Where are all the Oral English geeks in the house? Now is your turn to shine o and say “I told you so!”

How many of you recall when the popular Peak Milk sachet was introduced into the market? The ad campaign to us was pretty fun we’d mimic the lady’s voice whenever Momma handed us one each for breakfast.

“Peak now comes in a sachet.” Please, we grew up pronouncing it as “Sah-chet” not “Sa-shay.” Then we got to secondary school and got the shocker of our lives when it was pronounced as the latter.

Till date, most of us make these mistakes, especially when we visit the neighborhood kiosk asking for ‘Tin Tomato Sachet.”

Only the divorce puzzles me at times.

I pronounce all of them right except satchet lol.

Very educative! Thanks for sharing this piece. There are lots we pronounce wrongly in this part of the world. Hopefully, with a thread like this we will improve on our pronunciation.
