Why do you think clubs pay top money for top managers? To dance break dance at the touchline?

No. To drill the players to perfection on the training pitch to get the best of them during games.
Top coaches are not paid for drills they are paid for results.

Kingsley Sokari picked in Tunisia league Team of the Week

Former Nigeria U23 midfielder Kingsley Sokari has been named in The Team of the Week of the Tunisian top-flight league after yet another superlative display for CS Sfaxien.

Sokari has provided four assists and scored two goals so far this season. He also won the man of the match award two weeks ago.
He said he is delighted to end 2016 on a high note.

"I am very excited to have ended the year 2016 on a very good note,” he said.

"Making the Tunisia league Team of the Week is a good achievement, it simply means one is being noticed.

Very impressive. With Ndidi and Mikel Agu battling for the defensive midfield role, I think we have enough cover. Still waiting for Chidi Nwakali to blow.

Man of the match Onyekuru says target remains survival in Belgian top flight

https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2016/12/Samm_24_Feb_1.jpg
Onyekuru of Eupen

Man-of-the-match Henry Onyekuru has told AfricanFootball.com he is happy to score a brace to help AS Eupen beat hosts Oostende 3-1 on Monday as his top priority remains to help his team remain in the top flight.

Eupen have so far held their own in the top league after they won promotion last season.

They are now 12thon the 16-team table with 20 points from 21 matches.

"I am happy for the victory, it was a good job from the team as we fought together as a team,” Onyekuru told AfricanFootball.com

"I am excited and thankful for my goals as well as the man of the match award.

"In football everything is possible, but my priority is to help my team remain in the league at the end of the season."

Onyekuru has attracted interests among several top European clubs, but has insisted he is staying put thus far.

Please, I want us to analyze this 48-team World Cup plans very well because it's starting to look like some grand plan to keep the big boys at the top.

So, this morning, I came across some news on it saying the plan is to have 16 groups of 3 teams.

So, it's one team makes it out of the group.

Now, let's imagine these teams are brought about by seeding. So the top seeded 16 teams will each make it into one of the 16 groups each.

So let's imagine the top16 qualified teams on the World Cup are:

Brazil
Chile
Belgium
Italy
England
Spain
Germany
Argentina
Uruguay
France
Netherlands
Japan
Colombia
Mexico
Portugal
Ivory Coast.....

Just imagine these 16 teams in each group, at least 10 of them are sure to qualify from their groups, so why should the other teams bother? why should analysts bother? Save for England, Ivory Coast,Portugal, Japan and maybe Mexico, which other teams will any lower seeded team say with confidence that they can beat to qualify?

Where is the fairness in such a plan?

I mean, they can flood the World Cup with quantity, but by extension, they'll be ridding it of quality

My sister it is still a proposal.

I understand your fear. Just imagine having a group like: Argentina, Nigeria and whoever. Or Germany, Nigeria and whoever, or even Brazil, Nigeria and whoever. Na die be that na.

If they want to make it 48 teams I would prefer 12 groups of 4 teams each. Here the 1st placed teams qualify automatically and the 4 best 2nd placed teams join.
With this format even if Brazil or Germany dey your group you still stand a chance of finishing among the 4 second best teams plus also you are sure to play 3 World cup matches.

People believe making 48 teams would dilute the glamour and standards of which I dnt completely agree. For eg, the following nations missed out in the last world cup: Holland, Sweden, Poland, Bulgaria, Denmark, Serbia, Czech, Egypt, Senegal, S.Korea, Paraguay, Peru, Bolivia, Morocco, Tunisia most of which are traditional world cup teams. The inclusion of any 16 from this list would even add more competition.

However, I would still personally prefer we stay put with the 32 Team format.

Even the fact that countries like Algeria, Cameroon and Senegal could miss Russia, even Ghana if they're not careful would dim it a bit accepted.

I mean, seriously, who will rep Africa if those guys miss out? All this wahala is the fault of FIFA's flawed ranking and seeding

I prefer this your 4 best second placed teams to the 16 group ish

Algeria and Cameroun must surely miss Russia by God's Grace. wink

I think Senegal will manage to qualify. Ghana are likely to crash out.

My predicted Afrcia's representatives would be: Nigeria, Egypt, Senegal, DR. Congo and Ivory Coast. In these 5 African teams we would have strong representation.

One of the ideas of making it a 48 team tourney is to accommodate those strong teams that narrowly miss out. Eg as u mentioned Algeria, Cameroun, Ghana and also the likes of Morocco, Tunisia and even South Africa.

And you are right about using FIFA Ranking to seed teams. You and I know that the FIFA Ranking is just a scientific way of ranking teams but idealistically it is highly flawed.

Everton expect to complete a £10m deal for Charlton's 19-year-old forward Ademola Lookman early in the January transfer window.

I am not against the increase to 48 teams as long as substantial numbers of slots are allocated to Africa.

What I understand from the source I provided below is that the 16 countries that finish highest in the qualifying rounds for the 2026 World Cup would automatically make the group stage of the global football showcase, then the other 32 would play in a preliminary phase, in the country where the World Cup is being played. After what seems as a playoff, the 16 countries that won will qualify to play in the group stages with the other best 16 countries that finish highest in the qualifying rounds but the other 16 losers will go home. It means we continue with a normal World Cup for 32 teams, though 48 teams go to the party.

This is where I do not understand. Will they divide into 12 groups of 4 teams or 16 groups of 3 teams?

But I think FIFA wants the former because you don't expect a team to play playoff and 3 matches before proceeding to the round of 16.

Well, It depends on where we want to look at it.

Since, it is not about seeding based on the useless FIFA ranking, I will consider it.

First of all, how do they know or choose the 16 countries with the highest qualifications? That one needs to be spelt out first before I proceed. Because FIFA fit do mago mago take favor European teams.

I dey observe.
