krattoss:I think some mega money laundry schemes are going down in these clubs. Some drug dealers have as much as $10 Billion to launder. They can claim viewing ads returns due to these players. However, there are lots of clean Billionaires in China. They can afford to invest in these players to raise the value of their league and bring in return in the future. More like a long-term deal. |

tbaba1234: Another nice post. Very interesting and impressive interview. Told alot about Fabian and I hope Rohr looks into him. From the interview, we can draw that he is one of the promising young footballing talents. Which is so impressive. Well educated going through different academies and working with good coaches at the Nike training camp in England. He is fast. That is most important. From the little clip there, he crosses and passes with ease. Also marks well. Guess from his training. I think he also wants support from the Super Eagles team to propel him. He wants the coach to give him a chance. If he breaks in, he sees Super Eagles going places and him growing as a Super Eagles player. He is ambitious and has a dream of winning the World Cup with the Super Eagles. Now that is charming. I hope we are paying Leon Balogun over time for the way he is selling the Super Eagles to Nigerians overseas. By the way, Nice blazers. Wish the young man the best. |

Nigerdeltaboi: Player Spotlight: Fabian Senninger by The Nike Academy German-Nigerian defender Fabian Senninger is a modern day full-back: quick, mobile and good in possession. Fabian’s strong character has given him the foundation to establish himself as a leader within the Academy squad. At the Academy we encourage our players to play out from the back – this means selecting the right pass is a big part of Fabian’s game. Currently we are working through various passing options when he receives the ball in training.

His Nigerian father and uncle want him to play for Germany. You would think that they should be the ones encouraging the kid to play for Nigeria. He has a lot of work to do first, establish himself at Hannover and possibly gain promotion to the Bundesliga. |

tbaba1234: I think we can give him a run in the Friendlies. First, Rohr should check him out in training. If he is a revelation, we can boost his chances at Hannover. Thus killing two birds with one stone. I tire for his father and uncle. |

TheGoodJoe:To put things in perspective the Nike academy has a great brand a great academy is up to debate. I watched the Nike academy(England) get beat by Burnley fc U21 last summer 2-1 if I remember correctly. From that match they signed a Nigerian origin centre back who currently plays for Burnley fc U23's. I did see a German left back who was mixed race don't if it was the same guy. He went on trial but was not offered a contract at Burnley. What I am saying is being in the Nike academy is not a complete sign of exceptional quality some level of good potential yes, but not much more. Is he ready for the National team I really don't know, |

komekn: We can not say if he is ready or not. I am not suggesting that, neither is anyone saying that. What I said, invite him to camp for one of the friendly games and check if he can play a role in helping the team. We must not always wait for ready made stars but play a role in their development. When Clemens Westerhof brought Sunday Oliseh to the National team, he was not ready. Stephen Keshi and some other senior players helped groom him. Through the National team, a potential talent became a top midfielder in the Super Eagles and Europe. |

Wenger: Why Iwobi never went on loan www.nairaland.com/attachments/4674031_alex_jpeg535cd262498912fddf28d19a057ff294 The Gunners boss attributed the Nigerian's direct transition to the first team as key reason why he was not shipped out of the club for more experience. Arsene Wenger has revealed the reason why Alex Iwobi was not allowed to go on loan for more experience before becoming a mainstay in the Arsenal team. The Frenchman who handed the Nigeria international his first team debut in 2015, said the ‘speed’ of 'maturity’ was key to making such decision. “Everybody’s career is different – the maturing phase is different for everyone,” Wenger told Arsenal Magazine. “Some stand still and then suddenly have an acceleration in the speed of their maturity which allows them to get straight into the first team. “Some take advantage of situations where players are injured. You give them a chance and they don’t need to go through the loan step because they have been given an acceleration to the first team. “Some are not completely ready so they need to go to another club where they can acquire that maturity. “Everybody is different but, for 90 per cent of the players, the loan phase is an important one.” m.goal.com/x/en-ng/news/4110/nigerians-abroad/2016/12/29/30952472/wenger-why-iwobi-never-went-on-loan |

NFF did not extort Super Eagles - Enebi Claim that Gernot Rohr’s men were shortchanged by the country’s football ruling body after defeating Algeria has been discredited. The Nigeria Football Federation has refuted claims that they extorted the country's senior national football team. Report by an African football website had fingered the country’s football body for underpaying Gernot Rohr’s men after they silenced Algeria 3-1 in November’s 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifier. But the NFF has moved to dismiss the allegation – with Super Eagles’ team administrator, Dayo Enebi stating the news was a trumped-up story. “That report is a fabrication. The estimate we sent to the government was for the sum of N1million for each player for a win. Nobody has been shortchanged,” team administrator Enebi told Nff website. “Sometimes in March this year, the NFF held a meeting with some technical crew members, team captain and vice captain, on behalf of the team, and told them to open bank accounts (in Nigeria) as the federation was no longer disposed to paying cash. “It was also at that meeting that the NFF told them they would no longer be paid in dollars for home matches, and that the win bonus for home match was a flat rate of N1million. The meeting took place at the team’s hotel in Kaduna and I was present at the meeting. “It was based on this that the players were paid the sum of N500,000 each for the draw against Egypt in Kaduna (2017 Cup of Nations qualifier, March 2016) and the sum of N1million each for the win against Tanzania in Uyo (2017 Cup of Nations qualifier, September 2016). Their camp allowance has also been paid in naira (N50,000 per day) since March 2016.” He also confirmed that for away matches, the players are entitled to the sum of $5,000 at the official rate obtaining at the time of match. “The NFF has not shortchanged the players,” he continued. “The match against Algeria was a home match. “Whenever the win bonus for the match against Zambia in Ndola is being paid, it would be $5,000 per player at the official rate that obtained at the time the match was played.” Nigeria top Group B with six points, and will host Cameroon in their next game on August 28, 2017. m.goal.com/x/en-ng/news/17252/super-eagles/2016/12/29/30955142/nff-did-not-extort-super-eagles-enebi |

Christian Ohaa, permanent secretary of the sports ministry, said on Thursday that the allegations will be investigated. “Based on the amount released to the NFF, nobody should shortchange the players again and I can tell you that we will look into it, I just got the report now and we will look into it,” Ohaa said. AfricanFootball.com had reported on Wednesday, allegations by some Super Eagles players of being shortchanged on their win bonus for the 2018 World Cup qualifier against Algeria by the NFF. Although, the NFF denied the allegations via a statement released also on Wednesday, claiming they had an agreement with the players to be paid a flat sum of a million Naira for home wins. Eagles coach at the time NFF claimed they reached the agreement Samson Siasia has denied the team agreed to be paid a million Naira for a home win. “I don’t know anything about one million (Naira),” Siasia opened up when contacted on Thursday. “The agreement was that they will pay the equivalent of dollars at the bank rate, official rate. I don’t know about anything else.” The Super Eagles’ win bonus is $5,000 per player, which would be N1,525,000 when converted at the official N305 to the dollar, but the players received a million Naira each instead, with the NFF claiming that bonuses for home wins was pegged at a flat fee of a million Naira, with only away wins attracting the $5,000. AF Nigeria 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers - Africa Zambia Eagles insist they never agreed a million Naira for home win by Samm Audu The last has certainly not been heard about the latest pay row involving the Super Eagles after both the players and officials insisted that there was never a meeting with the NFF where they agreed to be paid a million Naira for a home win. The Eagles were paid a million Naira each for the home win over Algeria in a 2018 World Cup qualifier and they have since come out to allege they were shortchanged. “There was never a meeting with the NFF where we agreed to be paid a million Naira as bonus for a home win,” one of the players maintained. "Who were the officials at the meeting? Samson Siasia? Emmanuel Amuneke? Salisu Yusuf? Or who? “The NFF should stop dishing out lies after lies.” Another player admitted that they were paid a million Naira for another home win over Tanzania, but they did not agree to be paid that amount. “I only received an alert of a million Naira for the win over Tanzania, but we never agreed to be paid that amount,” he said. “Another thing - how do you equate an AFCON qualifier with a World Cup qualifier? “NFF came up with a million Naira at 200 Naira a dollar. When did they become Central Bank of Nigeria to fix an exchange rate?” The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have come out to deny the Eagles were shortchanged. An official statement quoted Eagles’ team administrator Dayo Enebi Achor. “That report is a fabrication. The estimate we sent to the Government was for the sum of N1million for each player for a win. Nobody has been shortchanged. “Sometimes in March this year, the NFF held a meeting with some technical crew members, team captain and vice-captain, on behalf of the team, and told them to open bank accounts (in Nigeria) as the federation was no longer disposed to paying cash. “It was also at that meeting that the NFF told them they would no longer be paid in dollars for home matches, and that the win bonus for home match was a flat rate of N1million. AF Nigeria 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers - Africa Zambia Siasia: Eagles did not agree million Naira bonus https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2016/12/siasia580.jpg Siasia by Samm Audu Samson Siasia, head coach at the time the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) claimed they met with the Super Eagles and it was agreed the win bonus for a home win was pegged at a million Naira, has denied there was such an agreement. In an official press statement Wednesday signed by spokesman Ademola Olajire and quoting Eagles team administrator, Dayo Enebi, the NFF claimed officials as well as captain and vice-captain were at a meeting in Kaduna in March when it was agreed the players will be paid a million Naira each for a home win. But Siasia has now rubbished such a claim. “I don’t know anything about one million (Naira),” Siasia opened up when contacted on Thursday. “The agreement was that they will pay the equivalent of dollars at the bank rate, official rate. I don’t know about anything else.” He was further questioned – The agreement they had with you was they will pay with current bank rate and there was no time that the players will be paid a million Naira each for a home win? “No, no, no,” he replied. Several other officials equally denied any agreement that the players be paid a million Naira each for a Super Eagles home win. They were to be paid $5,000 for a home win at the official Naira rate the time the match was played. Further investigations revealed that at the time of the AFCON double-header qualifiers against Egypt, the official bank rate to the USD was around 200 Naira and that explained why they were paid 500,000 Naira each for the home draw with Egypt ($2500 x 200). The Eagles were paid a million Naira each, being the same rate, when they beat Tanzania in an AFCON in September, that was even when the Naira had seriously depreciated even at bank rate. The players therefore ought to receive far more for the 2018 World Cup qualifier against Algeria in Uyo in November because the Naira had depreciated against the dollar and the official rate was between 310 and 315 Naira. africanfootball.com/news/674547/Siasia-Eagles-did-not-agree-million-Naira-bonus |

terzurum5: Thanks for the updates. Can not thank you enough. “Whenever the win bonus for the match against Zambia in Ndola is being paid, it would be $5,000 per player at the official rate that obtained at the time the match was played.” The Scam is clear as pure water. Please, NFF top officials, balance the players. So if dollar rose to N1,000, the NFF would have paid the players N200 and took N800. Nna Fear God. ![]() |
