The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has called for a sovereignty referendum in its bid to actualising Biafra from Federal Republic of Nigeria.

IPOB said in a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, said it does not require the permission of the Federal Government Nigeria to seek its “natural freedom”.

The statement said, “IPOB leadership invites the international community, men and women of goodwill to come and monitor this peaceful referendum in Biafraland. IPOB family members worldwide are working tirelessly to restore our long lost freedom and political independence without bloodshed.

“We, Biafrans, in pursuit of our inalienable, irreducible and God-given right to restore our stolen sovereignty, do hereby state that we do not require the permission of government officials to grant us our natural freedom.

“With these reasons, the path to Biafra independence must and will not pass through Abuja because it is a process that will be considered by Biafrans only and no other people.

“In line with this, we have decided to adopt the option of self-rule. For as long as Biafra remains a part of Nigeria, we will remain forever slaves in our own land.

“More so, the right to self-determination is always implemented through a referendum with the participation of all residents in the land.

“This path has also been implemented recently by South Sudan, Greenland, Kosovo, Albania, East Timor, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro among others. Scotland has also exercised this right to self-determination and so has the Quebec region in Canada. If these nations, populated by humans like Biafrans, can exercise this right, so can we.

“In all these newly created countries, their citizens voted in a referendum with international monitoring bodies, which ensured the validity of the votes cast. The same referendum can also be conducted in Biafraland and monitored by international observers.”

Leaders and people of Niger Delta will defend Nigeria’s unity because they believe the country should remain as one indivisible entity, River State Governor Nyesom Wike has said.

Speaking during a visit to Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Saad Abubakar at his palace, Wike said Nigeria’s unity is ‘non-negotiable’ and of paramount importance.

He added that the interest of Nigerians and Africans would be better served with Nigeria remaining as one “strong and united nation”.

He said: “Let me first of all sincerely thank you, our father the Sultan, for what you are doing for this country, working tirelessly to ring peace and to bring unity to the people. So, for all of us, this is what is meant by one Nigeria.

“We cannot run away from this country. The unity of this country is very, very paramount. The unity of this country is non-negotiable. I am from the Niger Delta, from Rivers State to be specific. So, I cannot see us in a divided country. No way. We stand for the unity of this country,” Wike added.

[/quoteWike under fire over comment on Nigeria’s indivisibility

THREE civil society organizations in the Niger Delta, yesterday, disagreed with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State on his recent statement that the unity of the country was not negotiable, saying his unconditional support for the unity and indivisibility of a defective federal structure that favours only a section of the country was unacceptable. The groups, Niger Delta Security Watch Organization of Nigeria, NDSWON, Ijaw People Development Initiative, IPDI, and Foundation for Human Rights and Anti- Corruption Crusade, FHRACC, in a joint statement by their leaders, Dickson Bekederemo, Austin Ozobo and Alowei Cleric, respectively in Warri, Delta State, said: “The unity and indivisibility of Nigeria does not exist in the minds and hearts of the federating regions that constitute the country. The unity and indivisibility of Nigeria exists only in a piece of document called the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria 1999. Nyesom Wike Our attention has been drawn to a statement credited to our most respected governor, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State that leaders and people of the Niger Delta will always strive to defend the unity of Nigeria because to them, the country remaining as one indivisible entity is not negotiable and of paramount importance. While we acknowledge the fact that Governor Wike is loved and respected in the Niger Delta region as a result of resilience in warding off the invaders of our oil wealth, we find it difficult to stomach his unconditional support for the unity and indivisibility of this defective federal structure that favours only a section of the country. “A united people rather see themselves as an egalitarian society other than creating the feudal system where a vast majority of Nigerians are made to beg alms from the feudal lords. A united people will not celebrate ethno-religious killings where some people are religiously bound to kill others with impunity. Is there any unity in Nigeria where only a particular section is qualified to rule the country while others are regarded as second fiddle citizens? A united people will not pass obnoxious laws to deprive the actual owners of their God given resources. A united people will not use their secured majority in the National House of Assembly to continually oppress the minorities by refusing to amend the oppressive sections of the Constitution that denied the minorities ownership of their resources. We want to say such unity is likening to the unity between the snake and the mouse. The mouse can only exist at the whims and caprices of the snake.” According to them: “Until the North comes to the realization that we need one another to co-exist in Nigeria, the unity of Nigeria remains negotiable. The North and South were amalgamated by late Lord Luggard of Britain. It was not God that brought us together.”

We yorubas are angry about this. Why do Biafrans want to abandon we yorubas to our fate in the hands of the hausas and fulani. These people will finish our yorubaland and chase us to Benin republic. Biafra please don't go, stay and save us.

Way to go. For those of you who would argue that referendum is not in the zoo's constitution, remember that referendum wasn't in Sudan constitution too when she conducted a referendum for South Sudan. All IPOB needs is to invite the EU to monitor the referendum. With a Yes vote, European countries would have no choice but to recognize Biafra.

But you want Biafrans to be forced and to stay in this British created experiment?

IGBOS DON'T WANT TO LEAVE NIGERIA
Forget the whole Biafra biz,Igbos will rather have their testicles pounded in a mortar than secede from Nigeria. Igbos have remained the singular tribe ready to clutch to Nigeria no matter what. Check this out.
1. Every day, hundreds of Igbos migrate to northern and SW Nigeria. Those tribes don't reciprocate in kind.
2. Ohaneze declared support for One Nigeria.
3. Ohaneze Youths said they'll never leave Nigeria.
4. Igbo leaders in North said they'll remain in Nigeria.
5. Igbo clergy,Trad Rulers,Musicians,Footballers, Students, Corpers,all want Nigeria.
6. PM News revealed Igbos contributed largest in online funding for Pmb election.
7. The only place Pmb got title during campaign was Aba (He was conferred with Ogbuagu of Aba).
8. Ifeanyi Ubah's Club just won Nigeria premier league.
9. Even the thief called Kanu sponsored mock Nigeria League in Kuje.
10. Igbos are holding and still lobbying for political office in Nigeria.
11. Kanu has made Ipob a tool for mere blackmail of Buhari into giving presidency to an Igbo senator I will soon name. This is why Ipob can't pressure Igbo Nass members to move motion for self govt. Nigeria got independence from Britain, not by abusing the Queen, but by Enahoro's motion for self govt.
Finally,Kanu remains accursed for deceiving vulnerable, illiterate Igbos to death. Kanu is doomed. The people he has killed will hunt him.
