All you guys starting to go around the world, good luck to you. I hope what you come away with is that prayer and Jesus Christ mean little or nothing if you don`t have good leaders.
All of you should also know that UK is the only English speaking country in Europe and this matters if you are from English speaking country. English is widely spoken in Holland and the Scandinavian countries but English is not their official language.
As far as work is concerned, don`t deceive yourself expecting office work anywhere in a non-English speaking country, 95% of times it doesn`t happen.
Goes without saying that if you are in Holland and stay in their big cities, things would be more expensive for you. The big cities in Holland are Amsterdam. De Hague, Rotterdam and Utrecht. Generally speaking, work is difficult to find in the North, that is around Gronnigen area, but if you are in Delft you stand a better chance around Brabant. Enjoy Holland, it`s one of the best-run countries in the world with zero level of corruption and official criminality that is common in London and USA.
I mentioned it elsewhere, if you want to live in Holland after your studies, better start going out to meet Dutch girls to get married to.. Good luck to you all

I lived in Holland and left there long ago, so won`t be able to help you on Austria. If it`s the case that you are in Holland and trying to cross to Austria, I don`t think you would have much problem because, if I`m not mistaken, Austria is part of Schengen. In case you are in Nigeria contemplating which non-English speaking country to go, it`s my humble opinion that you should limit yourself to Holland, Germany and the Scandinavians unless of course money is an issue. When you go to any of these countries to study, you can be certain that you will never go to any countries that are better run than them, I think that is an added advantage. I would also advise you to only go to a non-English speaking country if you don`t have the opportunity to go to the UK, US, Canada, Australia or New Zealand.
Wherever you are going as a prospective student, also try to learn something like barbing while in Nigeria, that might come handy as a source of income before you sort yourself out. Sorry that I couldn`t answer your specific question. Good luck

Hello sir!

Do Holland universities accept NOUN(National Open University of Nigeria ) 100level transcript?

I am also planning on writing A-level exam in Nigeria. Is that okay for admission into Holland universities?

Thank you.

Hi

Not there at the moment so won`t be able to give you an answer that is 100% relevant. One thing you have to know is that most of the undergraduate courses in the Netherlands are run in Nederlands or Dutch, so you may want to find out what the present situation is. Most Nigerian students are there for their masters which are mostly done in English. One thing I remember is that many Nigerians got to the country when I was there and started a degree with the British Open University, which has a branch in De Hague. The only problem with that is, it may not help with your resident permit.
I also know that certificates from Nigeria used to be well respected there, although that was already changing before I left. I would still like to believe that a Nigerian certificate is not going to be a total minus or something you won`t be able to gain admission with.
By the way, I think you wouldn`t need a rigorous exam or a transcript from Nigeria before you can start with the Open University in Europe provided that course is in English. Good luck!

Wrong! I'm student of Utrecht Uni, The Netherlands. Currently on study abroad to UK. Graduating in a couple of months. Getting an office job is possible without learning Dutch (I will advise that y'all learn it though). And the new rules regarding post study work make it easy for students to stay behind and contribute to the Dutch work force. Search Zoekjaar on Google for guidelines.

Why do you argue on things you're not sure of? I study at the Delft University of Technology, Netherlands and yes the school apply and get your visa approval from the Netherlands, if you meet the financial requirement which is either through your having being offered full scholarship like my own case or you have transferred the required fees to an account in the Netherlands.
When your visa is approved in the Netherlands, the school tells you to go to your embassy to pick it up. Its that straight as they will only ask you what you want to do in the Netherlands and thats all. Your visa is normally 100% guaranteed except there are inconsistencies in your application
Concerning admission, if you made a 2-2, forget about it and also I know people with GPA of 3.9 that couldn't get admission in my school and University of Twente. But if you have 3.8 GPA out of 5.00 and abve, you can apply for admission.

Hello 2good. Good morning. Are you back in Nigeria?
Are you working? Sorry, for my many questions. I'm just very curious.
Is it true that the weather is always rainy? Did you experience racism?

No I don't live in Nigeria. You cannot be successful in the west as a professional if you are so concerned about the kind of questions you're asking. You need to have thick skin if you want to work in an environment where you will be one of the few blacks around because that is the kind of environment most black professionals work here in Europe.
Weather and racism are petty issues because there is nothing you can do to solve them. Winter can be very very harsh so you have no option but to adapt. Infact if you have to go offshore North Sea to work, be ready to experience -25 degree temperature during winter months when there are strong wind/ storm blowing across the North Sea.

Let`s talk percentages! What would you say is the percentage of Nigerians in The Netherlands that work in offices without passable knowledge of Dutch?

Hello house, I've just been contacted by the IND that my Visa has been approved I was asked to pick up my MVV at the Lagos embassy cos I filled in Lagos as my pick-up venue. so on getting to the Embassy I was redirected to Accra or Cotonou please I need your honest advice on the following
1. if I need to legalize my birth certificate before going to
Accra or can it wait till I finally travel
2. if the Visa can be granted in Accra since I was originally directed to pick it at Lagos
3. if I can go to Accra without previous appointment cos the next appointment is in November 22 and I'm suppose to resume on Nov 1st.
Please I need an urgent answer from anybody in the house Thanks.

Hello and thank you to all that have contributed on this thread. Please i have a question about Netherlands admission/maintenance visa requirements. I just got my admission at a Netherlands University.

Can i put the maintenance fees of 10,350Euros in my Nigerian bank account, then print out my bank statement after one month and then immediately remit same funds to the University for my tuition fees. This way i can pay my tuition fees and also have my bank statement available. Is the embassy going to call the bank to check if the 10,350Euros is in my bank account after i paid my school fees? Or they just want to check that my bank statement is valid and the 10,350Euros was there as at the date i claimed it was there on my bank statement.

I will appreciate a response from anyone that has done this before without any problems encountered or anyone that has gone past the maintenance visa requirements stage and gotten their Netherlands student visa.

Thank you.

Hello emmerks. I have also been accepted to Fontys. I would like to know if you had any problems because of the Bank Statement they ask for.
I have made the payment(Tuition fees, Visa application fees, insurance and deposit for IND) but I'm worried that they might decline my visa application because of the Bank Statement. Everything seems to be in order on my Bank Statement(three documents) but I would like to have some reassurance. I did the bank statement with the same money that I used to pay the school. I would like to know if that will be a problem.

@xkris11 and @pdesmond1 , I would very much appreciate your help as well.

Thank you everyone who contributed to this thread, it really helped me, but some of the regulations seem to have changed now.
Please reply as soon as possible. Thanks.
