Xmas and Muslims: #mystand I have an uncle who lives in Owele Ankpa, he is very humble, does most things right- he is the definition of a true man of God, yes he is a pastor, in my family xtians and Muslims mingle like that. My sister who is a xtian is the best human my family can boast of morally, she is far better than my siblings and I, we celebrate xmas and sallah together. Now to the topic, Muslims don't eat meat killed my people of other faith, it must be slaughtered by a Muslim and to make sure we carry everybody along my afore mentioned uncle will invite a Muslim to help kill his goats when he has naming ceremony, etc. When I was with Al-Hikmah University Ilorin as an ICT consultant (Yes I'm jack of all trade), I became very close to God and will always say "salam" instead of "good afternoon" "good morning" cos even if u say " good afternoon" they will reply with salam, now the disadvantage of this is the less than 0.005% Christians in the university community often felt left out though no one complained, then around September 2013 we recruited a Web developer and he is a xtian, making xtians in the whole ICT department just two in number, during big sallah they gave us lengthy holiday like the one most companies give for Xmas and shared rice. Bags of rice. As a graduate staff I was a beneficiary, infact we all benefitted, xtians and Muslim staff alike. Then Xmas came, I wasn't expecting similar treatment cos this is a Muslim university though they have hundreds of xtian students, and our new xtian staff, remember the Web developer? He brought us maltina and other goodies, can't remember again, the maltina was like two cartons and I drank almost ten cans if not more cos he brought them almost a week to Xmas and nobody touched it except me and the other xtian, so everyday I come to work I take maltina with my breakfast, lunch and even take one home for dinner (don't laugh) , he bought those things with money, somebody must consume them. Now, the other copper is an acclaimed mallam with beards and "fear ground" trouser, the first time I gave him a can of "our" maltina he rejected " it's Mr. Atolegbe that told me to give u" that's me talking already drinking mine, " I know that's why I rejected it, it's for Xmas and we don't eat xmas food" maybe I didn't quote his exact words but that was the message and may Allah forgive me if I make any mistake in this narration, the mistake would be mine and not my religion's. I wanted enlightening him but he is the "mallam" and I the average Muslim, nothing I say will work as I will have to convince plenty people who out of ignorance think they know Islam more than Idris cos he doesn't keep beards and wear "fear ground" trousers. The question is why don't u eat xmas food? Because they are celebrating the birth of Christ, the same Jesus whose name was mentioned more than ten times in the Quran, who the Quran said he is truly the Messiah, Jesus is for xtians as well as Muslims, he is for the whole world though the bible claims he is for the tribe of judah, he is just for the children of Israel but then that is new testament and most of the authors don't even know Christ, they wrote their books on "hear say" stories from others and unfortunately Jesus didn't have an author biography (I stand to be corrected). Sorry I derailed a bit, I just wanted to point out I stand with the old testament. Xmas is not and will never be the birthday of Jesus, he wasn't born in the winter so those of u hypocritical Muslims running away from xmas food u should know that we are celebrating a date set aside to have fun after a stressful year. 25th December is not his birthday, and assuming 25th December is his birthday I wouldn't have participated whatsoever because my religion forbids doing birthday for the dead especially if they didn't do it themselves when alive, Yes MAULUD is also haram and it's bid'ah 'ah (innovation) and very punishable. Prophet MUHAMMAD (SAW) didn't do anything like birthday during his lifetime but today 12th Rabiul-awal is even a holiday in Nigeria. In summary, civilised and educated Muslims will eat ur xmas food if the meat is killed by a Muslim, cos xmas is not even the celebration of any body's birthday but more of an end of the year celebration. #xmasrocks #liveandletslive #Merryxmas #api2017 Lalasticlala Seun Mynd44 |

idrezee:Just as it is the Muslims business to reject food from Christians. So why are you freaking out about it? Why not leave people to mind their business? |

delishpot:I'm a Muslim and the essence of the post is that rejecting xtians food is unislamic, Islam didn't teach that and xtians rejecting sallah food is bad too cos it's not in the bible. It's an individual something under the guise of religion. Thanks. |

Christmas is not in my Bible. And my Bible is such that no one can add anything more to it. |

Hypocrites...y'all don't eat meat slaughtered by non-muslims right? But you eat meat when you travel to America, UK, France, Germany. So who slaughters those meat you eat there? |

Omudia11:Sorry I didn't know Muslims butchers were banned in this countries. |
| Re: Christmas And Muslims: My Stand. by Omudia11: 9:22am On Dec 21, 2016 |
You didn't hear me say they were banned. Abbatoirs are rarely ever owned by muslims in the aforementioned countries and do you Muslims question who the butchers ware before eating them? idrezee: |

idrezee:But, you said it is unislamic to eat meat killed by non Muslims. How do you expect them to eat Christmas food when they do not wantbto eat unislamic meat? Are you saying Christians should all hire a Muslim to kill their cows and chickens so that Moslems would partake with them? If not, how them do you want Moslems to eat such food when they are not prepared in Islamic way? |
