TheGoodJoe:Pressing on its own is all about running. How do you calculate distance covered while running? I've cited Dortmond as an example earlier. They cover an average distance of 120km per 90 mins. This like the distance from Lagos to Ibadan. Dortmond aren't known to be a heavy possession side rather they are known to be a hard pressing team. |

Happy that Le prof has begun to open one of his two closed eyes and push Iwobi to the num 10 roll. Anyone that watched the Bournemouth game would see that he began to get active expressing when that Ramsey that loves to be indecisive had to go deep to take Coquelin's role. The other eye of Wenger would open if he sees that he is killing Sanchez's game by placing leg-less Giroud on the pitch as well. I've never see a striker that is as useless as him. Well Make our Iwobi continue to improve..... that's my concern for now..... Finally Arsenal does a "Liverpool comeback" thanks to Chamberlain..... Make Giroud dey feel himself....

TheGoodJoe:Are you saying that it is possible to press more than any other player and yet cover less distance than every other person? As an engineer I find it quite difficult to capture how possible that could be. |

TheGoodJoe:If you're playing in a heavy possession team, distance covered will have to be mostly from keeping possession like Barcelona. In a counter attacking team, distance covered will mostly come from chasing after the ball. |

princesuko: Yes. Iheanacho presses better than Nolito. Nolito outclasses Iheanacho in tracking back. Go and read reviews of how Chelsea neutralised Barcelona in th Champions League in the season Chelsea won the Champions League. Check out Mikel's role before coming back. |

TheGoodJoe: How does Nacho Presses better than Nolito when he doesn't track back, Cover-More Distance Per Game?Got any Links? Very Sure Xavi wasn't Man Marked Or Pressed My Xavi in the 2-2 draw. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 2:13am On Jan 04, 2017 |
princesuko: When pressing is done, most times, it is when the defenders or keeper has the ball. You can also press the midfield but the further up the pitch, it gets risky because of holes. So, the forward players do most of the pressing. It is done in short intervals but high intensity. Iheanacho does this well. So does De Bruyne. Nolito does it well but not as good as this two. Sterling is yet to grab it. Never impressed me doing it and gets tired fast. Nolito on the other hand, tracks back when we lose the ball faster than Iheanacho. You see him coming deep into defence to help. Note, Nolito mostly plays wide and not center forward. So it is ideal for him to track back more and cover more distance. When it comes to putting the opposition under pressure and making it difficult for them to pass, Iheanacho and De Bruyne are better. |

princesuko: Please, Xavi was not man marked by Mikel. I did not say that. I said Mikel pressed Xavi during the game. He made it difficult for Xavi to control his game with the passing. No need arguing. You do not know about it. I will get the link tomorrow. It is late. |

princesuko:In defence, Mikel pressed up field against Barcelona midfielder Xavi, who was eventually unable to pull the strings due to Mikel’s constant harassing. http://backpagefootball.com/the-curious-case-of-john-obi-mikel/59804/ Taken from this chapter. In the contentious second leg of the Barcelona semifinal encounter, on the back of a solid performance in their 1-0 win earlier, Mikel single handedly shut down the Barcelona midfield. For 90 minutes, the Nigerian showed determination, stamina and speed that were once thought to have been nonexistent in his game. In defence, Mikel pressed up field against Barcelona midfielder Xavi, who was eventually unable to pull the strings due to Mikel’s constant harassing. Furthermore, the Nigerian was tireless in double marking Lionel Messi, while breaking down through balls from the Barcelona midfield. In attack, Mikel kept things simple as ever, laying of the ball to midfielders like Ramires and Lampard before man marking Lionel Messi, denying the Argentinian space to ply his skill as a false nine from deeper midfield. Chelsea emerged with a 2-2 draw and winners on aggregate, moving to a much stronger challenge against Bayern Munich. |

IHEANACHO NOT THE SAME PLAYER UNDER GUARDIOLA - OWEN "Iheanacho isn’t the same player he was once," Owen told BT Sport. "His confidence has taken a hit, I think he plays with lot of pressure as he is unsure what could happen next unlike when Pellegrini was in charge. "He is surrounded by players he knows have the trust of the manager unlike during Pellegrini’s reign where he has the trust of the manager and knows it. "He has regressed under Guardiola. He is under pressure." http://m.goal.com/s/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2017/01/03/31117242/iheanacho-not-the-same-player-under-guardiola-owen?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter&utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Ft.co%2F8wedk9Q2zk |

tbaba1234:You must always remember that Iheanacho is a second choice striker to Aguero. You mentioned in your last paragraph that he is not the finished article, which is what I have been saying since last year and almost got my head chopped off for it. Even when Aguero is injured Pep still did not have this high level of confidence on the boy. Pep knows Iheanacho more than even the most fanatic Iheanacho fan here. Pep knows the ability of every single player in the squad. He knows when and when not to play each player. The nature of the opposing defense also plays a part here. When Aguero is injured, he may chose to play De' Bruyne, Nolito or Iheanacho depending on the tactics he wants to adopt to unlock the opposing defense. I am sure you know by now that if Iheanacho plays as CF the best way of stopping him is to cut-off the ball supplies to him. You isolate him from the midfielders. I laugh when I see comments like "Pep purposefully played Navas with Iheanacho so he won't attain his full game level. Why didn't he start Silva with Iheanacho?". Do you think Pep would want to put 3 vital points at stake just bc he is trying disarm Iheanacho? At this critical stage when every win is vital for the title race? Iheanacho should not go on any loan spell in my Opinion. He should stay at City and fight for his place in the starting line-up. That competition would make himbetter. Besides, age is not on Aguero's side any more. This and maybe next season may jst mark his "crescendo". Iheanacho may just have a fantastic future ahead of him at City. |

joseph1013:I always love pundits that are precise in their analysis and u are one of them here on nairaland. My question is this,is success better than Ideye when w talk of national team, club football, experience and injury history. Firstly, national team d two should not be compared.Ideye has made is mark in d national team(afcon 2013)his contributions in that tournament was superb and enormous, though he lost his place in d team but later earned a recalled due to his current form but national team experience nothing can be said of Success. Club football,i know a lot w said Ideye couldn't make it in EPL but forgetting w have a lot of super stars like de Maria,Baloteli, veron,Shevchenko that failed woefully in Premiership.Apart from being flopped at west brom,Ideye has been a good striker in his various club sides. He had a better club goal ratios than success, though injuries did not help success. I don't know why w are clamouring for injury prone striker as d answer to eagles striking position. No doubt Success has d talent,d skill,d strength and pace but goal ratio is not d solution and to make matter worst very prone to injury and no coach w bank on injury prone player.Pls ask Anichebe,if not for injuries that hampered his football career and still hampering it,i w rate him than any other present Eagles strikers but i cannot pick him coz is injury prone. I w never forget what happened during u17 that Awoniyi needs to come in for injured Success and salvaged d situation, success injury nearly ruined our chances at d tournament and till today d guy is still battling with injuries. The question is this do w need to bank on injury prone player and to make d matter worst w are even rating him higher than players who have showed us what they can do in d national team. Iheanacho rise in d national team doesn't gives player like success an automatic shirt in d national team coz in this thread w have been hearing Nwakili,Osimihen,Nwobodo, pls national team are not for kids but super kids like Iheanacho,Iwobi,Ndidi who proved to us they have it all to slug it out with big boys. I remember against Algeria d big boys raised to d occasion to save us namely Mikel,Moses and Musa when he came in A free injury Success should prove himself at Watford first b4 national team. |

Icon4s:So you'd rather have Iheanacho as a second striker at City? crouch was once the first choice striker for England when he was at lowly Portsmouth, Alcacer was the main striker for Spain when he was at lowly Valencia. Iheanacho should move out, even if it means getting out of England. telling me that you want iheanacho to stay as a second striker at City just because you want a Nigerian in a top club is pure BS, no offence. let me ask you a simple question, why did pep bring in Silva with Aguero? why didn't he bring in Aguero alone let's see him work his magic. or why didn't he bring in Silva alone with Iheanacho up top? I am abysmally shocked that you didn't reason that. he brought in Aguero and also provided a provider for him which Iheancho was lacking! do you think I just woke up and typed that? I watched it closely. which you obviously didn't. |

Kog45:exactly! Ha! you see people telling me that Nwakali and Osumihen should.be included in our team, I am left wondering where does Nwakali play exactly? is he better than the ones playing there now?! Ndidi is heads and shoulders above the guy or is he going to displace Mikel? if Mikel steps out we still have a ton of other guys who are better than Nwakali and who are all below 23 who can cover that position in the long term. once they like someone here they get totally biased |

Oasis007:Well i believe this should stop arguments on Iheanacho development at Man city. How i wish Iheanacho continue his development under pellegrini coz a scintillating Iheanacho w be unfolding now but under Guardiola time w tell may be Nacho w be a player we are clamouring for or not It was on this thread i was telling some people that d guys is under unnecessary pressures but they said No.Thank God somebody that played d game to d highest level is attesting to this,it's very glaring if care is not taking Iheanacho w be loaned out at d end of d season. |

Kog45:If I tell you that Success is my favourite player in the U17 2013 set, you may not believe. Personally, I believe he would have scored more goals than Osimhen did if he played fully in UAE. He's very good. BUT he is not reliable. From the little I have gathered about him in Watford, his lifestyle is not the type that will make him be at the optimum. I remember the first picture I saw with him and Ighalo, and I commented that I sincerely hope that Ighalo will influence him to be more of a professional. I think he has become worse. He is overweight and I doubt he cares about diet. I just checked his injury history and contrary to what thought, it wasn't as bad in Granada. From 2014-2016, he missed just 8 games to injury. In just 6 months at Watford, he has missed 13 games (and counting) to injuries. Something is wrong somewhere. I know Walter Mazzari is not an intense trainer, heck I don't know any Watford player that gets injured this way. If he applies himself, he can play for the best of clubs in Europe. But he needs to apply himself, quit spending all that time on snapchat, and get in shape as a footballer. Focus is key for any youngster. Talent means nothing without application. Balotelli is a good example. |

Icon4s: No one said Iheanacho is a finished article. If you remember when I said I would not mind Iheanacho benching and learning from Guardiola. If he was a finished article or people thought he was a finished article, will there be talks of him learning? The point was compared to the likes of Ighalo and Bony, Iheanacho was a better choice. So if it was Bony/Ighalo there, Iheanacho was there. However, the young man has a long way to go. He will keep getting better. |

Rohr Slams Eagles Door On Enyeama – I Called Him Over 10 Times And He Never Responded Nor Call Back Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has given up on trying to convince former goalkepper Vincent Enyeama to come out of retirement and play for Nigeria. Rohr ruled out any future contact with the Lille man after revealing that the 33 year old appears to have made up his mind to stick to his international retirement. The Franco German coach said he tried reaching out at Enyeama when they had a goalkepper crisis before the game against Algeria, but Enyeama failed to take his calls and didn’t return them later. ” When we had crisis in our hands after Carl Ikeme’s injury, I called him (Enyeama) over 10 times and he never responded nor called back”, Rohr said to Owngoalnigeria.com. ” I am happy with how Daniel Akpeyi responded to the test when he was called up as emergency cover, but he needs to buckle up because we can’t solely depend on Ikeme”. http://owngoalnigeria.com/2017/01/04/rohr-slams-eagles-door-on-enyeama-i-called-him-over-10-times-and-he-never-responded-nor-call-back/ |

Mickael2:So you sincerely think at this critical stage in the league title chase that Pep would purposefully put 3 points on the line just in a bid to disarm Iheanacho? He simply did a squad rotation. Silva has been playing in almost all of City's recent games which included the hectic xmas fixtures. Una wan kill Silva? You have a Navas in the team so why not use him against Burnley. Not as if they were to play any of the top 6 teams. As for Iheanacho going on a loan move, me no agree o. He should still compete at City. Not just bc I want Nigerian players in big teams but because I want him to compete with the best. That would bring out the best in him. |

Nigeria Coach Optimistic ADO Den Haag Talent Ebuehi Will Debut Against Senegal Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is optimistic that ADO Den Haag defender Tyronne Ebuehi will accept his invitation to the national team for the international friendly against Senegal in March. Barely two months ago, the German manager could not persuade Ebuehi to make his international debut versus Algeria in a World Cup qualifier, with the right-back citing the need to first establish himself in the first team of his club. “In the right-back position, I have met with Tyrone Ebuehi, a very good player. I invited him the last time but he only just started to play for ADO Den Haag. But now, he is playing regularly, ” Rohr told reporters. “I have spoken with his parents and they are in support. The manager and agent are okay with everything.” The former Bayern Munich defender added : “So Tyrone will be there in March for our next game. So we will have a new right-back or even left-back because he can play in both positions. “He is big, he is quick and grew up in Amsterdam. We will see his integration into the team which will not be easy.” Since the World Cup qualifier against Algeria, Ebuehi has started every single game for his club in the Eredivisie. http://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=21601
