That is a typical LiePod bastard for you. They display gross stupidity the turn around to attach the SS to themselves. South Southerners aren't this useless, we know the people responsible for all that stuff on the forum.

Per Op, frankly, the "political relevance" of these offices depend on their occupants. For instance, you certainly couldn't compare Ken Nnamani to Atiku back then much the same way (in reverse) Saraki appears to wield more power than Osinbajo.

Sometimes, you could even have a vice president stronger than the president or the Senate president wielding more influence than the president- take Jonathan and Mark for instance.

So, it all depends on the occupant and not really the position itself. But when you talk about constitutional powers, of course the Vice president wields more than the Senate president.

Senate president of course...

The Senate president answers to no murrafucker except his mind...

But can you say so for the Vp? Your answer is good as mine...

Besides the man and his fellow afonjas are praying and wishing buhari dies in office so their afonja son will be the president... But the Northerners are too magical for the prayers and wish to come true...

And SS and SE are also praying for buhari to remain hearty, bc we can tolerate buhari but for an afonja, is a no no
You see what hatred has done to this one, no wonder you still live with your old parent at the age of 46. You blame afonja for every miserable thing rocking your life. I just pray you dont kill yourself soon. Smh

The American System Ȋ̝̊̅§ not so... as VP, You automatically become President of †̥Ђe Senate.
Re: Vice President Vs Senate President: Who Is More Politically Relevant In Nigeria? by Diplomaticbeing(m):
Many a time, the personality and political clout of the person that occupy the VP position do determine how powerful or not he's. I remember vividly Atiku Abubakar as a VP compared to some of the SP's of that era.

Well, in this present dispensation, I'll say Saraki is more powerful than Osibanjo and the reason isn't farfetched, Saraki has a bigger political clout and intimidating personality (superficially).

Please between a vice president an a senate president positions in Nigeria, who I more influential and politically relevant in Nigeria?.

Please reasons for your answers would highly be appreciated.

Thanks
The Senate is more like a lame duck with no executive powers.
If you talk of influence it is relative....
The Senate do check and balance on oversights and make laws.
And they give approval to some strategic appointments for the presidency....

The office of the Vice President controls some executive powers.
And is usually the head of the economic council.
Depending on his zeal, audacity and tact he can either be viewed as very influential or otherwise.
Former Vice President Atiku was very formidable and influential than the Senate President of his time.

But based on the political hierarchy. The VP is number 2 and the SP is number 3.

Imagine who will be more influential if Tinubu was Vice President?

In Nigeria, it seems to be the Senate president.. Someone told me the president is the number one citizen, the Senate president as 2. Chief Justice as the 3Rd, vuce president as the 4th..

I won't call u a dullard because that is an understatement but Saraki is the true definition of afonja I.e Yoruba/Hausa mixture. I wish God can help you let go of hatred because it won't get you anywhere

It's funny that those who want to turn this thread into a tribal dick comparing contest have somehow forgotten that both the current Vice President and Senate President are from the same tribe. What's more, if there is anybody that can be truly described as 'Afonja' it is Saraki.

As for who has more influence: as it is currently it's the Senate President. Although the constitution says it's the Vice President, it is obvious even to the blind that the vp is eternally in the shadow of the President and serves at his pleasure which is what you get everywhere else in the world.

This OP is a learner (like his type that have created this same thread in the past)

The thread is a deliberate attempt to malign VP Osibanjo.... The objective is to paint him as a lame duck & shoot daggers his way...He ain't slick.. cool
If truly he wants to know, he should cast his mind back to Atiku during Obasanjo's era & like you pointed out, IB the clueless 1 is another example... If we want to be facetious, we can take it lower & point out PYO acted for 2wks a couple of months ago & got to enjoy all the trappings of the office, something we are all aware, Saraki would have given both arms, legs & a kidney for.

In the American system that we claim to have modeled our disastrous system that we practise self deceit & claim it is democracy does not have a seperate SP, the VP is the head of the senate.... We just love to duplicate roles so the largesse can get around...
the way Nigeria is modeled to favor the northerners, the vp which must by default be a southern lot if a northerner is the president cannot be allowed to control an important instrument of power as the senate.
remember when zik was president, the the office of the president was just ceremonial but when he left ,the office was overloaded with functions and duties.
it's a broaddaylight robbery for the north to control both the legislature and presidency.
we southerners are educated fools and cowards especially those at the West of Nigeria.

The Senate President is more relevant...the Vice President has no portfolio and can actually be rendered useless by the president undecided
