Banks need to take the issue of fraud seriously. I don't know the essence of BVN if all these fraudsters cannot be traced. The fraud desks in banks should be collaborative and help stop these fraudsters.

Please ensure your dad is okay and he doesn't dwell too much on this. God shall restore his loss.

my dad was jst scammed of almost 700k right nw by some1 with this number 08146196707

He was sent a fraudulent bank email. Which responded and called the contact number which pretended to be bank customer care.

He was convinced to fill out a form in the email and that was how he strted receiving alert.

We have called the bank customer care and they have blocked the acct and said they'll investigate and also said the one of the withdrawals was traced to a sterling bamk acct.

pls wat more can we do, pls any idea from anybody pls

they should call sterling bank to place a 'post no debit' on the account so the fraudsters can't withdraw the money

SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME SOME MONTHS AGO ON MY ZENITH ACCOUNT.
OVER 500K WAS MOVED FROM MY ACCOUNT AND THE ALERT SEEMED TO BE COMING FROM FRANCE.
IT WAS AROUND 8PM ON SATURDAY OR SO WHEN IS STARTED GETTING THE ALERT.
I FUCCCCKING RAN MAD.
I IMMEDIATELY CALLED CARD SERVICES AND THEY BLOCKED MY ACCOUNT.
AFTER ABOUT 2 MONTHS OF INVESTIGATION, THEY RETURNED THE MONEY BACK TO ME.

I THINK SOMEONE CLONED MY CARD SOMEWHERE.

THE BANK WILL INVESTIGATE THOROUGHLY. THEY WILL MOST LIKELY REFUND YOUR MONEY. JUST LEAVE IT TO THEM OKAY!!

Get a police report and go to the network office to get details of the person like those the person called with the line with that u will get the person

I thought banks used to inform all customers not to respond to any e-mail or fill online form with their personal bank details? The money can be recovered if banks are to do their investigation diligently.

Oh my days! Abeg make sure he's fine 1st o,so we don't have double wahala. All these scammers. Up until this evening I've gotten one of such scam mails from GTB. I've also gotten from Diamond,eco,zenith,and acces,how can I possibly run all these accounts,am I Dangote? Loool! The moment you try to click the link provided,it unearths the real link.
I pray they are able to help him recover it mbok!

Since the funds were transferred online, the owner(s) of the receiving account(s), have questions to answer.
Head to the police station and lodge a complain

I doubt if there's any other thing that can be done at the moment, the bank has blocked the account and that should stop further transactions permanently. Leave the rest for God.

We keep stressing on this same issue, yet people still fall victim. Let's educate ourselves, notwithstanding.. I won't be surprised if it's first bank

It's not greed. The scammers will tell you that your account has been blocked. And ask you to fill the online form for re-activation.
So it's just you thinking the message was truly from your bank (or from CBN as some of them claim) and wanting access to your funds back

If police would help out that would be nice

sorry for the loss....however, there is hope that the money can be recovered. use a dual-pronged approach....get the bank to follow-up on the sterling bank account since it was an online transfer and also get the networks to work on the line from which the sms was sent (not the line your dad called o!). all the best.

You dad should go to Efcc, it will and can be traced. That's the truth . He will recover it provided it was transferred to a know account
