tyosho:WES? I find this very interesting. I have ICAS assessment too. Seems it would not be a bad idea to include it in my proposed application, right? |

I totally agree with mctowel01. I see no reason why you need to come here for postgrad and spend millions when the ultimate goal at the end is getting PR especially for people(at least i'm sure about Engineers) whose occupation are already on the SOL. Infact, i think its much easier to get good English test scores from your home country than here in Australia (especially PTE Academic) as i've seen more people getting 20 points from their home countries compared to people doing it here. People here believe they give lower scores here deliberately because they know you need it for immigration purposes. Australia is very expensive for international students and its almost impossible to work and save up your tuition comfortable. Its always better to strategize well, prepare well and patiently get your PR once and for all from Nigeria if your occupation is on the SOL as you will be saving yourself heaps of money and unnecessary pressure except if its hunger chasing you from naija which i don't think can be the case because an average prospective postgraduate student planning to come to Australia is at least middle class in Naija cos struggling peeps cant afford the tuition. I'd advise people in general to try PR first cos the rules change from time to time and you may not be lucky by the time you try applying when you get here as a student. Apply for PR when the door is still open because PR door can get shut from but student visa door will always be open(there is no country i know of that has blocked entry of international students). If you're finding it hard to get enough scores for 189 or 190 PR visa, you can look at subclass 489(Skilled regional visa). This visa is not PR but a million times better than student visa and its also easier to get than PR because you get 10 points after your chosen regional area nominates you. The visa gives you 4 yrs unlimited work rights in your nominated regional area which can be converted to PR 2 yrs after arrival if you can prove that you've worked or lived there for that period. |

Friends, please I need your advice on a situation. My bachelor's degree in Business Admin(2.1) from UNIBEN was assessed as an associate degree by VETASSESS, so my question, Is Nigerian bachelor degree equivalent to Australian associate degree? Or was my qualifications wrongly assessed. Your thoughts please. |

Solitin40:Actually that information is conflicting. It depends on your training institute. Some expecially locally owned stereotypical institutions will refuse but those run by philipinos or indians will still train you. If your in sydney area. Pm me and i can offer advice on realistic institutions wt job offers after placement |

You need not bother yourself with No. 1 at least for now except you are interested in migrating. Meanwhile, there is another thread where you can read up on that: https://www.nairaland.com/3053069/general-guide-australian-permanent-resident Yes, your Uncle can be your sponsor but you would need proof that you are related. E.g. His birth certificate and your mother's assuming he is from your mum's family. Other documents could be mum's marriage certificate or sworn affidavit for change of name. abdullahi45: |

Westafrica, you really understand how things are going out here in Nigeria, like he said the best thing is to get out of Nigeria and review your options, I graduated in 2014,waited for extra one year at home for nysc service, now done with my Nysc since November, I do not want to wait along and hope on miracle, to happen for me here in Nigeria, With the recent happenings one should be very cautious and active not to be sluggish in making decision because the more, u wait the more time passes by without no achievement It's better I follow the student route as Westafrican advised, because I do not wanna waste my time, Nigeria is going crazy Bros, If you are currently in Australia, work hard and live a life worth living as human beings I am still reviewing the schools to apply to, that will allow my sponsor whom is my father to be able to bill it.. I am considering heavily 'Tafe in Queensland Brisbane' Please someone should advise me on this decision Thank you all for your contributions and God bless you all Amen WestAfrican: |

Okies. Would you say that in the context of this SOL/CSOL nomination, social worker is close enough to Sociology? I'm considering my wife being the principal applicant instead since she has a been in a defined job for about five years and she's also a graduate of Sociology. bellong: |

She has been working as a Customer Service Representative those five years with one of the Telecommunications firms in Nigeria until she got promoted recently to be one of the Quality Assurance officers. Though, she had her three months internship during undergraduate studies with an NGO as well as during NYSC with another. bellong: |

abdullahi45:1. You don't need "points" to apply for MSc programs. The point system only applies to Permanent Residency applications. However, you still need to show proficiency in the use of English language by completing one of those tests of English. 2. For a favorable outcome, you would need to answer the same name as your sponsor or be ready to provide some documents that establish relationship between you both. I am not too sure about this, hope you get some inputs from other forum members. |

Yes, I noticed it as at last night it actually had both 190&489 marked on supplementary list or special conditions. Right NOW, it is only 489 marked for Occupation may be eligible. Are you suggesting that we give it a shot? bellong: |
