My Experience As An Atheist For Three Weeks. by AngelsAndStars(m): 9:35am On Dec 01, 2016
I'll try to make this as brief as possible.

I come from a very religious family and as it is, i was "forced" to attend church programs and vigils against my desire. with time i grew to dislike religion not because i had a reason to other than as a rebellion against my parents for forcing it too much on me. the dislike grew so strong even till this day.

My school days gave me freedom, i attended churches only when i felt like or when a girl makes me go or when i am invited to a special occasion by a friend, in all these period i dislike religion because of how my parents behave(even till this day)

This caused me pain and anger against religion. then questions began to flow in.

Is it by force to serve God?
Is this the right way to serve God?
these and many other atrocities committed by religious people made me dislike it more.
so many questions came that made me doubt religion.
my friends then in school knew i dislike going to church even when during HND there was a church beside my house still i never stepped in that church except for one occasion where we ate bonce and drank zobo(lol)

Let me skip some part and move to the important one

During my NYSC days. i met a friend. he studied philosophy, an indegene of the village i served somewhere in south west. usually he comes to our lodge and argue religion with us and i was amazed how someone could challenge religious doctrines(i did but not to that extent). he was good with bible and quranic verses. he is a "muslim"

we became close friends and i got emboldened to also challenge religious doctrine. soon after i was his side man when such arguments came up in corper's lodge. we usually trash the religious people both muslims and christians living in the lodge. usually the christians and muslims would gang up against us then we'll put confusion against both religion and make them face each other then laugh them as stupid, during the first few months of service i was still going to church regularly though, just for the sake of it.

A lot happened and i stopped believing in God. i made the decision not to believe in religion(God) again. this was where things got really interesting.

Just a minute please. i'll complete it

When i finally decided to not believe in God i felt empty. i began to ask many more questions.

Ok what am i doing here?
Oh, am just going to come, suffer and die? what for?
where the hell did we all pop out from?
Out of nothing?
Just like that?
Could i be more intelligent than all philosopher and people of old?
if Albert the great scientists could believe in God(not religion) as knowledgeable as he is. could he be wrong?

i had many questions.

then the most important one

whats the need of life?

this period gave me enlightenment, my IQ increased beyond my imagination and i felt like God,
during his period i studied my character, thinking pattern.
i practically perceived my self as dangerous, i had no inner conscience again. i saw life like in the jungle. kill or be killed. even my philosopher friend became "enemy within"
my instinct change and i thought like a wild animal. at a time i was even afraid of myself. i looked at my fellow human as just a pile of flesh nothing else.
i was fighting within me a war of "who am i" and "what tha fvck am i doing here"
i saw no need in the nysc scheme anymore, i became "too smart" i almost ran mad.

i read a lot of articles on God, religion, atheism and different fairytale of different cultures

But one day

i asked myself, do i really need to live like this?
generations have come and gone, same question, same problem.
why dont goats worry? or the dogs? why only man?

i cant possible be wiser than every other person. i came up with a quote...

"It is foolish to believe there's a god but it is more foolish to believe there's no god"

I decided to skip so many questions and moments just so i wont bore you from reading a very long epistle but during this period of IQ boom i realized something about humans.

What if you had died while living as an athiest for that short period? It's risky, anything can happen don't use yourself as a guinea pig for spiritual things like that next time for there is no guarantee on your life span abeg o

Humans, in different corners of the earth had religion and culture, it brought about order because if not for that we'll live like the animals. the knowledge is the sin that brought about ego of man, even the bible acknowledged it. notice other animals dont worry about what we worry, even a mad man dont worry. the book of genesis is full of errors and loopholes, its a myth and myths are either true or false(something christians would not agree)

knowledge is a pain in the life of man. we are the most unfortunate animals on earth. and we cant help it.

science cants answer all the questions about the beginning of life. answering such question is like falling into a bottomless pit, more questions comes up and its becomes a never ending question. religion uses faith to reduce the worry of such never ending question of the "beginning" thats why i said. "it is foolish to say there's God but more foolish to say there's no God"

We are helpless, limited, and foolish. but at every point a man has to stand with a group. believe or not believe. i then realized atheists are not really against "God" but against religious description of God. every religion gives God features of man. pride, envy, anger, etc. if you look closely at the description of gods of religion they have similar characteristics as man.

the bible is indeed the word of God(knowledge), the bible is a book of philosophy. many characters in the bible are philosophers, vast in wisdom and seen as men of God(knowledge) which they were.

in life no one can know it all. today i still go to churche but i perceive "God" personally. i dont depend on pastors or priests to do any miracle for me. when i pray i speak to the God that i believe exists. i dont criticize any religion except if they are harmful to the lives of others. i believe all religion have element of truth.

this are some of the stupid reasons why i dislike religion. God cannot have a people amongs every other which he created. i didnt create myself with "original sin" neither did i choose to be created. i am a victim of life, i have desires, i am puzzled by life, this is not my fault. so if you believe in hell fire for "faulty humans" created with the punishment of knowledge thats your business. take your preaching to the dogs undecided

There's nothing stupid about what I stated there. If you understand truth you will know that there's power behind your words and beliefs. If you decided to become an athiest for that period it means you turned away from Christ, you rejected Him. Count yourself lucky you did not die within that period Sir for your destination would have been decided by your own choice.

You cannot experiment with God, today you become an athiest tomorrow you accept Christ, then you change your mind again and again abi? I wish you well, remember you are dealing with the Supreme being, the alpha and omega, the beginning and the end, I rest my case

The worst part is that they are comfortable with thought of a deity punishing about 5,2 billion people for all eternity because they were in the "wrong religion"

The thing about humans is we are the only animals to wonder why we are here and what our "purpose" is and it 's mainly because we have the ability to reason. Looking at life like we're born just to die ignores everything else in between friends, family, love, achievements..I don't worry a lot about my purpose as I do about living a good life, one you're happy with, which you could say is my purpose.

I can relate to the studying your character part, when I became atheist I spent a lot of time trying to understand why I think the way I do. What I don't understand is why you looked at humans as just flesh?

Finally atheism isn't about being smarter than any philosopher or scientist, it's just a world view. It seem's like religion might be good for you so good luck with that.

P.S.
"It is foolish to believe there's a god but it is more foolish to believe there's no god" I disagree.

Pray That Young People Who Abandon God Realize They Need Him

Unfortunately, many young people today do leave God out of their lives once they're out on their own. Some become openly rebellious-but many simply become too busy or too preoccupied with life, and they don't feel any need for God or church.
As they grow older, however, many do come back-often with a deep and sincere commitment to Christ. Over the years, for example, I've received many letters from new parents who wanted to give their children a moral and spiritual foundation in life, and were beginning to realize their own need for God. Parenting is a serious responsibility, and they realized they needed God's wisdom and guidance to do it well.

What can you do? First, pray for your daughter and her husband, that God will work in their hearts and lives to help them realize that they need Him. They need His wisdom, and they also need the hope and peace that can only come from Christ. In addition, ask God to help you know how you can encourage them to build their lives on Christ. If you failed to teach this to your daughter when she was young, be honest in confessing it to her.

As a footnote, I believe we need to do more today to bring our young people to Christ, and to strengthen their spiritual lives so they can resist the pressures they'll face later on. The Bible says, "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it" (Proverbs 22:6).

look how I saw humans, just like every other animal. I saw us as not so special after all. if we can slaughter goats without remorse(not minding the fact that the goat struggles not to due like we do) then why should we humans be different. those were some of my thinking. I can't really say how I felt. only me can describe it to myself. it's hard to explain but I was so dangerous I was even scared of my tendencies.

as for that quote. trust me, it us mire foolish to say there's no god than otherwise. some people think the concept of "feeling the gap" is more foolish but really is it? who has gone down the lane of wisdom and has become successful? no one can prove god exist or does not exist. if you study science you'll hit a grid, a grid where you won't be able to imagine any further. that's where faith comes in. religion or no religion once you reach a stage of philosophy of god you'll have to apply faith to whatever follows.

weather God is alive or not makes no difference. but believing in God is the less foolish option of both.

You did not become an Atheist, instead you sort for answers you couldn't find in religion. You were after your missing piece, the missing piece of the puzzle that bothers the religious folks, even Atheists......The question; WHO AM I?

But being religious and Atheist are two sides of a coin. Both are coming from a wrong angle, hence the dilemma they find themselves. "WHO AM I" is the question both failed to answer. I call it the fight between the Left and Right parts of the brain. A full understanding of both will lead you to a good answer.

dude this happens because death is still a mystery to man. where do we go after death is still a pain in our heart. so when people grow old reality set in. the condition of man is what drives such curiosity. we are helpless. we need to give meaning or no meaning to life all with "faith" because in reality no one has the answer.

go to a church and pull out a gun everybody runs away, except in rare cases one or two whose belief will be considered foolishly. even after preaching about heaven no one still wants to die.

it's our condition. mystery unsolved is a pain

they are both hypocrites, and too stupid to see who we really are. the creator cannot be so petty the way religious people describe the concept. each group golds a great deal if stupidity as the truth.

You just reaffirmed that you still go to church and pray to God.

I don't know what God you pray to but if it is the christian God then you must really be confused. Its like a scientist saying he doesn't believe that E=Mc2 or a doctor saying he doesn't believe in anti retroviral drugs in the treatment of HIV. Look, in Christianity you do not cheery pick. You are either in or out. God's word is final. Jesus Christ said it himself that hell and heaven exist. Anyone who doesn't believe it is not a christian. How can you be a christian and not believe in the word of God?

For religion, they are misunderstanding the psychological meaning of their holy book. "I AM THE WAY".....I wish people can study that phrase deeply and they will understand what religious was meant to be about.

As for Atheists, they are too in touch with the physical/material which is only a product of psychology. The only good thing about this mindset is that it negates the idea of a separate God the Christians/Muslims and other worship.

People need to make an efford to re-educate themselves. No one can do it for them except themselves.

thank you very much. people think its stupid when I hold this opinion and still pray.

during that period I really did lots of brain storming and I reached a point of "Madness" then I slowed down. now I don't shove opinion on theists and atheists but I like to call off their ignorance.
