shysteve:If it is already water damaged sorry there's nothing u can do about it. Water can damage both the motherboard snd the touchscreen. If its only the touchscreen u have no other choice than change it. The only time rice and silica gel work is when it just happened, that's before the water an damage the screen or motherboard. If the water stayed too long inside the phone then its probably too late. |

greenhulk:You've got some valid points here, especially the tricky procedures required to dismantle some of these phones. (but real technicians has the skills and tools that makes it easier) But this rice thing is being over hyped, when it can barely achieve anything for the a phone submerged in water. The only time rice might be of little help is when you're trying to remove moisture and it has to be in an AIR TIGHT CONTAINER. If a phone is submerged in water and you're able to switch it off, no further serious damage will occur even if it takes 48 hours to get it to a qualified technician. |

Decodedp:Putting the phone in rice or silica gel for several hours can dry the water inside, there's no guarantee ur phone would be back to life but u have a great chance. And water inside the moderboard can still damage the phone even while it is powered off. Rice woukd still help to dry some if not all of the water before taking it to a technician. |

New solution is that when your phone falls into water quickly bring it out hit it on the ground 3 times, pour red oil on it and lick it off with your tongue and look for a burning fire and throw it inside for just 2min , the phone will be alright, you can thank me later ![]() |

greenhulk:Rice my foot! The absorption is not something that could be achieved in 10 mins. This is not theory....its what we see everyday. Disconnect the battery by any means as soon as it happened else you ll fry the board. |

femi4:Oga how do u plan to disconnect the battery of galaxy s6 or htc one m7 or iphone 6? If u dont have the tools and not a pro then u are on ur own. Nobody is talking about 10 mins here, and I dont even see how u can remove the battery of those phones I mentioned in 10 mins, not even by he technicians we have here. Absorption takes hours but it works. |

shysteve:The price is on the high side. Though I know galaxy s6 tohcscreen cost between 45-55k depending on wherr u go to. I expect s6 edge plus to be more expensive. |

THOSE OF YOU SAYING BAG OF RICE IS FOR REMOVABLE BATTERIES DON'T KNOW SHIT. Lemme tell you a story. I once used Tecno P9 (tablet). slept in my hostel only to wake up to see my tablet inside a deep bucket of water filled to brim. Those of you that know the tablet would know it's battery is non removable. I didn't know how long it had been in the water but when I brought it out, the two speakers were no longer working. the screen began to flutter. I began to panic. I opened Google to get a solution and that was when I came across the bag of rice. immediately, I opened my roommate's bag of rice and dipped the tablet in. the rice was so much as it was a very big bag of rice. I went for lectures and came back. when I checked the phone, the water around the edges of the screen were gone. both speakers resumed operations except the sound was a little disoriented which was restored permanently to the way it was 6 hours later. It was the biggest miracle I had ever encountered. So, speaking from experience, bag of rice is the best option for a non-water resistant non-removable battery phone. Though, after that event i never bought a phone without water resistance. But it's an experience one can learn from. #peace |

Coincidentally I have the experience this morning with my Camon C9. It fell inside the Convenience WC. What I did was to immediately pull it out, switch of, remove the back case and start to shake out water that might have entered. After all done, I then kept the phone in rice and kept in my car. When I got to office just to shake it and see if water will drop out, I notived I have mistakenly powered it on. What I noticed was that the caliberator stopped responding. Since caliberator isn't responding, there is no way I can switch off because Camon C9 does not force shut down The next thing I did was to remove the iron covering the battery and disconected the connector and reconnect, tarara, it started to caliberate. So I disconnected it back and kept back in rice and inside the heat in my car for about 3 hours. And now I want to believe its okay as it is the phone that I am using to comment. |
