This is a silly question, to be honest. Christmas is more or less a traditional festival.. Even the countries with very high percentage of irreligious people celebrate Christmas on a large scale. The things which resonate most about Christmas in these countries are Santa Claus, decoration, lights. Hell, even frosty the snowman gets mentioned a lot more than Jesus.
Besides, atheism is not a religion. It doesn't require my hatred of religions and practices. No god is going to burn me forever for celebrating with my friends. So...

If we go by the Jesus story that the Shepherds were herding sheep when it happened, it can't be in December in the midst of winter. There's is a version that you may not accept, that Jesus was born something in March, which would make the shepherd story credible as they would be out herding by then.

As for 25 December, Yuletide, it's a celebration of the rebirth of the "Sun God," predating Jesus by thousands of years.

Anyways, "Sun God" is not far from "Son of God," and is easily synonymized.

What Christmas means to us is exactly what it means to you, minus the religious part. It's the time at the end of the year when we get to stay home or travel to spend time with our families and lovers. We give and receive gifts. We watch Christmas movies. We eat chicken. We shop for clothes and gadgets. Kids visit father Xmas and detonate bangers. These things aren't religious. Only the name "Christmas" sounds religious. Most atheists are not bothered by that. Besides, the practice of having celebrations near the end of the year predates Christmas.

Sunday is the day of Sun God worship, going to church to worship on Sunday is veneration to the Sun God.

The day for the veneration of Yahweh/Jehovah was/is Saturday (Sabbath).
