Hello House,

I need your help. I intend to apply to the following schools for Fall 2017.

Tennessee Tech University
North Carolina A&T
University of Wyoming

I intend to go for MS Environmental Engineering or Chemical Engineering with a specialization in Environmental Engineering

Tuition and assistantships are major considerations for me. I got an admit for Spring at MTU but the tuition is almost 10k per semester with no assistantship so I couldn't go.

I am looking for schools with less than 8k/term and that are also generous with funding/assistantships. Im also not looking at schools that will ask me to pay for WES evaluation as I don't have the money.

I have a 149Q 151V 4.0 AWA in GRE
I have 9.0 R, 8.0 S, 7.5 W, 7.5 L and overall of 8.0 in IELTS
I finished with 3.28/5 in UG Chemical Engineering.

I appreciate your help. Thanks.

You've got good stats. Moving forward, I suggest you work your way backwards, try to get an assistantship first. The money will definitely come with the admit. To get funding, you'd need to build rapport with profs you'd like to work with, based on similar research interests. If any of them feels like your work ethic is great or you're smart enough to handle things in their program, they'd go considerable lengths to get you the admission + money.

Is it possible? Yes. Is it easy? Nope. Hard, but not impossible. I wish you the best.

Cheers!

Too late, boss. You should seriously consider shifting to a later date. 2-3 months of consistent prep is the rule, not the exception for the GRE. Still, you can check the first post on this thread for what you'll need >> https://www.nairaland.com/1832477/how-achieve-high-scores-gre

Thank you so much. I never even thought I could work backwards. I just felt admission has to come before assistantship. I'm not expecting it to be easy. I just needed to be sure that I am doing the right thing. Thank you for this. I will get right on it. i appreciate your help once again.

Any Network Engineer in the house with ASA experience and willing to work in the Dallas Area should reach out to me. Unfortunately, the company is not willing to file for anybody. So you must have at least work permit through family.

Really when did they open it to Nigerians to use credit or debit card ?......except if that change occurred today

The Known SEVIS process is that Nigerians pay ONLY with any of these 3 methods 1. money order, 2. Western Union Quick Pay or 3.certified check drawn from a U.S. bank ........

Someone in US has to do it for you cos it can't be paid in Nigeria. So the fastest way is through Western Union. You'll fill a coupon online at fmjfee. Then send the person your coupon number. He/she would have to walk to a western union outlets to help you make the payment. Instructions on how to fill the form is on their website. Fmjfee type it on google
It can be done in less than 5 mins online

Good work! First off, I urge to consider quit writing like this, it doesn't much add up to your ambitions as a decent grad student. You must have been pretty motivated during your UG days, for the Prof to think you're really good without the GRE. He might be seriously considering you for a Teaching Assistantship position, hence the TOEFL. To that end, you'd need to score particularly high on your Speaking section, while not losing grips in the other sections.

I think the cheapest you'll get is with B Y Mafit Nig. for 50k. Google them, you'll see how to register. Do your due diligence though, as I've only read their reviews, not actually registered through them.

Cheers!

Open to Nigeria? Fmjfee Web is the same everywhere.
I know quite sure that when the sevis I-901 form is submitted online, the only payment option u would is "pay by check or money order ". The way I did mine was that, I first of all submitted the form online, I couldn't find "pay by credit or debit card" option. And I had to email the fmjfee people, provide them with some of important information in my coupon including sevis Id, control number etc and also what the issue was. Within like an hour, I filled the form again and submitted, immediately the " pay by credit or debit card " option popped up, and I utilized it instantly. In less than 3 mins, I had fmjfee receipt in my folder.

But u can keep on nagging, all I know that I did mine online, when some folks here were crossing border like cotonou to get their fees paid.

There are quite a few IT jobs in the DFW area. If you school in the area, that gives you a little advantage since some companies try to source locally. Aside from LinkedIn which you probably already know, you'll find some guys you take classes with that have done some form of internship with some of those companies. Your international office too would know what IT companies in the area international students usually do internships and OPT in, and of course those most likely sponsor H1B and GC. So just connect with people and talk to people in your international office as well....at least that's how I and a few friends got internships in companies that sponsor then.

I am at Tennessee Tech, the truth is my school lost a lot of funding this last semester. As a result of this, my department only admitted a student for spring. Even elect that used to have crazy funding didn't offer any new student assistantship. I don't know if the situation of things would be better next fall but that's the situation of things on ground now. All the best

Regards to everyone that come by this, your effort to help, orientate, encourage Everyone that follow this thread worth saying God will immeasurably bless you, just as I have observe that anyone posting for the first time on this thread will add this phrase " I have silently follow this thread " am not left out, but as the wise one like we have on this platform Will say " you don't keep the hand that hurt undercloth" via your information I have successfully Taken the Tofel test though the school I applied to (university of Maine and other 2) waive it,i have file in my Application fee and other required documents except Except my post secondary transcript.

This is the challenge : I included African maritime academy(private school in oyo state) in my Umaine online app, I have the transcript but of course The procedure requires that The transcript should be sent directly by the school attended , I contacted the school at oyo but was told that the new policy For transcript to be sent is to provide all evidence of payment Throughout the 2years program (2010-2012) which I can't provide one because I Didn't document the bankdraft.

What is the implications of Mailing Umaine explaining the constraints of the school(african maritime academy) not Able to send My transcript?

Erudite's what's your Advice please?.

Last bullet :if this or something similar have be addressed previously, I will be so glad if am referred to the page, mind you have made use of the search botton before asking wink
