good evening,
my Toshiba harddrive of 1TB has been working fine till this evening,I don't really know what happened, when I plugged the harddrive into my system it makes that number sound,but I can't see the Hard drive space capacity in file explorer and when I go to disk management,it show that my disk has not been initialized.please I will be grateful,if any suggestions can be provided on how to make my hard drive show on my file explorer.

You can try opening the hard disk bay, removeit and clean the teeth den fix it back

Try to run a chkdsk from cmd.

Not much you can do about it..initializing will erase the hard drive.

thanks for the tip,but whenever I try to initialize,a dialogue box pops out telling it can't be done because of I/O error.please do you have any idea how I can initiasize the drive and the drive keeps making a clicking sound.thanks in advance

I believe it's an external hard drive, hope it didn't fall down before this start happening?

in situations like this, two things are involved. The Hard drive is either damaged or it's connector (USB or SATA) is faulty, your computer can simply not detect it anymore. Please try testing the mentioned Hard drive on another computer or Laptop and let me know if you observe any changes. Also, I need to know the manufacturer of your hard disk drive.

If it's making such sounds then it's possibly damaged already, fixing of hard drives is done by companies who refurbish hard drives and I don't think we have them in Nigeria...

Best advice is to get a new one...

Yes! In most cases, it can't be fixed, and even if it does, it will fail again. Am sorry but at this point, it's best you buy a new one, "Seagate" to be precise. The sounds you hear are from the magnetic tape inside, trying to spin and read properly. Remember to always keep your Hard drive in a hard disk enclosure, this protects it from dust and other environmental elements. Am sorry I couldn't offer much assistance.

Thanks boss,I deeply appreciate your input.I will go for the Seagate when I have the money,I cant afford to loose my files and documents again.thanks once again.
