Thank you so much feddy27, danzak and orirebaby. I actually feel better after reading your comments. The way some people ask you question when they see you with formula can be alarming. They act as if it's poison

You are welcome dear. But you have to learn to give befitting response if you cannot ignore such questions. The truth is that you do not owe anyone any explanation s on what and how you feed your baby(except your DH,of course).
For example, when people ask me whether I do EBF, my response always is that I breast feed him, case close.
So dear, your concern should be how to take care of your baby so that he/she grows up to tell you that you are the best mum in the whole world. That is what matters the most.

-- how about buying normal 3k christianing gown instead of that posh 10k gown that the baby will wear and outgrow in a month tym.
I can go on and on.
We can be saving small small money even if it's 1k, 2k weekly, before the next immunization is due, the money would have been complete just incase DH starts telling you story on the day of immunization if you request for the money.

Christening gown na once dem dey wear am na grin

The importance of these vaccines cannot be over-emphasized.
Valeriechima ensure your baby gets bcg and polio vaccines before people start to visit. Its free in local government health centres.

Seriously you get the picture. I was scared I was doing something wrong o. Thank God for mamas Here.

Another question, please what can I do to boost breast milk supply?
If you did economics in school you would understand the statement "breastmilk supply is based on demand"
The more you feed and pump, the more your supply. Just ensure you take lots of fluids while at it.

On the doctor's recommendations for cradle cap (noticed my son's scalp was dry and flaky and his front hairline was receeding...so we went to see his doc).
Put olive oil on the scalp and leave on for 15mins
Use a fine tooth comb to gently massage the scalp and also comb up the flakes
Then wash hair with selsun blue shampoo (active ingredient is selenium...dunno if that is what sebamed has too) and slightly towel dry
Apply hair oil and comb.

This should be done once a week for 2 weeks...I.e twice.
Healed my boys scalp instantly... Now we are patiently waiting for his bald spots to grow back

Good Afternoon Mummies in the house. When is the best time to start making baby's hair?
My daughter will be three months next week and her hair is full and is it true that it must be trimmed at the edges first. Thanks

My darling teamie, good to hear from you. Fedora is fine, my love to olaolu.

Sweetie, don't beat urself or feel less of a mother cos of EBF. I'm also doin mixed feeding and dat has been my decision for both babies. There is no medal for EBF! For combination, I feed formula at least 3xs a day. In the morning, after bathtime I give formula so she can sleep for long. Inbetween it's breastfeeding. Around 2-3, I give formula again, inbetween breastfeeding. Around 8-9pm b4 bedtime, I give formula. All tru the night, I do breastfeeding. The important thing is that baby is well fed.

Don't mind them, so those babies that lost their mother during child birth should not eat or they will bury them with their mother for EBF.

I tire for people's opinion over someone else baby as if they love him/her more than the mother.

No need to trim, you wan turn baby to ibile (village girl)?

You can start using those small fancy rubber ring for babies, not plaiting, seems they call it puffpuff style. Always fine with full curly hair.

If you can find it a "Doidy cup " is great. That is what i use You can google it but in all honesty, You really dont need any special cup. Just something transparent so you can see the the level and that you dont over tilt and spill water over her.

You can simply use the cover of her feeding bottle.
(that is what i do when we are out of the house)

Most disposable transparent plastic cups have quite a sharp edge, although rolled is not always out of reach. And may injure her as she doesnt have much control over her tongue yet when drinking from a cup.

Dont worry she will get the hang of it. Just keep offering her the water from a cup.

That was how my friend almost bought 13k suit for less than 3 months old baby just for dedication, I was the one that advised her against it. She told me her next baby will use it and I ask how sure she is that she will ever have baby boy again apart from that one.

She thanked me later!!!

My DD used the christening gown i used as a baby for her baptism...... plenty sentimental value!
If i have a boy! He will use the same gown.....
If prince george can wear a dress for his christening..... then its fine... grin

I dont even buy anything that is pink!, every thing needs a re-use or re-sale value. All in unisex colours as much as i can get away with it.

I also carefully wash and package everything,
all clothing are bagged in order of size.

I keep all the manuals - everything from bouncers to toys.

Tie all screws or fasteners and ensure they are tied or taped to the main pieces so you can find for future assembly.

Keep the carton if i can and put it back in the cartons if i can.

It amazes me that people ask what a baby under 6 months eats and whether it matters EBF or not!

The only reason i will personally ask a mum if she is breastfeeding is if i am about to offer her alcohol! grin

Awww...how nice @ your christening gown. Wished I still had mine. Used part of my mum's wedding dress, and the feeling was great... Actually, all babies use christening gown in the past...it is all this civilization fashion...so pls let our dear BB AlphaHand...rock his gown...

We are same o...I wash and package all my clothes, labelled 3,6months et al.keep all manuals, screws, bowls et al. Nothing must waste.

My dear, I don't give room for anybody that feels his/her advise is wat I must follow. There is no competition in parenthood. Do what works for you and helps you maintain your sanity.

For water, I don't have any particular time bt most times I check wen she's thirsty. How I know is that her spit becomes thick so I offer water.

180mls at 3mths is ok. Attached is a feeding guide from aptamil that I follow

I feel you on keeping things neatly so they don't lose value.

I plan on giving out everything as fast as I can. I feel there'll be more value added that way. Especially to close friends and family members. E.g I already gave out my breast pump to a friend who I felt needed it more than me, as soon as lo turned 4 months. I told her I would collect it back whenever me or someone else needs it. Let my 150 euros investment not go and spoil for lack of use.

Plus I'm not a sentimental person sha. I did not even buy a special cloth for lo's christening. Wore him something nice he had already. What mattered to me was the spiritual aspect of the baptism.

I dashed out my two wedding dresses before my one year anniv. Way better than risking them being eaten by moths in my mom's wardrobe.

It's just me sha, but I've always tried to guard against possessions. And then there's the law of karma: whatever I give, I'll receive twofold. Afterall, 50% of all what lo has came as gifts. I bought 45%. The other 5% I loan from family as need arises.

This is what the cup looks like. Not sure where or if you can find it in nigeria.

But as i said its not an essential item. More like a "nice to have".
The benefit is that it is easy to see the level of liquid inside as it is slanted. And lo does not need to tip too much to get at the fluid hence minimising spills plus the handles are also great as the child gets older

That being said. ... a transparent cup will kinda do the same work (minus the handles). Hence the suggestion of the feeding bottle cover.

I went to Balogun and got 2 pretty white dresses and socks for Baptism. She looked pretty, everyone loved it. If I could have used my Baptismal dress, I would have.

I think a lot of people get caught up in the "you must spend so-and-so for your kids" mentality. There is a lot of "have you bought this, does your child have that" going around and it only gets worse by the time they go to school. I have seen the party packs that come back from my nephews' and cousins' friends birthday parties and I am stunned at how much the parents spend. The worst I attended was a 1st year birthday party...with Photo booth, souvenir stand, 4 different caterers, a DJ, professional photographers, an MC and a cake stand, all themed. And all I showed up with was a card... cry

Don't mind Naija parents, out to show off constantly and compete. There was a particular fellow who thought the "competition" between his daughter and Baby E was so fierce, he applied himself diligently to the "competition" so I had to avoid him.

"oh baby E was 3.2lbs at birth? My girl was 5 lbs! Oh she had more hair at birth than now? Well, if you had seen my daughter's hair, so full! Oh she doesn't want to drink milk at 5 months? My baby drinks soooo much milk and is so fat! Baby E is standing at 8 months, my girl is already sitting at 3 and a half months"

Haba.
