About two years ago, out of my passion for building a new Nigeria with refined mentality, I created a group called "Police is Your Friend Campaign" trying to change the public's orientation about the NPF. Many of my friends told me how the level of rot and moral decadence among the Nigerian Police will poise a great threat to the accomplishment if this objective, but I declined believing nothing is impossible.

The campaign started with publicity and meeting with DPOs to carry them along in the pursuit of this dream. I tried tirelessly to convince people but many stood their ground recounting several unjust experiences.

Today, after becoming a driver myself, I got to understand Nigerians who feel the level of rot is incorrigible.

I was at Elere police station in Agege, Lagos last week, and on driving out, the officer mounting the gate came to me with a stretched hand, asked him what happened he said its  N200, I asked with surprise that what!? He said once you drive in, its N200 toll payment to drive out. I was delayed for over 20mins because he didn't have change and I must pay. I had to look for change myself quickly because I was already getting late for a more important appointment.

It's disheartening to see the officer boldly engage in such barbaric and illegal demand. Anyone who wants to confirm this should drive into the said station. I would have put the officer's name but I feel its not necessary implicating him alone,it's the whole station as it seems to be their norm.

I will ensure this post is sent to all police platforms I know and i want people to share this as much as we can till it gets to appropriate authorities. I was later told that's how other stations too do. I'm sure the DPOs must be aware for them to have such confidence.

This nonsense must stop!

its like you were born in Britain abi, 9ja police can never be your friend lai lai. your own case is nothing compared to what Nigerians suffer at the hands of 9ja policemen.

I understand you but it is a mission impossible. if I tell you what I as a person have faced from those criminals in uniform you will pity me. my only advice to you is to stay away from them if you want to live long.

elere police station agege is nonsense,
that police station at ikeja beside local govt computer village is robbers station.
ijaiye/ojokoro police station beside d housing estate is anoda nonsense ........ decoco and his boys can be so brutal, dey will tell u dey have shut alot of people and counted dem as robbers, so u must cooperate nd settle for no just reason.
