexual men serve a more ferocious opposition to attacking clans than most females can deliver.

If you ask me, the quest by gays to be accepted by all and sundry, by fire by force, makes them just as bad as Christians and moslems.
This only occurs in western nations. Here in Nigeria they were content being under the radar. Bringing up the matter out of nowhere to distract Nigerians from ongoing massive corruption only lead to witch hunting amongst the masses.

My proof lies everywhere? Lemme ask you the same question, where is your proof that gay men where left to tend to babies in traditional African society. And which African society are we talking about?

Like I said, homosexual men were never accepted, I believe eunuch's were, never homosexuals. And you should know, not all men were hunters, some where farmers, fishermen etc.

I repeat, there was never an African society were all the men in a village were hunters.

This only occurs in western nations. Here in Nigeria they were content being under the radar. Bringing up the matter out of nowhere to distract Nigerians from ongoing massive corruption only lead to witch hunting amongst the masses.
And who brought up the matter? And who told you Nigerians are distracted by the quest to homosexuals to be accepted.

If there is any thing that distract Nigerians more than any thing else, is poverty and religion, not homosexuality like you said.

SalomonKane:
My proof lies everywhere?
I hope this is an honest mistake. "Your proof lies (is present) where?" means "where is your proof?" not "your proof lies(false) everywhere"

Lemme ask you the same question, where is your proof that gay men where left to tend to babies in traditional African society.
I thank you for this question because it made me search google for proof of a concept touched on from a reliable source. The sources I'd post would touch on this to a minor extent. It's funny, the religious books we hold strongly aided the destruction of our pre-colonial historic literature thereby limiting my research sources.

And which African society are we talking about?
Every pre-colonial African society shared one thing in common: warfare. Tribes which deal in warfare find ways to make use of every member within the society. The listed African countries include Nigeria although not touched into fully due to lack of historical resources.

Like I said, homosexual men were never accepted
After colonialists discouraged acts of homosexuality common to Africans they termed 'unnatural'.
We're propagating the white man's old day ideal and sticking to it.

I believe eunuch's were, never homosexuals.
A whole different subject which would require a new thread and different sources. Stick to the topic and from now on we'd site using sources -- no longer opinions.

And you should know, not all men were hunters, some where farmers, fishermen etc.
If it involved long hours away from tribe settlements we can well term it hunting. Farmlands weren't located in the immediate settlement and neither were rivers; the men had to move from point A to B.

I repeat, there was never an African society were all the men in a village were hunters.
Right to an extent because warriors were not hunters. However most times of the day the settlements were left without the protection of men.

And who brought up the matter?
Illiterate politicians looking for ways to distract the masses. Seeing gay rights were receiving acceptance in developed countries raised their dictatorial heads against progress amongst their own citizens. Not the first or last time religion aided as a tool to shift citizens' minds away from widespread corruption ongoing during the period.

And who told you Nigerians are distracted by the quest to homosexuals to be accepted.
With the many vocal arguments against acceptance of homosexuals by mostly illiterate citizens this is fairly obvious. This thread is only one out of many duplicates if nairaland is used as a context.

If there is any thing that distract Nigerians more than any thing else, is poverty and religion, not homosexuality like you said.
Which is the reason we follow the daily happenings in the political scene and pastors feed fat off ignorance.

Now, my little research has shown homosexuality was very common in pre-colonial Africa. All attempts to narrow the viewpoint to Nigeria were futile due to lack of pre-colonial records on the subject. I've come to realize something so prevalent in multiple African nations have shown we are not so different and if anything colonization worsened interaction between ourselves (countries) than bettered it.

https://www.theguardian(dot)com/commentisfree/2014/mar/08/african-homosexuality-colonial-import-myth
It is mentioned here males married gays into their harem (as I mentioned earlier) well as many instances of accepted homosexuality in different African contexts including Nigeria.
