Alex Iwobi the first Nigerian to score in 2017. I wonder if they want him to go back to Nigeria now. |

Happy New Year all! My first comment for 2017: Alex Iwobi is a "number 10" and not a winger! I have long waited for this day that Ozil would miss out and allow Iwobi play his natural position. The boy na real baller. Plus even scoring. |

The best coaches in the PL are Conte and Klopp. Mou and Pep are starting to look like money coaches. Klopp in particular has a bunch of average players but he has got them playing. |

tbaba1234:I wouldn't call his players average but very good. Sturridge is an excellent striker with injury issues that prevents him from being World class. Coutinho is an excellent player that could be within the top ten in his position. But I really really Like Klopp devoid of corruption and he is exceedingly passionate about what he does wears his heart on his sleeve. Great manager and coach. Conte is becoming the indisputable heavy weight champion of the EPL. |

AF Nigeria Premier League 2016/2017 Crystal Palace Dubious goals panel credits Iwobi with Arsenal goal Alex Iwobi started 2017 on a high after the dubious goals panel adjudged he scored for Arsenal to keep alive their Premier League title chase on the back of a 2-0 win over London neigbours Crystal Palace. The goals accreditation panel, widely referred to as the dubious goals panel, ruled that the headed effort of Iwobi was not an own goal by Joel Ward, who helped the ball into his own net. The lively Iwobi doubled Arsenal lead in the 56th minute, when he headed home his third goal of the season, but it seemed Ward played a big part in ensuring the ball crossed the goal line. Last month, Iwobi also netted in Arsenal 3-1 home win over Stoke City. He has posted 15 appearances in the league for the London Gunners this season. Arsenal thus climbed to third on the table on 40 points, three points behind second-placed Liverpool and nine points behind leaders Chelsea. africanfootball.com/news/675166/Dubious-goals-panel-credits-Iwobi-with-Arsenal-goal |

Why should I believe this crap? Mikel almost ended my career - Clattenburg Biyi Akangbe Premier League referee, Mark Clattenburg has broken his silence over the row with Chelsea midfielder Mikel John Obi. The EPL referee was accused of saying “shut up you monkey” to the Super Eagles’ captain in 2012. The FA accepted the player had believed the referee had racially abused him – but Clattenburg was found to have no case to answer. Chelsea star Mikel was subsequently given a three-match ban and fined £60,000 by the FA for threatening behaviour. In a rare interview, Clattenburg has spoken only about the incident and how it affected him. He told AP: “It was a tough moment in life and the pressures were huge. “It took me a little while to come back because I didn’t know if I wanted to referee or not because I lost the love for refereeing. “I am strong willed now. I do what I believe is correct. I’m a professional but I have to make sure I apply my personality to the pitch because you have to have personality and not robots. Players want a little bit of personality.” www.soccernet.com.ng/2017/01/mikel-almost-ended-my-career-clattenburg.html |

Baba God make this a reality pls Arsenal battle Monaco, Leicester for Nigerian midfielder Biyi Akangbe Nigerian midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo is being targeted for a possible January transfer by Premier League giants, Arsenal and reigning champions Leicester City. Alongside the Premier League duo, French club Monaco and Italian outfit Atalanta are also said to be monitoring Etebo’s progress in the Portuguese Super Liga, CompleteSports reports. British media reports that the Premier League duo sent scouts to watch Etebo in action for CD Feirense in their 1-1 draw against FC Porto on Thursday. Etebo, 21, burst onto the global stage after scoring four goals for Nigeria’s U-23 side against Japan in their opening fixture at the Rio 2016 Olympics. The former Warri Wolves attacking midfielder has been one of Nigeria’s most promising talents in recent years. He was named Africa’s most promising talent at the Glo/CAF awards last year after emerging top scorer at the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations in Senegal. He linked up with Feirense from Nigeria Professional Football League club Warri Wolves early this year, and has caught the eye with his box-to-box displays and eye for goal. www.soccernet.com.ng/2017/01/arsenal-battle-monaco-leicester-for.html |

In 2017 Fans Of Gent Will See The “Okocha” In Me – Rabiu Ibrahim https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/image.jpg One time “Golden Boy” of Nigerian football Rabiu Ibrahim says fans of Belgian side Gent will see his true form this year when the league resumes. Rabiu has not had the best of time since joining Gent in the summer from Slovakian side Trencin, but the 24 year old believes he is now fully settled and ready to deliver. The Nigerian who has been widely compared to former Super Eagles captain Austin Okocha told Owngoalnigeria.com that he will show the fans the reason why he is labeled the new Okocha by Nigerians. ” It took me a while to get use to the physical side of the Belgian league. I am fully settled now, and the real me will be seen by the fans of the club”, Rabiu told Owngoalnigeria.com in Kaduna. ” I understand the frustration of the fans but this year 2017, they will get to see the reason why Nigerians labeled me the new Austin Okocha. I can’t wait to deliver”. owngoalnigeria.com/2017/01/01/in-2017-fans-of-gent-will-see-the-okocha-in-me-rabiu-ibrahim/ |

terzurum5:Somebody should tell Thiery Henry that Victor Moses is from Nigeria. Henry can't tell me he never knew Moses from his days with Wigan Athletic. Thiery Henry Reacts To Moses Dribble That Sent Stoke Defender To The Floor – I Don’t Know Where Victor Moses Came From But… https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/image-5.jpg Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has given his thoughts on Victor Moses brilliant piece of skill that sent Stoke City defender Erik Pieters to the turf during Chelsea 4-2 win over Stoke City. Moses sent Peters to the floor with a clever piece of skill before delivering a cross into the box which Diego Costa laid for Willian to score Chelsea’s second goal. While Costa’s one touch assist and Willian’s brilliant left foot finish appears to have stolen the limelight for the goal, Henry is of the opinion that Moses deserves some credit for initiating the move. “I don’t know where Victor Moses came from but he’s playing really well. The second goal scored by Chelsea was started by him, the way he took the defender out is something we don’t usually see on a regular”, Henry said. “If Chelsea carry on the way they are, by not conceding defeat, they could be champions as early as the first quarter of next year”. owngoalnigeria.com/2017/01/01/thiery-henry-reacts-to-moses-dribble-that-sent-stoke-defender-to-the-floor-i-dont-know-where-victor-moses-came-from-but/ |

Moyes Confirms Anichebe Copped Hamstring Injury Vs Burnley https://www.completesportsnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/images.jpg Sunderland manager David Moyes has confirmed that Nigerian forward Victor Anichebe suffered a hamstring injury in his side’s 4-1 Premier League away loss to Burnley on Saturday. Anichebe was hurt when giving chase to George Boyd as Burnley counter-attacked after clearing a Black Cats free-kick and limped off in first-half injury time. This is Anichebe’s fourth injury since joining Sunderland as a free agent. In September, Anichebe suffered a groin strain before being sidelined with a rib injury in November. And he sustained a knock in December. “Victor has pulled his hamstring,” Moyes told the Sunderland Echo. “I’ve not checked with the medical team as yet how bad or good it is at the moment, so we’ll just have to see how he is.” Aside from Anichebe, Sunderland lost Jason Denayer and Lamine Kone also to hamstring injuries in the game against Burnley. www.completesportsnigeria.com/moyes-confirms-anichebe-hamstring-injury/ |

Iwobi: My Goal Vs Palace Great Way To Start 2017 https://www.completesportsnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/image-1.jpeg Super Eagles forward Alex Iwobi is delighted that he has started new year 2017 with a goal. Iwobi doubled Arsenal's lead after Olivier Giroud had opened scoring in a 2-0 win against Crystal Palace in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. It was Iwobi's second league goal of the season in 15 appearances. Iwobi told arsenal.com he was unfazed with the manner of the goal, delivered with a header. He also hailed his teammates for starting the new year on a winning note. "It was a great feeling. It was a bit unorthodox, but a goal’s a goal and I’m happy to start 2017 with a goal," a happy Iwobi said. "It was a great way to start the new year, to show to the fans some commitment and some desire, and I feel like we showed that today. It was a great team performance." Commenting on Giroud's wonder goal, Iwobi described it as a lucky goal but however praised the French striker for the goal. "That was great team play and for Oli to pull that out – I don’t think if he tried that again he could do that! It was a credit to him and it was a great ball from Alexis and a great team goal." Recalling his memorable moments of 2016, Iwobi picked his first UEFA Champions League start against Barcelona at the Nou Camp in the second leg round of 16 and his goals last season as his best moments of 2016. "Playing against Barcelona and scoring Premier League goals – there were some special moments in 2016. But it’s all in the past now. I’m concentrating on the future and being the best that I can." And ahead of Arsenal's next league game away to Bournemouth, Iwobi said: "We’ll just have to focus on our next game, take it as it comes. Hopefully, we’ll see what happens at the end of the season. "We should be [ready to go again in 48 hours]. We need to recover well and train again and prepare for Bournemouth." www.completesportsnigeria.com/iwobi-goal-vs-palace-great-way-start-2017/ |

Ighalo Struggles, Kane Equals Henry Record As Spurs Bash Watford https://www.completesportsnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/IMG_20170101_162316.jpg By Adeboye Amosu: Harry Kane fired a brace on his 100th English Premier League appearance as Tottenham Hotspur beat fellow Londoners Watford 4-1 at Vicarage Road on Sunday, reports Comple tesportsnigeria.com. It was the fourth win in a row for Mauricio Pocchettino’s men. Tottenham were on top from kick-off and they managed to turn possession into goals in the game. Kane scored the opener a minute before the half hour mark, firing the ball past Heurello Gomes following a delightful cross from Kieran Trippier. The Englishman got his second of the game six minutes later with Trippier also supplying the cross. Kane took his EPL tally to 59 goals in 100 games, the same as Thierry Henry at that stage of the Arsenal legend’s career. The hosts looked dispirited afterwards and conceded the third two minutes into first half stoppage time with Dele Alli capitalizing on a poor clearance by Younes Kaboul to beat Gomes. It took Spurs only one minute to add to their lead after the break with Alli scoring his second of the encounter. Nigeria international Odion Ighalo was involved from the start in the clash and extended his barren spell to 12 games. Ighalo was initially named on the bench by Watford coach, Walter Mazzarri, but was recalled into the starting line-up following injury to Camilo Zuniga. He last scored for the Hornets in their match day three fixture against Sunderland. www.completesportsnigeria.com/ighalo-struggles-kane-equals-henry-record-spurs-bash-watford/ |

Anichebe since he fractured his leg and compensated by beefing up when he was at Everton. Has always been prone to these muscular strain injuries. I really fear for him, he struggles to get a run of just 10 games without injury. This has really hampered his progression as a quality striker. After that loss with such a huge margin to lowly Burnley. The championship is saying Sunderland welcome this is where you belong. |

tbaba1234: Who are the money buys of Guardiola? Stones, Sane? Those are not big buys. Definitely not Gundogan. Most of Guardiola's purchases are youngsters. Moreno, Gabriel, Sane. Klopp's edge is that this is not his first season with the team. He had a chance to study and fix his team in different areas. Judge Guardiola after his second Summer transfers. When many of the players over thirty are replaced. As for Conte, he has been phenomenal. Amazing result so far in his first season. |

daveP: It was a balanced game. Both teams played well and dominated at different times of the game. I wonder what is fear and Rep. Unless people who do not understand what is going on at City, this is a rebuilding phase. So far, he has done well. We finished fourth last season and qualified for the Champions League through the playoffs. We are buying young players and working with the academy to mould the team. It takes time to achieve it. It is not magic. What matters is that we are playing well. |

tbaba1234: Is that money buy? Sane 19 when Guardiola bought him is money buy. I doubt he has started up to five games for us. He is a youngster for the future. Guardiola announced Gabriel Jesus needs time to blend into the team. That is no way money buy. Players like Lovren, Clyne Emre Can, Origi, Wijnaldum (although most are not Klopp buys) have more rep. The problem with football is inflation. That is not money buy. Players like De Bruyne, Suarez, Pogba, Higuain are money buys. |

tbaba1234: For instance, I followed Wijnaldum when he was a youngster at Feyenoord. He used to play like Ronaldinho on the wings and had dreds. He played over a hundred games for Feyenoord. Then played over a hundred games for PSV before Newcastle. Will you categorize Sterling a bigger player than him because of the inflated price? |
