House,

please what is the fg bond rates now?

Which one of them?

The 15.54% 2020 bond is currently at 15.97% yield. A little under 100naira.

You can check the various rates of the vtoous bonds online. The TB yields are currently higher but it depends on what your strategy is.

I think it would have been better you see the rates given by other banks for 1year before deciding the bank to settle with. But Stanbic should offer better than that and you could as well bid with your own rate.

The rates do not vary from bank to bank. It is the same across board. If you are bidding for yourself just study the trends and cast your net.

Bank rates differs but CBN's rate is same for all banks. If you see from the rates people have been posting here since yesternight, some banks gave 18.5 like FCMB and some 17.5..

My broda, the rates should ordinarily not vary but it actually does. This is because some banks insist on selling from their secondary market. Those banks will never alow you bid at your own rate. Some like diamond bank do operate a secondary market thatis open aon a daily bases. One can therefore place a bid on any day of the month as long as you confirm the rates and tenor on offer by the bank.

FCMB gave me 18.5% because they asked me to either choose their rate or my own rate. I chose my own rate and indicated 18.5. I woud have gone higher but I just wanted this one to go through. I didn't want to take risks.

I love FCMB. They just sent the alert. 364days @ 18.5%. What diamond bank refused to do for me, fcmb has done without any stress or call and at my own rate. Had I known I would have since gone with them and avoided diamond bank with their terrible customer relations.
Must you have account with the bank(e.g: fcmb) before you can place your bid through them?

I am not too sure. I only know they have a form and you indicate mode of payment on it. I think there might be a column for cheques and other modes of payment, am not too sure. Just walk into the bank and ask them for the form.

@Gurus in the house..
If you instructed your bank to bid for 365-days (1-year) tenor on your behalf, and instead they bidded for 182-days (6 -months) tenor without your consent, can one take legal action against them if upon request to terminate the investment they do not return the original amount invested??

Please, anyone with idea and experience on Treasury Bills should kindly help with suggestions on how to tackle such scenario. Thanks in anticipation

Easy ooo before you shoot yourself on the leg.
1. The banks I know around here does not give you any evidence (a copy of the form you fill or request later for the treasury bill after the request) what they give is either an investment advice or confirmation of investment letter which is to notify you of an investment already made.

2. As for your investment instruction not properly carried out. You would have written to the banks customer care to seek remedy. It is still possible if you were not the person that gave them a written instruction to sell. However, if you gave them the instruction to sell and they did you, may not have any strong point to argue for refund.

@Freeman.. thanks plenty.. Showed their agreement letter with my lawyer, and he did say I had a good case. But planning on meeting up with the head office on Monday for clarifications, before taking action.

I mean cbn rate will not vary, but bank do bid for their customers just as customers can also instruct their bank to use their preferred personal rate.

. . . Yes, had such experience with Ecobank just as you did. Kept going back-and-forth with the Treasury Officer that provided the form for me and got credited some days afters. Keep visiting the branch where you processed the transaction and you will be credited.
