Asked what happened to the 2008 Gas Master Plan, Kachikwu said: “If the gas master plan was that fantastic how come we don’t have changes in that sector? “People who did the Gas Master Plan and the Petroleum Industry Bill did a huge work. These are contradictory statements ![]() Mr Minister, the Petroleum Ministry sits in your plate, and that of your Oga, the President. What have you people done since you came onboard 18 months ago apart from increasing fuel prices and endless "We will", "we intend", statements. The PIB bill you met still remains unpassed. You characterise your own refineries as "scrap". If an individual like Dangote can muster enough gut and resources to build a refinery, what prevents the mighty Federal Govt from doing the same, under whatever funding arrangement. We hear this same Federal Govt that says it has no money to build new refineries has promised Dangote all the forex he needs to build his private refinery. What an irony!!! Meanwhile, small Kenya that does not have oil is busy importing cheap oil at current low prices, and refining it in their refineries and making exporting the refined products. Ghana is refining all the petroleum products they need in government owned refineries. Our own ministers and government officials are whining and running from pillar to post. If they are not in China tomorrow to beg for money, they are in America or Morocco to blame other people and nations for their incompetence. We understand the clueless, dull looking Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun is blaming the America and the Western powers for blocking Nigeria from building coal power stations. So what stops Buhari from building gas-fired power stations to utilise billions of cubic feet of gas flared daily in Nigeria. What happened to all the NIPP gas-fired power stations at Alaoji, Egbema, Calabar, Ihovbor, Geregu, Omotosho, etc started by OBJ and progressed by GEJ govt? At least Americans are not blocking us from completing those. When will they all be commissioned and connected to the national grid? |
