Hello, I'm a 300l student of medicine and surgery, university of Ibadan. I got admitted thru DE. I'm available for any questions pertaining DE to UI
Hi dearpiriye. A very happy new year to you. Please i just began my service year, with a view to passing out in October. I intend to during the year apply for admission into the MBBS programme at UI. Graduated from Uyo, microbiology second class upper, cgpa 4.05. O Level results B3 in the 5 relevant subjects.. In your opinion, what are the chances of admission like assuming there's transparency in selection

I'll like to frankly address prospectives in the building.
This message is not sent with an intent to dissuade candidates from selecting their choice institutions in the Direct Entry admission process but...
U.I. will not take random students with just any G.P., especially referring to my ND people. Your G.P. would have to be a force to reckon with and then your O'level has to be quite good too. This year, emphasis would be laid on those criteria for ND applicants.
Now, it's good to be hopeful and prayerful but it's even better to be realistic. If you're planning to go ahead with applying for U.I.'s Direct Entry as an Upper Credit ND holder, please apply for HND also. This applies to distinction candidates too, as I know a few of those from my alma mater, FPI, that were not offered admission. Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, as most of us know, is NOT a pushover but still our distinction candidates, of whom I know about 4 of them with G.P. between 3.6 - 3.8, were not picked. So...
The emphasis is on ND wielding candidates;

DO NOT WASTE A YEAR IF YOU'RE NOT ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN ABOUT YOUR ADMISSION. TAKE THE HND FORM AS A BACKUP! PLEASE!

I know some of my ND mates that played the hopeful/prayerful card but ended up being checked out not up! Be realistic, don't put all your eggs in a basket and pray to God to keep it safe when you can put it in 2 different baskets and pray to God to keep both safe!

I wish you all luck with your processing and I hope a good amount of the prospectives in here will be picked. Feel free to ask any question concerning U.I. DE and I'll give you an honest opinion. Bless up!

Okay, thanks... But I have changed my mind and I intend opting for optometry at the University of benin.. Because I'm informed that Uniben only admits ND slt distinction through direct entry to the department of optometry.. Now my question is would lasu accept second choice and is it possible I opt for petrochemical sciences at tasued!!
Capslock01:

Microbiology? Or other SLT inclined courses.

Forget whatsapp. Its too early. No one wants constant broadcast messages all the time. There's nothing wrong with this thread. When you get admission and want to celebrate, post it here and congratulations will be in order. If you want friends, PM! No offense meant and Yes, You're welcome.

Wow FUTA also writes .. Mehn.

Okay thanks man do you have any idea on how the exam is being run?
Larry said futa has stopped writing post de exam due to JAMB new policy but FUTMINNA conducted post de exam last year and I think it was quantitative and verbal.

A friend wrote last year and he said the materials he used in preparing was the same thing he saw in the exam hall. He said like they just lift the questions from the material.

I believe I am in the right section. I'm 22 and a graduate (B.Sc Physiology). I'll be passing out from NYSC by March 2017. So I visited home for Xmas and my dad came up with two wonderful ideas grin. He said once I'm done with service, I'll pick a Direct Entry form for Medicine & Surgery and also an M.Sc form for Physiology. He has promised to sponsor whichever comes my way. So my question here is...which do I go for? Which should I take as a priority assuming I'm offered admission in both disciplines.
MSc in Nigeria or where? How strong is your BSc grade? Maybe we can start from there. Who knows if you can get a fully funded master abroad.

The following is an assumption;
What if the someone with weak upper credit has leg with someone that has leg inside U.I.? You see?
Said person could also be lucky to have chosen a mildly contested course or been offered one.

The criterion for U.I.'s DE is, to an extent, performance; say about 85-90% of her admission is on merits. There's also the preference for A-levels over ND; with the quota for A-levels being about ⅔. So...
Better safe than sorry.

Yes, I know someone but I can't impose on her. I'm sorry.
However, I'm going to provide help in any other way I can to prospects.

Bless up!

Thank you mr larry. OAU is a pretty good school. But from Biz admin to Accountancy, could it be possible?
LARRYDKING:

It isn't possible bro. Unilag admits national diploma candidates into only the faculty of engineering and environmental science. My advice is you ensure you get regularised and try to end it with a distinction.

I was with a 300l student of accounting in OAU today and I asked him how many candidates were admitted along with him through DE and he said close to 100. I would enjoin you to go for OAU, they admit ND candidates a lot.
