Amina Oyagbola was not sacked. Amina that resigned from MTN is an Atta from Okene in Kogi State, a daughter of an ambassador who was raised in Kaduna and Cuba. She resigned on a point of principle that the MTN Board that approved every step she took to reduce MTN's fine by billions of dollars, including her engagement and payment of Femi Lijadu as a consultant, cannot turn around to disown her actions for political expedience. Why political expedience? Because Nigeria's Fake Pastor Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, a major shareholder of MTN himself, led the Federal Government's negotiation accepting a substantial fine reduction, from a company in which he is a direct beneficiary of the reduced fine, without a public disclosure of conflict of interest and personal profit. That is abuse of office. Fake Pastor should stop distracting deluded Nigerians with phanthom allegations of impropriety against Abba Kyari. Osinbajo is the one who is guilty of public funds diversion in a conflict of interest and bad faith. If Nigeria was USA he's have been dragged to court. Osinbajo is a thief, when Npower is accounted for, his looting will be revealed.

Why would nairaland be a safe ground for unfounded and fabricated news. Why should unverified news be on front page. Yesterday u posted one and today is the opposite.

If u have little knowledge abt journalism, u would kno dt t is what is called a balanced reportage through a follow-up on stories. SR made an accusation in d 1st report; while MTN debunked it in d 2nd. So what is wrong in following up on ur stories?

Also, thanks for taking style to remind us dt ure d FTC !!! as if u 2 has a gift to collect

NL is not a news agency. just a forum where everything is discussed.
If u believed that thing, it means u are capable of believing that MMM will return all mavrodians money. Smh

Yesterday Nairaland, moved a thread to the front page that this so called lady have been sacked.

Now you moved another one that it was a Lie from MTN.

Make sure you confirm news before moving news to frontpage.

Seun reorientate your mod, so that they won't use your forum as a dumping ground.

But majority of people who have been shouting first to comment as if Seun has a gift for you, what is there to celebrate? (shior)
What exactly do you people mean each time u ask Seun to confirm news before accepting a thread ? Is Nairaland a newspaper company that confirm news before printing .So u expect Seun to start calling people or organisations before carrying news about them. Is that what online forums in developed countries do before posting? Tell me one online forum abroad that does that. Is Nairaland the same as Channels or Punch?

this your allegations is very strong. I would call upon people to look into the ownership of MTN. I hope this would not be a slander.

By the grace of God, we would be alive when someone will dig up incontrovertible evidence. There have been rumour that the Chief of Staff took bribe before negotiating a downward review of the MTN fine. This has been on for 2-3 months. In fact, it is one of the allegations the AG would be probing. So for the rumour again to come and link the most respected Amina Oyagbola, there is a lead. It may not be Anima Oyagbola but one day, the truth would be out ( with due respect, I am not sure the AG can unravel all or any of these allegations).
Rumour is a lead? please reassess this your submission cos i cannot make any sense out of it. What journalism will make you rush to press based on rumour? What is intelligent in that?

I don't understand how nigerians reason sef, reorientation should be the prime agenda for next year.

Guy she was SACKED! If ordinary bankers resign so they don't get sacked ( yes in the corporate world it happens alot)

Her position had become untenable and there were two options voluntary resignation or sack...

Surprised ya'll don't get it
Please don't front boldness laced with falacies....... Is there any official publication that she was sacked? Is there any investigative work from journalist that proved with facts that she was (except the "fact" of your will rely on "anonymous sources", the typical lazy approach of our journalists)

Oga u obviously ain't ever been in a hierarchical organisation before.

And you don't know anyone who's in such orgs.

All you're used to is the term 'sack'

Anyway no need arguing with you... it's your ignorance speaking

I agree 100℅ with the last 2 lines however, I have had the privilege of growing in Nigeria. At any point when there are allegations or rumours, the concerned would always deny. Apologies that my words are muddled up above. My intention is to show that the truth on this matter would be unveiled very soon .

Bros,

My primary objective is that we must sanitize the public space with what is decent, lofty, true and what will enrich us all. People MUST earn their pay and in the right way. We are having a ugly trend where some journalists throw lies into the public space and set people making various interpretions to it. That to me is NOT journalism.

I am not even gonna take the position of "in every rumour there is an element of truth"..... personally I think that is an intellectually lazy approach to it. Was it not in this country that a journalist sat in his bedroom and "reported" a full account on/of an event he never attended nor did understand the language used at the event? Yet other journalists and writers "went-to-town" with loads of write-ups based on that reportage later found to be false. Was it not in this country we accused Turai Yar' Adua of having an Aso Rock cabal, only for one of a current Governor to debunk it and even went further to state that they threw the "sentiment" into the media space........

I want to see a news that will stimulate my intellect. I want to see a news that will send MTN tail-between-pants scampering to explain the real reason why Amina left. I want to see news that draws nexus between phone logs of Amina and Kyari, frequency of visits, related account transfers, voice recordings etc........ not some lame-duck excuses of........"from an unnamed source"

We want to take this opportunity to call on the publishers of the said article to immediately retract this falsehood and issue a public apology to MTN and Mrs Amina Oyagbola.
This is the part that interests me the most. Except they sue SR, I don't see this happening.

Spot on. From radio to TV to print, we have a plethora of lazy journalists. It's just a few outlets you can trust. When you do not know something, you can not verify something or have not done enough research on something, it's best to leave the issue but what we have here is journalists gossiping on air and the likes.

Apologies to those who are doing a good job but it's becoming a worrying trend where unsubstantiated information (aka gossip) become the news - this causes a lot of damage to the individuals and the society at large. Unfortunately, what makes it worse is that most readers/viewers are not analytical enough in their reading or viewings so the media outlets lap on this. If we had critical questions to ask, they would do a good job before attempting to publish.

You hit another nail of a major problem in the head. Imagine people taking a position of "to ever rumour there is an element of truth"...... or people reading a piece, yet cannot critique or ask logical questions..............
