The greatest speech of the 2016 campaign was not by Hillary or Bill Clinton or Barack Obama or Donald Trump.

That honor goes to Michelle Obama, whose demolition of Donald Trump and his blatant sexism and lack of fitness for the office she highlighted so superbly.

Here are some of Michele's inspiring words delivered in New Hampshire about Trump’s sexual innuendos and actions.

“The fact is that in this election, we have a candidate for President of the United States who, over the course of his lifetime and the course of this campaign, has said things about women that are so shocking, so demeaning that I simply will not repeat anything here today. And last week, we saw this candidate actually bragging about sexually assaulting women. And I can't believe that I'm saying that a candidate for President of the United States has bragged about sexually assaulting women."

“And I have to tell you that I can't stop thinking about this. It has shaken me to my core in a way that I couldn't have predicted. So while I'd love nothing more than to pretend like this isn't happening, and to come out here and do my normal campaign speech, it would be dishonest and disingenuous of me to just move on to the next thing like this was all just a bad dream.”

Michelle Obama can distill to the very essence the most important part of the argument. Her speech here like her stemwinder at the Democratic convention was clear, direct and devoid of jargon. If Hillary orated like that she’d be twenty points ahead. As it was, women loved the speech landing Trump in even deeper trouble with the female vote.

All of which leads to the inevitable question: does Michelle Obama have a political future? I think the answer is a resounding yes.

Forget the protestations that Michelle and Barack Obama can’t wait to leave the White House. They may well be as ambitious as Hillary Clinton and Bill were. Consider this scenario as outlined to me by a leading Chicago political operator:

"Barack intends to make money, lots of it,” said the source. He will cash in for about two years. He leaves a highly popular president and perhaps the greatest writer of his political generation. He will raise enough money for a run by his wife if she wants to.”

Meanwhile, back in Chicago, Senator Dick Durbin will likely run for governor in 2020 or retire (he’ll be 75) leaving open an Illinois seat in the US Senate seat.

Hello Michelle Obama. She will be 56 and have a world of political experience behind her and would be a shoo-in a senate race. Does this sound familiar? Oh and the Clinton two term presidency would be up in 2024.

How ironic it would be after having an African American president followed by a woman we were suddenly looking at a African American woman president. Now that would be historic.

Waiting for my homegirl to run and my family and I will vote for our South Side lady in a jiffy. She is very articulate lawyer who graduated from an Ivy League college. Hope she runs for the senate when Dick Durbin retires. We Progressives needs her passionate voice but I doubt she will run after the rigors of the White House.
