FriendChoice:Again, I have not insulted you. I was trying to get you to reason. "mic is haram, bed is haram" etc...if that's what your mind says about me, you got it wrong. I wont elaborate further. You can think anything you want. Even "musical instruments" are in parenthesis. Not Allah's word or the prophet's(p). It is basically opinion that varies amongst scholars for centuries. I rather just leave you alone until someone reasonable comes around. I have made my point clear. |

Empiree:Mic was not a musical instruments. So the question does not arise. Empiree: Empiree:Now you're not concern on it definition after you defined it as musical instrument and insisted it is. Just because of your ego not to accept the truth or what. Don't look at the person telling you the truth, but look at the truth itself. Mic remain an instrument but does not remain a musical instrument. Period. Microphone was not originated for Musical purpose in the first place. Its originally invented to transduce a sound. Just because many people used it does not make it musical instrument. So don't say the sheik is using musical appliance. The same Qur'an you read, some people use it to do magic and evil shirk. That does not and will never make Qur'an a magic book. Likewise mic was introduce to convey sound and which ever sound be it music, songs, adhan, preaching etc, the main function is still existing. This does not means the sheik is using musical instrument. If it means, then musicians are using religious instrument to sing also. Similarly: Television was invented to transmit audio visual. Whether Lectures, Movies, etc anything and also for playing games. To a person who like movies: Its a film watching appliance. To a kid: its a cartoon box or gaming instrument. |

There is no where the Quran prohibited music, idle talk is used in many ways, the hadiths on music only gave shaitan credit for this with no logical reasons. I started giving up on some hadith when I started reading something like shaitan pee pee in our ears, yawning is from shaitan, shaitan eats with left hand. ![]() Music is powerful, it exist in every culture even in the medical and psychological field music is used. |

Empiree, Microphone is not a musical instrument but an instrument used when producing music. |

If music is haram.... because it diverts one from the truth.... why isn't speech/or writing also haram?.... don't these also divert one from the truth? Infact... any form of communication that can lead one to the truth can also divert one from the very truth. |

Based on the write up, The quran passage was specific. There's no absolutely no reference to music/singing. Also, there's no direct recommendation from Prophet Muhammed banning music/singing outrightly I understand that most musics nowadays can corrupt. The reality is Shaytan can corrupt anyone with anything - opposite sex, money, family, health, knowledge but it doesn't mean we stop trying to make a living or getting more knowledge. We limit our exposure to things that are against quran's teaching and pray for Allah's guidance I do not agree with the fact that all music/singing is haram. If you think it is, please provide actual statements from Allah or Prophet Muhammed and not other human's opinion or translation. #MyOpinion so no need for factless attacks lexiconkabir: |

Music and song and dance are three different thing. Making music in islam is no doubt haram buh singing and dancing is sure permissible I have this fatwa of shaykh salih al fawzan here that may be of help to our knowledge. What is the ruling of women dancing amongst themselves during a wedding or other than that? May Allaah reward you. Answer: There is no harm in the dancing of women on the ocassion of marriage and the beating of the duff (a simple drum) along with some singing of virtuous songs (not containing sinful speech) - because this is from the announcement of the marriage that has been commanded by the sharee'ah - However with the condition that this is done in the company of women only, with voices that are not raised so that they pass outside of the venue, and with the condition that there is complete seclusion and screening. Also that the awrah (the areas of the body that should be concealed) are not revealed whilst dancing, such as her legs, or her arms or her upper arms - and that which is shown from these is in accordance with the customs/habits of the Muslim women in the presense of (other) women. Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan "Al-Muntaqaa", ash-Shaykh al-Allaamah al-Fawzaan, 2/172,172. |

I agree with adejaresalami1 music (ie musical instrument) and singing (with one's voice and no instrument) are different. The Op talked about music and not singing. |

snapscore:You can't separate singing(vocal) from music. Singing is music. When you're talking about music art or study or field, singing is part of it, so according to the OP singing is also haraam because Satan the villain boss is the source. Even A-capella is a form of music. |

| Re: Stop Listening To Music, Its Haraam!!! by tintingz(m): 5:28pm On Dec 17, 2016 |
najib632:So it is only ladies that listen to music and is it only ladies that fornicate? I don't know why society, religion mostly focus on women especially in Africa. And secondly, Are there not good music? Have you read the benefits of music? najib632:Hadiths that give rational reasons for something and that harmonize with the Quran. Those are the hadiths I take serious. And NO am not defending promiscuity, music is not the founder/originator of promiscuity. |

snapscore:But eeerm... Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: The interpretation of the Sahaabah and Taabi’in, that ‘idle talk’ refers to singing, is sufficient. This was reported with saheeh isnaads from Ibn ‘Abbaas and Ibn Mas’ood. Abu’l-Sahbaa’ said: I asked Ibn Mas’ood about the aayah (interpretation of the meaning), ‘“And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks’ [Luqmaan 31:6]. He said: By Allaah, besides Whom there is no other god, this means singing – and he repeated it three times. It was also reported with a saheeh isnaad from Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with them both) that this means singing There is no contradiction between the interpretation of “idle talk” as meaning singing and the interpretation of it as meaning stories of the Persians and their kings, and the kings of the Romans, and so on, such as al-Nadr ibn al-Haarith used to tell to the people of Makkah to distract them from the Qur’aan. Both of them are idle talk. Hence Ibn ‘Abbaas said: “Idle talk” is falsehood and singing https://islamqa.info/en/5000 But what do I know |
