Indirectly Rohr is saying you have to prove yourself in your club before I consider you. Playing Ndidi instead of Musa was not due to experience but fear of musa being match rusty, they was no info in camp that told us Musa performed better than Ndidi in training
God Bless you.

Iwobi hopes Chelsea slip up

There is no parking space in the English Premier League top four spot, but Arsenal striker Alex Iwobiis hoping that high flying Chelsea drop some points as they play Tottenham tonight. Chelsea are closing in on Arsenal’s 14-match record of Premier League wins after their stunning run of 13 victories since the start of September.

And Iwobi insists the Gunners are confident of keeping the pressure on Chelsea in the hope Antonio Conte’s side slip up before the end of the season.

“Hopefully if Chelsea slip up, they slip up but we have to make sure we win to keep up the title race,” said Iwobi, who scored in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Crystal Palace last time out.

“The games are coming thick and fast; we just have to prepare the same.

“We have got the momentum, we are confident now and hopefully we can keep up our winning streak.

“I’m just trying to do the best I can. If the team does well that is the main thing.”

How are you sure Alampasu would not have shaken like a leave being blown by the wind if he manned that post?

You think goal keeping is only about diving and catching balls?

Do you think Alampasu have the charisma or what it takes to organize that Super Eagles defense in a game of that magnitude?

You planned to field a debutant in a game of that magnitude? Good Lord! shocked

Rohr's philosophies are clear. You need to start playing games for your club before he can consider you for any position in the team.

U think U17 exploits are enough?

Let us see Victor Osimhen play and develop as a professional first.

I wonder if you saw Charisma in Akpeyi. As I said, what is the use of the Experience if he can not do it in training. If Akpeyi could not do it in training, how could he do it in the main match.

He was shaky all through the game and Rohr even stated he needs to buckle up.

I did not say U17 exploits is enough. I did not even talk about it. I said invite him to camp and let him fight for his place

Agent Coy On Rumours Linking Porto Defender Awaziem With Loan Move To Besiktas

https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/image-10.jpg
The agent of FC Porto Nigerian defender Chidozie Awaziem has refused to confirm or deny reports linking the defender with a loan move to Turkish champions Besiktas.

Owngoalnigeria.com sources in Turkey are of the opinion that the 20 year old defender is close to agreeing a loan move, but his agent stayed coy when asked about the reported interest in his client.

” He is very happy at FC Porto, he is their player and I don’t know if he is going to remain at the club, last time I checked he is very happy at Porto”, Babawo told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” If you want to know if Besiktas are interested in him, FC Porto are the right people to ask, he is their player, am just his agent”.

Last season Awaziem made 12 appearances for the first team of FC Porto, but this season he has found games hard to come by for the first team but he has been ever present for the B team, who are campaigning in the second division.

Chelsea Coach Conte Shy Away From Mikel To Valencia Rumours

https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/image-56.jpg
Coach of Chelsea Antonio Conte has reacted to news linking out of favour midfielder John Obi Mikel with a move to La-Liga side Valencia.

Valencia confirmed that talks are underway with the 29 year old captain of the Nigeria national team, but sources close to the former Lyn Oslo man insist that a four year deal has been agreed for him to join Valencia.

Conte was asked during his press conference ahead of their tie against Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow about the situation of Mikel’s rumoured move after ten years at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian manager gave a response which many feels isn’t quite the true picture of things, as he denied contact with the La-Liga side despite Valencia claims of speaking to Mikel after Chelsea granted them permission.

” For now there is no news about the future of John Mikel Obi”, he said.

I can not know better than Rohr. He coached a young Zidane, Dugarry and Lizarazu. I honestly believe going with the better choice is better tha the experience choice because repeatedly, there is clearly no difference in the options.

Look at Dunga at 2010 World Cup, where he chose to drop the best South American player, Neymar. At that time, Robinho was at Santos with Neymar and was clearly better. Neymar even scored more than him. Dunga called his experience Robinho. Left the best talent and it was not a good outing.

I have no doubt Neymar would have brought more spark to Brazil. Look at Loew who has shown faith over time to his young talents. For instance carrying a young Ozil with little international experience to the World Cup and he shone brightly.

CAF snub Super Eagles stars in Africa XI for 2016

by Samm Audu

Nigeria Super Eagles stars have failed to make the Africa XI for 2016 named by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Arsenal youngster Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho from Manchester City could only be named on the substitutes' bench.

The top three nominees for the prestigious CAF African Footballer of the Year for 2016 – Riyad Mahrez, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Sadio Mane – are on the starting line-up.

CAF recognised Mamelodi Sundowns top stars Denis Onyango, Khama Billiat and Keegan Dolly as they won an historic CAF Champions League last year to be included on this Dream Team.

The CAF African XI for 2016
Goalkeeper: Denis Onyango (Uganda & Mamelodi Sundowns)

Defenders: Serge Aurier (Cote d’Ivoire & PSG), Aymen Abdenour (Tunisia & Valencia), Eric Bailly (Cote d’Ivoire & Manchester United), Joyce Lomalisa (DRC & AS Vita)

Midfielders: Khama Billiat (Zimbabwe & Mamelodi Sundowns), Rainford Kalaba (Zambia & TP Mazembe), Keegan Dolly (South Africa & Mamelodi Sundowns)

Forwards: Fierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Gabon & Borussia Dortmund), Sadio Mane (Senegal & Liverpool), Riyad Mahrez (Algeria & Leicester City)

Subs:

Reminder – Germany Journalist Claims Rohr Has Held Talks With Talented German Nigeria Noah Joel Sarenren-Bazee

https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/image-126.jpg
German journalist Roland Mark has dropped a big hint regarding the chances of Nigeria snaring talented German born midfielder Noah-Joel Sarenren-Bazee to play for the Super Eagles.

” I can confirm that contact has been made between coach of the Nigerian team Gernot Rohr and Noah-Joel. Sometimes around last week I was told”, he told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” His switch won’t pose much of a problem, because he is yet to be capped by Germany at any level. He is highly rated and very exciting, it will be a big lose to Germany, if he gets to play for Nigeria”.

Sarenren-Bazee is widely regarded as one of the finest talents in Germany at the moments, where he currently plays for 2. Bundesliga side Hannover 96.

The 20 year old is born to Nigerian parents in Germany, his father originally hails from South South Nigeria, Bayelsa State precisely, while his mother is German.

Thierry Henry Gives Reasons Why Iwobi Should Continue In Number 10 Role Ahead Of Ozil

https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/image-2-1024x570.jpg
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has given his backing to Alex Iwobi to continue in the number 10 role for Arsenal ahead of regular man Mesut Ozil.

Henry while praising the contribution of the 20 year old Nigerian in the game against Crystal Palace, where he played in the midfield says Iwobi suits the team better than Ozil when it comes to playing teams with a defensive set up.

The Gunners legend who handled the Nigeria during his brief stint as coach of the Arsenal youth team, urged manager Arsene Wenger to keep Iwobi in the midfield instead of shifting him to the flanks once Ozil is available.

” Iwobi is better off in the middle for Arsenal when they come up against teams who are defensively minded like we saw against Crystal Palace”, Henry said on TV.

” Wenger must have seen it, and hopefully he will be picked ahead of Ozil in such games. He moves the ball quicker and faster leaving opposition defenders in their wake. He belongs to the middle”.

Austria Wien Confirms Talks With Unnamed English Team Over Stoke City Target Olarenwaju Kayode

https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/image-4.jpg
The Sporting Director of Austrian side Austria Wien has confirmed that they are in talks with teams in England and Turkey who are interested in Nigerian forward Olarenwaju Kayode.

Austria Wien are reportedly willing to see him move abroad than join local rival Austria Vienna, who are also interested in the forward and his teammate Tarkan Serbest.

Kayode is a reported target of English Premier League side Stoke City, but Austria Wien’s director Franz Wohlfahrt refused to name the teams in England and Turkey interested in the 23 year old.

” We have had inquiries from teams in England and Turkey for Olarenwaju Kayode. But so far no offer has met our expectations. I do not believe a move will happen soon”, he said.

The former Nigeria youth international has been in fine form in front of goal for the Europa League campaigners with 14 goals to his name this season in all competitions.

He is contracted to Austria Wien till the summer of 2019, and he is valued at 2 millon euros by the club he joined from Israeli side Maccabi Netanya 18 months ago.

Alampasu, Iwobi, Iheanacho Lead Top Performers In Super Eagles Training

Owngoalnigeria.com witnessed the open door session and we picked five players who were very impressive for the two hours the training session under the watchful eyes of coach Gernot Rohr lasted.

Dele Alampasu: Brave, confident and commanding, the 2013 Korea U-17 World Cup winning goalkeeper, who was rated the best at the tournament showed why he is so highly rated. His cat like reflexes was one of the highpoint of the evening session. He was simply outstanding.

Alex Iwobi: The Arsenal forward oozed class anytime he touches the ball, he was very lively and used the ball at his feet to good effect. He connected well with other players on the pitch and clearly left coach Gernot Rohr impressed.

Kelechi Iheanacho: His link up play with Iwobi was extraordinary, the pair were at ease finding each other with passes and amazingly even in tight situations. A combination that could wreck the Algerians if carried into the match day.

Mikel Obi: The captain looked fitter than ever, didn’t show any sign of a player who is yet to play a competitive game this season for his club. Obi was lively, full of running and incisive with his passes. A sign of how well he has managed his lack of game time at Chelsea.

Moses Simon: Diminutive, daring and full of dribbles. The Gent man was clearly head and shoulders above the defenders who tried to stop him. His movement off the ball was also top class and bar a poor finish, he could have scored a wonderful goal.

Spurs Boss – Stopping Victor Moses Is Key To Beating Chelsea Tonight

https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/image-5.jpg
Coach of Tottenham Hotspur Mauricio Pochettino says stopping Chelsea flying wingback Victor Moses is key to his side securing all three points when they take on the Blues later this evening.

The Nigerian has been key to Chelsea’s 13 match winning streak playing wonderfully well as a wingback in their 3-4-3 formation, that has helped them stay top of the Premier League.

Moses as a matter of fact scored the winner for Chelsea in the reverse tie which they won 2-1 at Stamford Bridge in November, and Pochettino is keen on stopping him from wrecking havoc today.

Pochettino pointed out that stopping Chelsea wingback duo of Moses and Mikel Alonso will stop them from giving Pedro and Eden Hazard the chance to break free upfront.

“Moses and Alonso are fundamental because, with their running, they allow Pedro and [Eden] Hazard to take breaks now and again. They are key players for Chelsea’s game and hatching that plan also shows how good Conte is,” Pochettino told the official Tottenham website ahead.

No.9 or No.10, I Cannot Say – Rohr Refuses To Confirm Man City Iheanacho Best Position

https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/image-106.jpg
Manchester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho favourite position in the Super Eagles of Nigeria is not certain as a top striker according to coach of the team Gernot Rohr.

Rohr while speaking in Lagos was asked about the favourite role of the Manchester City star who lead the line for the team against Algeria, in their last World Cup 2018 game which they won 3-1.

Talks have been about Iheanacho playing in the number 10 position for the team, but the coach says there’s still time between now and when Nigeria regroups for their next assignment to take a decision on his best role.

“It’s still a long time before our next qualifier. A lot of things would have happened. I cannot say who will be our No.9 or No.10.

We have our two number nines, Odion Ighalo and Brown Ideye. Of course we have Kelechi who had a good game against Algeria”‘

“Also Victor Osimhen is having a good beginning at Wolfsburg. I spoke with Wolfsburg manager and he said Victor is doing very well. And who says Victor who will be playing in the Bundesliga cannot come and play as our number nine? We don’t know what the team will be like in the coming months.”

Fantastic post. Very enlightening. However, I am more interested in how to break down Conte's defensive set up than the offensive. Conte kept a fine defensive record during the record breaking run.

I clearly stated my point. Rohr believes in Victor Osimhen's ability. Not me. Rohr. I said if he believes the young man can help the team, he should invite him and let the young man compete with the other strikers.

I do not want past glory being reasons for selections. I think I have pointed this out for a long time now.

Bring the players to camp. Drill and select the best in each role. Not U17 or Club history.

Current form over history.

The match experience clearly did not help Akpeyi in training . LOLS.
Are trainings the main games?

You should ask whether the match experience helped him on the match day or not.

See there are some things you need to know about players selection. I have encouraged you to probably go for a little coaching course for you to understand some more things. That still gives you more edge as an analyst.

I told you even before the camp opened that there was no way Rohr would start Alampasu ahead of Akpeyi no matter what happened in camp.
Rohr already had 90% of his starting 11 in mind even before the squad list came out. That is what a right thinking coach does.

Captain of the senior Nigeria team Mikel Obi has issued a deadline to Spanish La-Liga side Valencia to complete all the grey areas in his proposed move to the team from Chelsea.

Mikel has already agreed a deal in principle to join the La-Liga side on a five year deal as exclusively reported by Owngoalnigeria.com, but there are issues concerning his wages, particularly the issue of who pays his severance package between Chelsea and Valencia.

The ultimatum was handed to the La-Liga side by his representative yesterday, after news emerged that the Spanish side are not willing to pay him as demanded by his representatives.

A deadline of Friday has been set for the deal to be done else the 29 year old has made it clear he will move to China, where he has reportedly agree a three year contract with Tianjin Teda.

Tianjin Teda are reportedly willing to pay the Nigerian an annual wage of around €8-9m per season.

By screening them in camp through comprehensive drills and games. Then selecting the best for the game.
I am talking about invitation to the squad. Or is it after inviting them to camp that you know their forms?

How do you know a player is in form before inviting him to camp?
