GrizzlyBear:Thanks this comes closest to the most logical answer, if there is no after life, there is no essence to live and will open a whole lot of other questions. I will take this and move on to my next question when I feel the time is right. |
| Re: No Afterlife? by Proudlyngwa(op): 4:36pm On Nov 21, 2016 |
donnffd:Yes my thought is on the destination, if the destination is futile, why the effort on the journey, some people are most result oriented than process oriented. If the result of 1% input is equal to 99% input, whybthe stress |
| Re: No Afterlife? by Proudlyngwa(op): 4:39pm On Nov 21, 2016 |
Lennycool:Actually its not about me. Thanks for the time though, grizzlybear has done justice to the question. Not that I agree to it. GrizzlyBear: |
| Re: No Afterlife? by Nobody: 4:43pm On Nov 21, 2016 |
donnffd:There is no objective essence. The description you gave of the essence of life is subjective. The contents of the story line of life is vanity and futility. All we are ever going to do is struggle and survive, and if we are lucky, some happy moments in between, but these happy moments pale in comparison to the sad and painful moments that we'll all experience, and then at the end we die. What's the point of commencing this journey when you already know that it has a bleak end? |
| Re: No Afterlife? by Nobody: 4:43pm On Nov 21, 2016 |
Proudlyngwa:Well, to be honest; there's no reason to exist. We are simply a mesh of cells, a mound of atoms in an uncaring universe. But then again; people feel that is too bleak and find purpose for living. These purposes, although not convincing from a logical standpoint; tend to stick with people. That's why I said there are no answers, only possible reasons. |

Proudlyngwa:if you believe life is all about yourself then why not move to an island and live alone without communication with anybody? if you believe life is all about you and you alone then there is no point trying to convince you.. because you will feel everything is supposed to center on you.. no insult intended . but if you realise that life isn't all about you and you alone, then my points will make a lil sense |
| Re: No Afterlife? by Proudlyngwa(op): 4:47pm On Nov 21, 2016 |
SirWere:Thanks another logical answer , it will be included in my next question. Thanks again. |
| Re: No Afterlife? by Proudlyngwa(op): 4:55pm On Nov 21, 2016 |
Wilgrea7:You are missing the point, its not about me, but about self, "self" in this aspect is everyone. Am not talking about what you can do for others, why or why not. What I mean is if 1am is equal to 11pm, why go through the stress, when you are fully aware it is not worth it . It might be rosy for you and you feel, you can impact positively on humanity. But there are people who are way, way ,off they know the have no impact what so ever, and they know there is no afterlife, what then keeps them going, when eachbstep grows the pain. |

Proudlyngwa:It is simple, the main purpose of life is for you to breed and keep the cycle going. |
| Re: No Afterlife? by Proudlyngwa(op): 6:02pm On Nov 21, 2016 |
kingkaspa:Don't you think that's harsh. |
| Re: No Afterlife? by donnffd(m): 6:25pm On Nov 21, 2016 |
GrizzlyBear:Ofcourse i know that, just seems the OP is relentless, so i just gave him straight |
| Re: No Afterlife? by donnffd(m): 6:26pm On Nov 21, 2016 |
Proudlyngwa:Ok simple, kill yourself...(saying that in mild irritation, i dont actually mean that) |
| Re: No Afterlife? by Proudlyngwa(op): 6:30pm On Nov 21, 2016 |
donnffd:Nah I won't do that, because it's not about me. Remember I said I believe in afterlife. This topic is just a series of topics, I will mention you when am ready for the next set. |
| Re: No Afterlife? by kingkaspa: 10:20pm On Nov 21, 2016 |
Proudlyngwa:It maybe harsh but the reality is everything we do is to keep our specie going. |
| Re: No Afterlife? by Wilgrea7(m): 7:54am On Nov 22, 2016 |
Proudlyngwa:sorry i didn't reply earlier.. you're talking about self... yes.. its almost the same thing... self is developed around and by other people either for good or for bad... and that self affects the people it develops from.. so if you're talking about the benefit to self, it becomes tied down with other people.. naturally when self makes people happy, self becomes happy too... as long as its not at his/her detriment.. there is a joy.. a warmth.. a feeling that comes with making people happy. and whatever good works you do, will follow you to the grave and follow your loved ones.. except that ‘self' has no loved one.... the fulfilment of self comes greatly from the fulfilment of others... cuz as self develops, the development is influenced by others and also affects the others. that's why i earlier said life isn't all about self.. its more like a colony... making things work |

How would an afterlife add more meaning? |
| Re: No Afterlife? by juicydiceyjoe(m): 9:14am On Nov 22, 2016 |
GrizzlyBear:Why have fun when you know the fun will still end? Just enjoy the journey, the present, the now. |
| Re: No Afterlife? by Nobody: 9:22am On Nov 22, 2016 |
juicydiceyjoe:And are we enjoying this present? The present presents it's share of pain and despair, which in most cases eclipses the little ephemeral fun. Given the unremitting presence of the agonizing existential understanding of the futility of our lives and the acknowledgement of it's bleak end and the immanate vanity of the actions that precede it, the present will always be a sad, painful experience, interspersed with horrifying uncertainties. |
| Re: No Afterlife? by juicydiceyjoe(m): 10:02am On Nov 22, 2016 |
GrizzlyBear:There are the good times and the bad..it's like a video game. Just enjoy it. You lose some and win some. From your posts, you may just be suicidal. |
| Re: No Afterlife? by Proudlyngwa(op): 10:14am On Nov 22, 2016 |
Wilgrea7:Yes I understand all that, satisfaction from doing things, but that is in "part". In totality no satisfaction, meaning the 1am and 11 pm offers same. For someone undergoing tribulation, why keep on enduring ,when you have this idea. I say this because I feel this is why people become suicidal, I have read of things and I intend exploring more. Thanks for your continuous time, as I expect more from you. |
| Re: No Afterlife? by Proudlyngwa(op): 10:17am On Nov 22, 2016 |
juicydiceyjoe:Why go through pain when you know the pain won't end positively. Read the initial post about a doctors idea. |
| Re: No Afterlife? by Nobody: 10:27am On Nov 22, 2016 |
juicydiceyjoe:It's not like a video game. In a video game, you win some, in the game of life, you lose everything. I am not. I am just being honest. |
| Re: No Afterlife? by Wilgrea7(m): 11:05am On Nov 22, 2016 |
Proudlyngwa:oh.. oh.. i understand you now. people who are suicidal... if indeed there is no afterlife, were kinda afraid.. i would have called them cowards but it'll look insultive. when you get into a battle ring, you either win or lose... if you runaway, you lose.. succsss in life isn't about the person who had everything easy and came out successful at the end.. no.. success in life is when you've faced tribilations, been knocked down, beaten etc.. but you still win in the end.. no problem is ever solved by running away from it.. people who run away from their problems by committing suicide are only accepting their loss... i prefer fighting the battle till the end.. the feeling of victory is one of the best feelings in the world.. believe me |

Proudlyngwa:to answer your question in a succinct manner: we came here to learn. by the way BNTH is my favourite group artist since 1999, are you a fan too |
| Re: No Afterlife? by jonbellion(m): 4:27pm On Nov 22, 2016 |
Lol Beforedeath is life Afterlife is death Fixed! I wonder if there was no life before birth why would there be life after death Isn't that asking for too much The afterlife is a coping mechanism for the fear of our mortality But no need to fear Rather just make your best out of your short stay in our universe ![]() Just take your time on the ride ![]() |
| Re: No Afterlife? by Proudlyngwa(op): 6:38pm On Nov 22, 2016 |
Immorttal:If we are here to learn , where are we to use the knowledge if after death there is nothing. Yes am an ardent follower of the BTNH ever since, I heard the crossroads. |
| Re: No Afterlife? by Immorttal: 10:12pm On Nov 22, 2016 |

| Re: No Afterlife? by akindlesfarm: 10:52pm On Nov 22, 2016 |
It is foolishness to think that there is no essence to living and pls think and pls think the answer is within us |
| Re: No Afterlife? by Proudlyngwa(op): 11:08pm On Nov 22, 2016 |
Immorttal:Actually this thread is on assuming there is nothing after death. There will be more series of questions to come up based on what I pick up here I will still do a thread on if there really is an afterlife All I ask is for both contributors and observers to participate with a non biased atmosphere. |
| Re: No Afterlife? by Proudlyngwa(op): 11:11pm On Nov 22, 2016 |
akindlesfarm:I agree that it is foolishness, that is why I want to pick up the wisdom to know that essence, that answer. I have already gotten some answers , but I believe there is room to know more. Thanks. |
| Re: No Afterlife? by Proudlyngwa(op): 11:13pm On Nov 22, 2016 |
