Re: Nurse Pulls Off Baby’s Hand During Delivery In Ikorodu by JuneOctober(f): 12:51pm On Dec 29, 2016
Ridiculous. The same way a woman I know lost her life and baby by going to an unprofessional nurse abi midwife. Why not save yourself the pain and go to a good hospital... If you're not well to do, during your pregnancy, the husband should gather money or if you no get husband, your relatives should gather money to help you deliver safely.

Good nurse! So when the baby came forth with his hand, she decided to draw the hand like a generator.

If you love your life, make plans for yourself. He who fails to plan, plans to fail.

And why is a Nursing Assistant performing the duty of a trained midwife ? She surely went above and beyond her job description ....... Throw all the legal books at her .......
Very logical of you... The problem is not all about quackery or whatever people are shouting.

The problem is know your profession, your responsibility and act within the limit of your profession ethical standard.

I don't know what will give a Nurse Assistance audacity to provide delivery of a pregnant woman when mid-wifery nurse are there to attend to such need. A Nurse Assistance should only be present to provide support and provision of necessary tools for smooth process and to act under the guidance of a registered Nurse.

A medical doctor acting as an Engineer or a Lawyer acting as an electrician will fail. Even in a vertical occupation, a male nurse proving to be a doctor will cause a misfit or mismatch.

Therefore the vast majority of Nigerian should be careful in impersonating other profession and be wary of the resultant effect. More of a reason there is a set standard and we should try to overlook economic or social gain so as not to endanger other peoples life.

God Bless Nigeria

Not all nurses with degree can deliver without assistance. That is why you have midwives who are trained to do this job. Even at that, a doctor is usually on the stand by in case of anything unusual
Exactly my point...!!! However , auxiliary Nurse in our hospitals should be scrapped.

The main problem with the job is the Industry. I have had numerous discussions with trained nurses, and they always say nothing like Nurses Assistants, health care assistants or clinical support workers.

Lots needs to be done by the Ministry of Health, all stakeholders, hospitals and clinics, to clearly define the industry and put controls in place.

Nursing Assistants are not quacks, if they maintain their and act within the job description of the role.............. Infact they are a healthy addition to the trained Nurses......

That is absolute fact.. I always admire people that can be open and objective. The issue is a cankerworm that has eaten deep into the medical system and instead of looking at the etiological factors people tend to look otherwise.

Nice to read from an objective person of the same opinion. I have been insulted on this issue numerous times, I almost felt I must be wrong...............
The whole industry needs a holistic review on the roles of the NA's, roles definition, investment, training or retraining, prosecutions etc etc etc

The system is totally sick.

The more sad thing is that apc is not a serious minded government to improve the situation.

Possibly in the context of the Nigerian medical system, Auxiliary Nurses means quack..........

The true definition of Auxiliary Nurses, Care Support Workers, or Healthcare Assistants - Simply means providing assistance to trained/ qualified Nurses in performing their duties effectively.

They are simply assisting to provide care services, within a job description.

This issue of Quacks has been an issue for a long time, and not dissappearing anytime soon........ I think it's hightime all stakeholders have a joint up thinking and try
to find a lasting solution or official incorporate the so called 'quacks', into the medical framework to provide services within their job descriptions......
