Did you read the report? The governor mentioned doing the right at the right place and time. Did he mention any tribe?
He does not need to mention a tribe. He mentioned between Onitsha and Ore. What happens from Ore to Lagos? Is that not subliminal enough

Sharraaap!! Don't bring yoruba into this.
I'm proudly a Yoruba person but I don't subscribe to the idea of Customs officials setting check points on inner highways. [/s]

how do yo reason like this.
do you expect them to seize ALL the rice on the road when what they do is random stop and search or have you seen where every vehicle on the road is stopped and searched.

so u agree Obi was exaggerating

Obi should keep shut. NDLEA should go and complement the effort of Nigeria custom in the south east. Drug and smuggling should be dealt with from the source and not the Ports
The only region where absurd things happen the most is in the NORTH.
Where children as young as 3 abuse drugs. Not just marijuana but something heavier!
The border in that region is as porous as a basket where all ills, shits n illegal goods both human n materials gets into the country.

your stupidity knows no bound, if truly they are into criminality what concerns custom and check point, or bag of rice and criminality. One thing I know is that aboki will always be an aboki no matter the platform. All you people know is just to born, with no future ambitions, just drink and smoke and the routine just continues like that from generation to generation.

I was in PH two weeks back and it would interest you to note that there were checkpoints all the way from Enugu down to PH. Papers and all were asked and the car was thoroughly searched. I'm sure they would have confiscated what was believed to have been smuggled. And yes, there were vehicles that were confiscated on the road because they carried certain items. Peter Obi should not play the victim mentality just so he could tribalize this. It's on almost every road at this period.

Reason with your head .no rampant check point in the North. Once u enter Edo the check point begins

His comment would have made more sense if he hadn't tribalized it. I don't know why igbos always adorn the garment of victimization. Is it only igbos that pass through federal roads?
Our security agents should be called to order. Their irresponsibility and impunity is highly unbecoming of a democratic country

This is not the case of NDLEA, obi said something that is happening in one sector(the customs) and all u could do was to write this trash?

If customs were effective, they should have made sure that none of those foreign rice found its way within the shores of naija, but confiscating one or two bags of rice by individuals u know too well that they are travelling for xmas, even when u also know how xmas is celebrated is pure wickedness and being unreasonable.

NDLEA has bursted so many drug lords and cases in Nigeria, south east included, no one condemned them, not even the politicians.

Of what gain will those travellers get when they bought rice in other parts, pay transport and other risks associated with road transport for just one or two bags of rice?

If it were to the truck loads of rice, it would have been a different ball game, but rice for family use and consumption? NOO, that is unacceptable.

I will go further to tell u that if customs want to be justified in their callous job, then they should have gone to markets all over naija and start impounding foreign rice in the warehouses or shops. But NO, they will not, they will allow them to sell to innocent people only for them to come and harass them.

Put urself in such shoes if u think the customs are justified.

All these top politicians always looking for means to create havoc and disagreement within the masses, yet some people will still believe this lie. How can custom officer seize A bag of rice, or how many bags were given as Christmas gift in our respective offices.... Except if you are carrying a full loaded rice.... But, this Christmas get as e be sha..... No hamattan, no banger, infact some people cant afford Christmas tree, they are using dongoyaro leaves.... Buhari... Contunu

Don't bring tribal colouration to this, Obi is so right. From kano and Kaduna luxury buses hardly accept to carry more than 5 bags of rice at ago because customs disturb them way down to the east. There are several cases of extortion and seizure of rice in cars going on for some times now. Obi stated the obvious

Have you ever travelled beyond Sagamu? When you have lived all your life rotating in Lagos, there is no way you will believe or know what happens between Ore to Onitsha. Never.

Mr. Obi owns Next cash and carry.
Customs is placed there because the South East usually is a point of storage /sale for smuggled products. I am not a tribalist, just speaking them facts my guy.

If the government says you should not bring in a particular product into its borders, and you do but get caught, you don't deserve pity. You deserve punishment. Be law abiding.
I don't blame you, I blame your parents that are still feeding you, they should let you feed your self for one month, so that you will know what life is talking about.

the way someone nigerian youths reason is baffling. Custom are supposed to protect the borders and make sure that no illegal goods enter the country in the first place. If customs did their work properly there would be no need for the useless road blocks on the lagos-onitsha express. Contraband goods should be seized at point of entries.

Sincerely something needs to be done..

I traveled to Abuja last 2 weeks nd I can say there was no notice of customs personnel on the road but if u re traveling to the east, u will wonder between police nd custom whose job is it to check vehicle particulars, search cars nd check for criminals on the high way...

yes it is so cos smuggled fake product is much higher on that route to be sold to others just because of the greed and wicked attitude some of your igbo brothers engaged on. Even we in south south you people claim to be our brothers, we are not left out by d neferious act. D only tribe I appericiate when it comes to business is just the northerners. They are sincere to certain level. So don't complain about that if it true cos until you good ones keep preaching the gospel to others who has be given you people bad name since long time ago change their dubious ways, if not I fully support d custom in all this. Your brothers have sent a lot of people to their early grave thru fake products ranging from drugs, food items and so on.
