@icon4s, chrisooblog, bascovanveli and lexyman

This una line-up, is it long term or short term? Cuz I think you guys are forgetting Osimhen and Nwakali if it's long term undecided

Oh, and icon4s, Iwoni may have had a run of bad games, but no one asked for him to go anywhere because Wenger had faith in him enough to give him continual playing time. I think he only benched him twice or so after the OG incident and it wasn't in the EPL. That is hardly similar to Kelechi who gets 10 minutes sparingly and then a brandom starting slots once in a blue moon

Iwobi and Kelechi's situations are different.

please, I want to ask...which friendly do we have this month?

The proposed January friendly against Egypt in Dubai was cancelled after negotiations broken down between the two sides.

so nothing for january

The latest is against Senegal, the game is scheduled for the March 2017 FIFA window with London the proposed venue. cheesy

We are looking forward to the Remaining matches of the 2018 WC qualifiers isn't it? All matches would be played this year 2017.
The nearest one being the double header against Cameroun in August. Do you see Osimhen and K. Nwakali being in the team's first 11 then?
Please give me your view on that.

Yes Etebo brings defensive cover on the left side but I'm not sure he will perform optimally as a LWF. On iheanacho I get your point about him not taking iwobi's AM position but the issue I'm trying to raise is I want players in positions they can produce maximally. Even if it will involve tweaking the formation at least now we have more talented personnel to try new things out.
Did you watch Etebor at the Rio Olympics?

that's why I asked 'long term' or 'short term'......BTW, who says 18-year old Osimhen can't start a game by September this year?

U say which experience? He has won a nations cup. He leads Greece in goals and he wasn't bad against Zambia. He should be in the squad we need leaders among our young stars.

Nothing is impossible.

However, I cannot be drawing a super eagles starting 11 likely to start against Cameroun and the rest of our matches this year and you expect me to include Osimhen and Nwakali.

Let Osimhen start playing games for his club first before we can assess his readiness. K.Nwakali is not likely to break into the Super Eagles starting 11 this year.

Footballers have ups and downs, the question is how long will those ups and downs last.

Sometimes it is a reflection of environment being in the wrong team or needing the right team.

Iwobi has barely had a complete season in the top flight. And we are already putting a world class tag on him, the same thing follows for Kelechi.

I really do not get carried away with the emotional sentiment of being a Nigerian fan. The blind support that is so fickle in my opinion we are setting these boys up to fail. By putting unrealistic expectations on them.

They are very good players but a long way from being World class. It took Raheem Sterling about three seasons to get some consistency.

Ok, sis. wink

But that front-line could be a long term.

I will only include Osimhen after assessing his performance when he starts playing at Wolfsburg.
Besides the bar is raised now. He needs to prove he is better than Iheanacho to be in the starting 11.

No automatic shirt for any young player.

Iwobi bound to score more goals - Wenger

https://mtnfootball.com//bp_images/2017/01/1hgjim8bw6e3u1l6po2plroqdh.jpg
Arsenal attacker Alex Iwobi

by goal feed

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is confident Alex Iwobi will start scoring on a more regular basis after he netted only his second Premier League goal of the season in the 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.

The Nigeria international has struggled somewhat in front of goal this campaign and some have questioned his finishing skills.

Nevertheless, Wenger has offered Iwobi words of encouragement in the wake of Sunday's victory and stressed that he already saw the versatile attacker's goal coming on the training pitch.

"There are always signs when a guy starts to score goals in training that they will come in games, and he has that. Now in training he starts to score goals. I am sure he will score as well in the games," Wenger stated at a news conference.

"I believe he is always available, quick in his movement, wants the ball, can hold people off. On top of that, now he starts to score goals. People forget he is 20 years old. I think he had a very good game.

"His quality of pass, of availability, is exceptional for a young boy. He lacked a bit of quality of [receptiveness] in dangerous areas and I hope that these goals he scores now will give him the taste as well to go where he can finish it off."

From your view, Argentina set Messi up to fail when Messi was declared the heir to Maradona's throne when he was a teenager. What of Neymar who had the tag of having the ability of becoming better than the Brazilian greats.

Have you seen the reviews of Gabriel Jesus? Some tag him as becoming as good as Messi.

When much is expected from young players, they work hard to achieve it. I can say Iheanacho has the best aerial presence among the forward lines of City. It took hardwork and perseverance to achieve that. Iheanacho and De Bruyne stand out in pressing. That is why these players get the tags. It helps them set big goals and work hard to achieve it.

In other words.........TheGoodJoe abeg help me complete am.

You can see and feel the pressure on Iheanacho already.

Iwobi is far less under pressure. Little was heard of him before he broke into the Arsenal starting 11. He has even surpassed many's expectations. I personally initially saw Iwobi as one of those mediocre English press hyped kids just like Akpom, Ibe and the likes. That guy has shown great potentials. Very skillful and plays with so much ease and confidence for a player his age.

Iheanacho on his own part has been tagged (let me borrow a phrase from TheSuerNerd) 'world beater'. The expectation on him is so high and peeps always forget he is just 20years old.

I personally see Iheanacho as a player that would do great things, but whether he would be a 'world beater' it is left to him. It is wrong for people to already start comparing him with Aguero. How was Aguero performing when he was 20? Did he have the kind of killer instinct Iheanacho has now? Aguero grew with time, so let us see Iheanacho grow with time. He is not.. lipsrsealed

I have learnt to maintain a moderate expectation of these young lads. Whether they would outperform or under perform expectations, it is left to them.

Seriously speaking Isaac Success is about the most unfortunate of this new generation.
You saw how he emerged highest goal scorer at CAF U17 only for him to be hit by injury in the second game of the U17 WC.

During the U20 WC I dnt know how coach Manu would prefer Awoniyi over Success even though Success scored our first goal in the competition. He came in as a sub against North Korea and scored meanwhile Awoniyi that was the favored striker had not seen the back of the net.

God should just deliver him from his injury problems.

I have followed this thing for too long. I have seen mind blowing talents like Giovanni Dos Santos and Gai Assulin fall on the way. Yet I have seen Aguero and Messi light up the football scene.

The secret (mostly from CR7) is never believe you are good enough. Keep working hard and believe you have more to offer. People like Robinho felt they knew it all and stopped working hard.

Balotelli believed the same and recently confessed that he just started working hard at Nice. So the likes of Iheanacho and Iwobi, K. Nwakali and C. Nwakali, Osimhen and Ndidi need the pressure to keep working hard.

Isaac Success should key in to some of the messages of Guardiola. He looks too heavy. Too much muscles. He should work on reducing his weight, which in turn will increase his speed and reduce his injuries.

I know we have had this argument way back but let me jst cite something here. Aguero, Messi and Christiano Ronlado did not play the U17 world cup. Most of the stars that have emerged form the U20 WC have gone to do great things. Look at Maradona too. But the U17, the only star performer that managed to keep his head above is Sesc Fabregas. Mikel too tried. Don't you think we hype the U17 performance too much in this country?

Bro I did not watch the gane but from the commentaries I read, Nacho lost 2 good chances.
He had his chance but did not take it.
You cannot blame Pep for that. You can only blame Nacho.

Pep perhaps wanted to conserve the strength of his main team against lowly burnley, and it was up to Nacho to perform. But he didnt.

Perhaps Nacho should take a loan move. I read Watford wants him on loan. He stands a better chance of benching Ighalo and partnering successfully with Isaac and Deneey at Watford which would bring him massive improvements.

The situation at city seems to be killing his confidence.

I say....NACHO SHOULD GO ON LOAN!!
Nonsense! When would you natives stop taking the assessments of the racist English pundits in judging our players?

I watched the game, Nacho didn't miss any chance despite all the craps the commentators were saying. On the first chance, anyone could've missed it because the goalie did a fantastic job in coming out. Hence, you shouldn't call that a miss. For the second chance, the ball just fell awkwardly in between his legs and there was no way he could've gotten a clear shot off. Again, that wasn't his fault.

You guys need to watch the game with your eyes open and quit swallowing every crap those racist pundits spue out. The boy tried his best....he was getting into positions but the selfish Raheem Sterling couldn't get passes to him. And by the way, why isn't anyone talking about Raheem Sterling who lost a a very clear cut chance by failing down when he could've scored? What if Aguero didn't save his blushes? Is it because he plays for England?

BS upon BS!!

And by the way, I agreed with Pep's decision to sub Nacho in the second since they were playing a man down. However, what I can't understand is why he started the game with Navas and left Silva on the bench. Pep would start winning again once he realizes that his best team does not include Navas and Sterling. Those two should always start on the bench. And someone needs to tell him that Nacho can play with Aguero as a support striker. So it doesn't have to be either or.

There are lot more players who were hyped that did not live up to the hype, than those who did.

Less expectation less pressure more progress in general.

I remember Chrisantus, Rabui Ibrahim (New JJ), Ravel Morrison, Awoniyi, etc, etc.

Balotelli is a victim of racism, deceit, manipulation and misrepresentation. I immediately knew he was going to make it at Nice. His talent was never in doubt, I must add he's a really nice guy too.
