Yes it would.

Your proposed program should be consistent with your academic background or employment history.

Ensure to get a very detailed letter of introduction from your employer to support you claims.

Noted! wink

This thread is predominantly for people planning or envisaging to study in Canada. I think there is a thread where people with more knowledge about permenant resident can sufficiently answer your queries.

Pls I need advice, I have B.sc geology and a Msc in petroleum Geoscience both from nigeria. I currently don't want to do a phd in petroleum geology considering the current sitiation in the oil industry. I want to switch to environmental management or geomatics. I am currently looking at applying to USASK and University of New Brunswick. I have a feeling the VO will raise a red flag at doing another Msc. I am in a fix. Pls can the guru in the house advice.

Bro my advice is for you to find a program relating to microbiology or secure a masters in microbiology. Use this admission to apply for visa, so that you won't be denied on purpose of visit. When you get your trv, you can now change school in Canada. This is allowed.

What if you work more than that
yemdogg:

This is very possible. In Canada you're allowed to work 20hrs/week during study in Canada. You can as well work full time during scheduled breaks/holidays.

You are highly welcome. Congrats on your PR. We hope to celebrate your citizenship in 4 years time I guess. Abi how many years between PR and filing to Citizenship? Also why did it take that long to get your PR or that's the norm? Did You enter through PhD?
I hope to we get to learn from your experience. Also, kindly share some of your falls and ups during study and towards getting your PR and what you did to come out strong. Thank you.

Yes you are right, you have to be physically present in Canada for 1460 days after PR. Considering that I was in school for 1 year n half then work for another one year before applying, 3.5 years is not long.
I believe studying in Canada is not that hard, though you may have loads of course work, but the professors are always willing to provide assistance. On getting PR, you need to finish your school program first, then get a skilled work.
There are different streams you can apply through, but the fastest is the Express entry. With Canadian educational qualification and skilled job experience, the chance of getting enough points for ITA (Invitation to apply) is high.

I would seriously advice you not to change career or field of study. Records and statistics both on this thread and outside this thread have shown that Canadian visa officers are seriously aversed to people changing their career. This may work in the UK embassy (so I heard )

However a strong and well drafted statement of purpose may be your saving grace.

Alternatively you can apply for masters in both petroleum geology and environmental management, when you secure your trv you can switch program.

You will be violating the conditions stated on your study permit and subsequently you may have problem with the Canadian embassy particularly when you're about to apply for PR or other categories of visa.

Mikymiko:
1. Get an updated sponsor SOA.
2. Add assets documents and letter of fixed deposit as you have said.
3. Suit your relationship properly and add proofs (rethink about this and figure it out properly).
4. Remember to add an affidavit of sponsorship.
5. Remember to pay your school fees since you are using third party sponsor.
6. Add a detailed SOP.

Best wishes. Thanks. Am thinking

Dalhousie University, Halifax, canada.

Check Google. ...type the name of the school and add tuition fees.

Although am sure it's there, you just didn't navigate the school website well enough.

. Go to go. Bed calling grin

Glad to help.
