efilefun:Nigeria has no business producing rice. Nigeria has no comparative advantage in rice production hence the massive smuggling. And who told you imported rice does not create jobs? All the bukas selling rice, are those not jobs? |

efilefun:Local rice is more expensive. A better value would be to have invested in crops Nigeria has comparative advantage. Do you know Ivory Coast earns about $3.5billion from cocoa exports? Now imagine if the over $1billion invested in rice mills alone was invested in cocoa, cashew, cassava alone instead, what would the returns be like? The export revenue generated from them would be enough to cover food imports into the country! |
