NORTH VS. SOUTH: WHAT A DISPARITY IN PRIORITIES? Almost ten years ago a sultan died in an air mishap on his way back from an education forum organized by the Obasanjo regime in Abuja. Today, 8 new private universities were established in the South while the North is celebrating the ten year anniversary of the ascension of a new sultan in grandeur. Out of the 61 private universities before these new ones, only nine are in the north. Three in kwara, one in Adamawa, one in Taraba, one in Kogi, one in Nasarawa, one in Benue and one in Katsina. We are always either addressing the wrong people or addressing the wrong issues. Definitely a region with the highest unemployment and stark poverty has no cause for celebrations. There is an urgent need for reorientation and re-prioritization for the nation to harmonize! Don't be deceived, this disparity in education, development and economy is one of the genesis of terrorism from the North. Therefore TERROR it's the making of the whole society either by action or neglect. When you see them fighting it's only over who is sovereign? when the true power is somewhere else. n present use dis as a tool 2 keep
them in bondage so dat dey can
steal dia resources blind in broad
daylight. north has only one
problem- they hate to be told
the truth. They havent got the
ball to face their shame. See
how many people trying to
deny the obvious here. Such a
pity .The problem with the
North is their leaders..they don't
encourage education at all, the
highest their leaders can do is to
push dem into army,police and for
those who can't join the uniform
men,they buy bike for them for
okada.Majority of them don't believe
education is a necessity,only those
from good background see it as a

This is very true. Unfortunately they don't care about that, all that matters is power. Power is supposed to be a means to and end(in this case development) but so far so good it has been an end in itself to the northerners 1 Like |

Why shouldn't it be this way when the population doesn't value education. They economic angle is because they are busy leaching allocations from productive regions. The northern regions are against reforms like fiscal federalism. Let's look at cattle herdsmen issue. The issue is desertification. Instead of trying to tackle issue with irrigation and technology. The people cry for national grazing reserves to leach ounce more. When NE redevelopment bill was brought up leach state kano was included even though most of fighting didn't occur there and little damage happed. If they focused on education and work programs they wouldn't be so quick to join terrorist groups in my opinion. 1 Like
