This ur op worth been a counter thread
kevinberry:
it seems males and females are raised differently within most households

the girls are always after money and lack basic home training most times, most of them get impregnate before 18,whereas the boys are trained to learn one trade or the other to support their families and to save for future use...

Some parents don't bother about training their female kids anymore but allow them the freedom to do whatever they like while the males are trained and made to learn different trade, working day and night....

Don't complain about your wives if you are not ready to train your daughters because they will be someone else's spouse one day.

Even d dirty ones, are more neater and well structured than ur dirty and gutter wide pvssy.afonjaaaaaa
Joavid:
It's not a new thing really. I will blame the parents.

Nigerians parents are not so good. infact, if a male or female child from an average family in Nigeria turns out to be a responsible adult, it's a huge testimony.

people say I exaggerate when I say Nigerians have the worst parenting style, but it's true.

For a Nigerian parent, the kids go to school if they can afford it, the female child does the chores and cooks and the male child roams about or do whatever he likes. (that's why most Nigerian men are dirty and untidy except the ones that attended boarding school or simply wised-up,)when you complain, they will say he's a man o.

youths these days are into saging, gangs, drugs and are exposed to a world too complicated for their young age through music, internet and the streets. A parent should monitor and guide his children through these irrespective of gender. When I was younger, we had a lot of respect for our elders and commitment to manual labour. What happened to that era?

Something is wrong with you.. When we say Lagos is no man's land, you guys debunked, now you have the effrontery to say 'mostly Easterners live here'. Because you want to label them bad and you still have to say you are not bashing any tribe.

Prostitution has eaten deep into Festac, with many nightclubs and strip bars popping up in diverse areas within the town. I dislike the place.

Boys just act up a bit more around puberty.

Girls are a bit more coded.

In my time they will just whoop your ass and your brainbox will reset sharp sharp. grin cheesy

Everybody learnt too cook & do chores, boys & girls.

I think because boys cannot get preggy, parents sometimes feel not much can go wrong.

That's how abusive husbands are raised. They go into marriage with foul attitudes and don't think there's any thing wrong with it.

For being forced to with no logical reasoning. I've never washed my brothers cloth and I'm the last born. I can wash them but I've never been mandated to because it is not my job to do. He has hands.

This has been on for as long as i can remember, even with our forefathers, training the girl child was always the focal point while the male child is given freedom. Just like it was before and still is even if not pronounced, most people still have this mentality that you don't have a child until you have a male child

The op is on point, the family structure is fast decaying today because the man who is allegedly supposed to be the head of the home is not even trained to know what it takes to be a man or how to be one, hence the ripple effect we are seeing in our society today, from an untrained child to a youth and to an adult, and we wonder why most the society is like this?, it's the family structure that makes up the society

A Satellite community, I must add mostly Easterners live here. I'm not bashing any tribe, I am one myself but I can help but think something is wrong with their upbringing

no be today I notice this phenomenom. parents, most especially mothers let their sons spoil rotten, maybe in view that they will be more domineering males.
I don't like pointing this out, when I do, It makes me feel effeminate.

The boys act unruly and disrespectful most times, they are also sexually exposed far too early whereas the girls appear respectful and polite.

Some parents don't bother about training their male kids anymore but allow them the freedom to do whatever they like while the girls are trained and made to do multiple domestic chores

Don't complain about your husbands if you are not ready to train your sons because they will be someone else's spouse one day.
when man eyes "tear" he becomes rude most times but when woman eyes "tear" she becomes respectful and polite most times because she wants men to like her.

You added the first highlighted and say you are not bashing any tribe? Can't you just say the name of the area without bringing your dirty tribalism into it? Was it necessary? By adding that, did your comment make more sense? I know you're not new in Nairaland to know how dirty tribal comments such as yours brings vile insults and tribal fights. Stop hiding, you know what you're doing!

the op herself is from that tribe and just stating the obvious. try not to see insult where there is none. just apologise to her and let's bone it. cheers
Stop being smart by half, the Op should have avoided saying that mostly ''Easterners'' live there knowing fully well how tribal insults have been the order of the day in Nairaland. Substitute the world Easterners with Igbos and see how it sounds. The OP knows what she was doing because she could have avoided adding that and her statement will still make a meaning. Remember she was just answering somebody who asked her the name of the area. She should have answered without bringing any tribe into it. So let us stop all these pretences and call a spade a spade.

An average Nigerian girl is trained with the notion that her highest height in life is her husband's place. Only Few of them break out of that curse to become useful in life.
An average Nigerian girl is very vulnerable compared to her male counterparts. That is why Parents tend to give them a strong hand but our society of today have made it so hard to train a child (only a living person will have time to train another human being).
Sometimes when I see those ladies at night alongbthe road or others misbehaving herself, I do ask about their fathers.
It takes the will of God for a female child to become useful in life but the male children must one day realize himself and toll the right back.

I think bad parenting in Nigeria is like these because of the state of the economy and how our ancestors derailed from it. Fathers became far from the children especially the female ones, they didn't stay close to the male ones.

Festac is a very wrong place to raise a Child, if I wanna start my family I would rather go to a new site probably in Ikorodu.
Re: What I Noticed Among Pre-teens And Teens In My Area by kayceerilyn(f): 7:22am On Nov 25, 2016
thanks O.P.... I was going to create a thread for this. The society treat ladies in the most unkind way neglecting the male children. In many houses, the parents try as much as possible to teach their girls how to cook, wash, keep the home clean, talk kindly and all of these to make them prim and proper ladies because they will get married someday...
The male children on the other hand are taught how not to do anything.... They are ignored when the use curse words and in time, they even begin yelling at their parents with no corrective measures.... The guys that will dump their boxers just anywhere, leave their plates right where they ate and cannot do anything meaningful.

Our parents should understand that their prim and proper girls will end up these dirty and lazy guys..... And marital problems begin.

Lol...disrespect is very common in the East especially with boys..they have such traits in abundance, i know because I served there. Some parents even come to school to ask that their Sons be properly dealt with or punished severely after that child must have Beaten them blue black back at home (who get that time?), most of them lack home training...not generalising anyway.

Apart from the disrespect part, hasn't it always been like this?

Most boys were allowed total unrestricted freedom from even house chores for the single reason that they are male kids.
Most were given the choice meat, largest food portion, cleaned after by their sisters etc.
Why do you think we have some really dirty husbands now? Overgrown babies who can't even wash their own boxers?
Even in my house, my niece wash her brothers cloths on the instruction of her mummy, beaten if she shouts back at them or fight them, not because she is younger but because she is female, and will go to husband house grin
a lot more, lemme hold it here.

Maybe the elite parents of this generation will help correct this trend for our future daughters

This is why most young ladies can't wait to leave their parent's house and end up with the same characterless male species they're running away from in the first place. Both my parents are disciplinarians, there was no set rule for us girls that the boys didn't adhere to while we were growing up..they were really stubborn because they had friends in who they felt had their way in their homes but my parents told them it wouldn't happen under their roof..especially my mum
