Indirectly Rohr is saying you have to prove yourself in your club before I consider you. Playing Ndidi instead of Musa was not due to experience but fear of musa being match rusty, they was no info in camp that told us Musa performed better than Ndidi in training
You are correct. As at the period of camp, there was no such news. Rohr said he was concerned Musa's rustiness might bite him if he played.

Musa would have tackle kalaba in 18yard box and concede a pk. The coach decision is Final and from his view Ndidi would performed better than Musa

Might bite? It sure bit Ndidi.

How did it bite? Did we win or did we not? Can you confidently say we would not have regretted if Musa played?

I can Confidently say Musa Mohammed would not play as bad as Ndidi when it came to playing the wing back role that day.

Saying we won deviates from the point. This is about Individual performance, not we won.

Rohr is saying that if Musa Mohammed was playing regularly for a club, he would play for the team. Hence his club chose to drop him, we will look for someone. Meaning someone who he believes Musa Mohammed is better than.

I do not get why drop a better talent. Now we want Musa Mohammed to look for a club when we had the chance to expose him and show clubs that he is a good player.

Nonsense...Rohr was in camp assessing the two players and he won the game away. He chose the player that contributed to the victory. No one knows what would happen ahead of time, so the talk that Musa would have played to instruction and outperformed Ndidi is rubbish talk. We won and Ndidi did his best.

Musa bombs forward, Ndidi does not. Ndidi is very solid in aerial duels (one of his very strong points according to the Man Utd scout) and in the later stages, he joined the centerbacks to keep out aerial balls. Musa Mohammed is not good in the air.

You can long matter...me I don't have time.

The Super Eagles is not a rehabilitation center. You cannot ask Nigeria to play players solely because you want clubs to buy them. Is that the way top football countries behave? Why didn't Italy continue calling Balotelli so that other clubs can buy him? Rohr is even helping him by talking to people and looking for a club for him. Is that not good enough?

Even if Musa gets a club, he does not have an automatic shirt. Other players will be invited and all of them will compete in camp. This one no be anyhow team again o.

If there is a better option, I do not have a problem in dropping Musa Mohammed. He looked good under Salisu Yusuf. He was playing well. We wondered how he was not playing. Then we did the same thing the Turkish club did. Drop him. Worst of all, we did not have a better option.

Playing time would have made hunting for a good club for him easier. Now we are left with him looking for a club without game time for club or country. We missed a trick there.

I am not asking for an automatic shirt for Musa Mohammed but echoing the words of Rohr. He made it clear in the article that Musa Mohammed was hi choice. He chose to drop him for Ndidi who was clearly not suited for the role.

There is no need saying nonsense and rubbish. You yourself admitted Ndidi was awful that day. So there is no need using vicious words to deviate from the truth.

Ndidi was awful as a right back that day and I have no doubt in my mind Musa Mohammed would have done better.

I was even the first to point out Ndidi's aerial contributions when I did a review of the game. So no need educating me in what I know.

I said, poor as a right back. Not Drifting to defence to support.

Rohr is hunting for a right back, not central defence support.

I agree with the bolded. Apologies. You sef dey talk some things atimes ehn...Anyway, that's still not an excuse to be rude.

Okay...so you agreed that Ndidi contributed very well in the aerial duels. Good. Would Musa have been able to do that? No. And it could have cost us.

As regarding the Right back position, Rohr said Musa was rusty due to his lack of games. Even Mikel that just finished the Olympics playing all our games was removed around the hour mark because he was exhausted owing to his lack of games at Chelsea. Yet you say you are confident Musa who had being relegated to the 4th choice at his club would have done better. Are you a dibia? Rohr was in camp observing all his players. Remember that Musa played the training games in camp, Rohr must have seen something that made him uncomfortable during the training sessions(he's never hidden the fact that he likes Musa). He was just being pragmatic.

He choose his players based on fitness and from the position of strategy and tactics for the difficult away match in tough Zambia. Yet you are telling us you are confident Musa would have done better. I ask again: You be dibia?

Ola Aina is a right back for Chelsea admittedly he has only played a few games for the first team.

But then getting into a Chelsea team for a youth player has been far from easy. He has played at every youth level for England.

Compared to the options being considered Ola should be in consideration.

Why I do not buy the fitness talk is because we have seen Musa Mohammed who was not playing games at his club play for us. His stamina and runs were impressive. There was no negative review of his games with us.

So to tell me overnight he lost his fitness does not add up. In clubs, players can go for months without playing and an injury gives the player an opportunity. He starts and performs amazingly well.

It still points to the Alampasu's case where he did not get the nod because of the experience factor. It is a cycle I am pointing out. Not an isolated incident.

Saying Mikel was tired after ninety minutes does not add because Iwobi looked even more tired despite regular playing time.

Maybe we should not consider him because he is not a starter. That is my problem let is seek the best. If Ola Aina can deliver, he should get his chance. Not looking for one kid in Russia playing regularly, even if he is not unpar with those who are not getting regular time.

The bolded is what I have been personally arguing against on this thread. Some are already reserving a shirt in the super eagles for him in this 2017.

The U17 performances by these players is so much hyped here. I have always cited cases where MVPs and Highest goals scorers of the FIFA U17 end up as flops.

Osimhen is a talented young player no doubt but how he would channel that talent when he starts playing professional football is what I dnt know.

Any thing can happen. But let us see Osimhen play professional football first. What has even become of Taiwo Awoniyi that over a year ago peeps here said he deserved a place in the Liverpool line up. What of Musa Yahaya?
Well said.
Osimhen as promising a talent as he is, should concentrate on developing at wolfsburg for now. Its uncalled for reserving a shirt for a lad who haven't played a minute of professional football. Not when we have players who are better equipped and experienced with talent to match.
If the camp was thrown open, it would take an insane coach to choose Osimhen ahead of Egbuchulam.

By this time last year, Etebo was still at Warri Wolves. Those of us who saw him play knew we had a phenomenal player on our hands.
Egbuchulam so far have achieved even more than Etebo in the Npfl. Winning Nigerian footballer of year in a country that hates her league, a country that would rather hand a call up to a player in Syberia tells the whole story.

It's a travesty for anyone to place Osimhen ahead of Chisom at the moment.

No no no Obinna is more their Messi. Their best moments always had his stamp. He scored some of the best goals last year.
For all the job Nwobodo and Madu do in midfield, chisom brings the cutting edge.
At the Super 4, Obinna wasn't part of the tournament due to injury, yet we saw Chisom at his best in the game that he played.
Scoring 2 world class goals that dispatched Rivers Utd.
The second goal was Thierry Henristic.

Obinna obviously gets more media attention because of his exploits with the U 20,while Chisom flew under the radar.
However, he was dully recognised and crowed Nigerian player of the year in December.

I think the Nigerian media needs to do a lot of work in this regards.

Undue attention is given to foreign players at the expense of the much abundant talents we have at home.

Gernot Rohr to respect Mikel Obi’s decision

The Super Eagles handler stated his preference for his skipper to remain in a top level league but insists a move far Asia will not hinder his Super Eagles chances
Nigeriacoach, Gernot Rohr has said that although he prefers Chelsea’s John Obi Mikelto continue plying his trade in Europe, a reverse move to the lucrative Chinese Super League will also be ‘respected’.

The 29-year-old has been on the periphery of Antonio Conte's Blues and with his contract expiring at the end of the season, European teams such as Valencia, Inter and Marseille are battling for his signature.

Also, there are, reportedly, interests from big money spending China sides and the German tactician, who started the Olympic Bronze medallist in all his three matches despite his situation at Chelsea, stated that if he decides to move to Asia, and he becomes active, he will remain in his plans.

“I prefer Mikel stays in Europe and play in an European team,” Rohr told media.

“When I was in London two weeks ago, we spoke about that. But Mikel is an experienced and intelligent player and he knows what to do.

“If he decides to choose the money of China, then we must respect that.

“If he goes to China and is playing well, he will come (to the Super Eagles).”

What are your thoughts on his move to North Africa?
I have nothing against a Nigerian player using North Africa as a launch pad to Europe.
Amuneke and Utaka started out in Egypt before hitting Europe.

However, Chisom's case is different. Different in the sense that he is close to hitting his plateau.
Utaka left to Egypt from an amateur side Unth hillers, while Chisom piloted Rangers to win the league.
Winning accolades like the best player in the Npfl and Nigerian footballer of the year and getting a merited call up for a world cup qualifier.

In my opinion, Chisom just like Etebo doesn't need much coaching at a European club to hit it big. He has already completed a cycle of development in Nigeria.
Europe should be his destination.

CAF snub Super Eagles stars in Africa XI for 2016

by Samm Audu

Nigeria Super Eagles stars have failed to make the Africa XI for 2016 named by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Arsenal youngster Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho from Manchester City could only be named on the substitutes' bench.

The top three nominees for the prestigious CAF African Footballer of the Year for 2016 – Riyad Mahrez, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Sadio Mane – are on the starting line-up.

CAF recognised Mamelodi Sundowns top stars Denis Onyango, Khama Billiat and Keegan Dolly as they won an historic CAF Champions League last year to be included on this Dream Team.

The CAF African XI for 2016
Goalkeeper: Denis Onyango (Uganda & Mamelodi Sundowns)

Defenders: Serge Aurier (Cote d’Ivoire & PSG), Aymen Abdenour (Tunisia & Valencia), Eric Bailly (Cote d’Ivoire & Manchester United), Joyce Lomalisa (DRC & AS Vita)

Midfielders: Khama Billiat (Zimbabwe & Mamelodi Sundowns), Rainford Kalaba (Zambia & TP Mazembe), Keegan Dolly (South Africa & Mamelodi Sundowns)

Forwards: Fierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Gabon & Borussia Dortmund), Sadio Mane (Senegal & Liverpool), Riyad Mahrez (Algeria & Leicester City)

Subs:

Ndidi completes Leicester move, gets jersey no. 25

Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi has joined fellow countryman, Ahmed Musa at Leicester City, the club confirmed on Tuesday after reaching agreement with KRC Genk for his permanent transfer, SR Sports reports.

Ndidi is expected to sign five-and-a-half-year deal upon granting of work permit. The 20-year-old midfielder has agreed personal terms, undergone a medical and will sign a contract to June 2022 once a work permit has officially been granted. He will wear City’s no.25 shirt.

The Foxes beat off considerable competition to secure Ndidi’s signature – the tall, combative central midfielder having won a host of admirers across Europe for his performances both in the Belgian Pro League and in the UEFA Europa League, where he helped Genk progress to this season’s knockout stages as Group F winners.

Wilfred makes the move to the Premier League after two years in Belgian football, having joined Genk on his 18th birthday following a successful trial with the club’s academy. Originally spotted playing for Nathaniel Boys in an open trial in the Nigerian city of Lagos, he started out as a central defender, before adapting superbly to a defensive midfield role.

At international level, Ndidi represented Nigeria at Under-17 and Under-20 level, before earning his first senior call-up in October 2015. He has played twice alongside City forward Ahmed Musa for the Super Eagles this season, including an appearance against an Algeria team containing Riyad Mahrez and Islam Slimani.

Ndidi is expected to complete the formalities of his move to Leicester City later this week. The Nigerian midfielder helped Genk reach the UEFA Europa League knockout stages.

Rohr scouts new German-born defender for Super Eagles

Super EaglesTechnical Adviser, Genort Rohris not resting on his oars in finding capable legs to feel the noticeable voids in the Nigeria National team.

Speaking with journalists in Lagos on Tuesday, the Franco-German soccer tactician said he has been able to scout for a German-born defender that could help further toughen the back-line of the Super Eagles which many suggest is the weakest link at the moment.

Using the Leon Balogun success story, Rohr is positive that his planned addition to the Super Eagles will be good for the team in the long run.

"Aside from Tyrone, we have found a player in Germany who was playing in the Bundesliga last year but has gone down on relegation. Rohr stated.

He continued: "He is 20 years old. He told me it's an honour for him to come to play for the country of his father, his mother is German.

He is like Balogun, very quick and very good. Hopefully he will come too.

"So now, we have the time to see them play in their clubs, speak and meet with them, bring them in a good condition in order to help us for the qualification.

It is expected that the bulk of players that would execute the proposed March friendly against Senegal will be the new faces that Rohr is trying to integrate into the national team.

TheGoodJoe:
I did not say the coach should call up every player but study the players and select those he feels can contribute to the team.

As for Musa Mohammed, I think Rohr made an error when he opted for Ndidi as a right back over Musa Mohammed. Ndidi was not good holding the winger of the Zambians and there was no way Musa Mohammed would not have done better.

That is why the experience or game time factor distorts judgment.

Just like Rohr opting for Akpeyi over Alampasu despite Alampasu performing better in training.

At the end Akpeyi was shaky like an amateur. Select form over experience.
How are you sure Alampasu would not have shaken like a leave being blown by the wind if he manned that post?

You think goal keeping is only about diving and catching balls?

Do you think Alampasu have the charisma or what it takes to organize that Super Eagles defense in a game of that magnitude?

You planned to field a debutant in a game of that magnitude? Good Lord! shocked

Rohr's philosophies are clear. You need to start playing games for your club before he can consider you for any position in the team.

U think U17 exploits are enough?

Let us see Victor Osimhen play and develop as a professional first.

There is no parking space in the English Premier League top four spot, but Arsenal striker Alex Iwobiis hoping that high flying Chelsea drop some points as they play Tottenham tonight. Chelsea are closing in on Arsenal’s 14-match record of Premier League wins after their stunning run of 13 victories since the start of September.

And Iwobi insists the Gunners are confident of keeping the pressure on Chelsea in the hope Antonio Conte’s side slip up before the end of the season.

“Hopefully if Chelsea slip up, they slip up but we have to make sure we win to keep up the title race,” said Iwobi, who scored in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Crystal Palace last time out.

“The games are coming thick and fast; we just have to prepare the same.

“We have got the momentum, we are confident now and hopefully we can keep up our winning streak.

“I’m just trying to do the best I can. If the team does well that is the main thing.”
