Are trainings the main games?

You should ask whether the match experience helped him on the match day or not.

See there are some things you need to know about players selection. I have encouraged you to probably go for a little coaching course for you to understand some more things. That still gives you more edge as an analyst.

I told you even before the camp opened that there was no way Rohr would start Alampasu ahead of Akpeyi no matter what happened in camp.
Rohr already had 90% of his starting 11 in mind even before the squad list came out. That is what a right thinking coach does.

The main game is in front. The preparation to select the best for each role is in camp. This is not the first time coaches opt for history over current form. However, repeatedly we have seen it not work. Akpeyi was a clear example. He was shaky and no way solid. Liked his footworks though.

I pointed Bony's case at City. Oliseh did the same leaving Iheanacho out of the squad for so long. Hoddle did the same in France 98. Dunga dropped a top performing Neymar for 2010 World Cup. At the end, when looking back, the so called experience factor did not help.

Remember Peter Rufai in France 98. Where was the help from his experience?

Alampasu, Iwobi, Iheanacho Lead Top Performers In Super Eagles Training

Owngoalnigeria.com witnessed the open door session and we picked five players who were very impressive for the two hours the training session under the watchful eyes of coach Gernot Rohr lasted.

Dele Alampasu: Brave, confident and commanding, the 2013 Korea U-17 World Cup winning goalkeeper, who was rated the best at the tournament showed why he is so highly rated. His cat like reflexes was one of the highpoint of the evening session. He was simply outstanding.

Alex Iwobi: The Arsenal forward oozed class anytime he touches the ball, he was very lively and used the ball at his feet to good effect. He connected well with other players on the pitch and clearly left coach Gernot Rohr impressed.

Kelechi Iheanacho: His link up play with Iwobi was extraordinary, the pair were at ease finding each other with passes and amazingly even in tight situations. A combination that could wreck the Algerians if carried into the match day.

Mikel Obi: The captain looked fitter than ever, didn’t show any sign of a player who is yet to play a competitive game this season for his club. Obi was lively, full of running and incisive with his passes. A sign of how well he has managed his lack of game time at Chelsea.

Moses Simon: Diminutive, daring and full of dribbles. The Gent man was clearly head and shoulders above the defenders who tried to stop him. His movement off the ball was also top class and bar a poor finish, he could have scored a wonderful goal.

So, why do you think Rohr dropped Alampasu to the bench after his "brave, confident and commanding" exploits in camp?

I am talking about invitation to the squad. Or is it after inviting them to camp that you know their forms?

How do you know a player is in form before inviting him to camp?

I did not pick or point out Osimhen. Rohr did. I did not point Alampasu Rohr did. I did not point out Musa Mohammed. Rohr did.

I am talking of after he makes his selection of those who will come to camp, he should select the best performers in each role for the starting line-up.

That is what I am saying. I am saying next time we should go for the best in camp because the so called experience that gave Akpeyi the starting Jersey did not help. He was weak and shaky.

We are talking about a goal keeper's position. Forget Bony.

If you feel Akpeyi was shaky then you should expect Alampasu to freeze to the ground. I am sure you know the magnitude of the importance of that game. You as a fan watching the game, were you not tensed up.

Selecting a goal keeper for a game is far far different from selecting a striker for a game.

Fact: if and when Mikel Obi moves to China, he is going to be a very, very, VERY rich man.

Chinese side Tianjin Teda are reportedly the team leading the race for his signature as his move away from Chelsea draws close after 10 years at the club.

Owngoalnigeria.com brings to you his proposed earning in Nigerian Naira as reported in international currency by the foreign media.

The earnings are just his basic salary, but it could be more when earnings from other means like appearance fee, match allowance and goal bonus are added.

250million Naira a Week

Enyeama Replies Rohr – Why Do People Take Pleasure In Lies Just Because Enyeama Is Mentioned

https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/image-11.jpg
Former captain of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Vincent Enyeama has replied comments made by the coach of Nigeria Gernot Rohr that he refused to take nor return his calls when he tried reaching him on phone.

Speaking in Lagos during a media parley, Rohr said he reached out to the Lille shot stopper to help solve the team goalkeeper crisis, when Carl Ikeme pulled up injured before the World Cup qualifiers against Algeria but Enyeama didn’t take nor return his calls.

“When we had crisis in our hands after Carl Ikeme’s injury, I called him (Enyeama) over 10 times and he never responded nor called back”, Rohr said to Owngoalnigeria.com.

” I am happy with how Daniel Akpeyi responded to the test when he was called up as emergency cover, but he needs to buckle up because we can’t solely depend on Ikeme”.

However in a short reply to the story via his official twitter handle @Vinpee. Enyeama cleared the air by saying he didn’t get a call from the coach and wonder why he said so.

” Why do people take pleasure in lies just because Enyeama is mentioned. The coach never got me on phone, so I wonder why he said that”, he post right under the link of the story published by Owngoalnigeria.com.

Your points are dully noted.

I think the Nigerian media needs to do a lot of work in this regards.

Undue attention is given to foreign players at the expense of the much abundant talents we have at home.
Even in England the press is found complicit in the marketing of players for inducement by agents and other stakeholders.

However, the Nigerian press I find to be lazy and lacking innovation, we do not highlight the attributes of local players. I remember seeing Etebo at Warri Wolves and thought this boy has something special.

If Sunday Mbah had not gone to Afcon we wouldn't have known how good he was. Because the press didn't highlight him.

I will say again outside Nigeria the UK has the largest pool of talented pool of Nigerian players. We shouldn't wait for the UK press to make noise about them before we do, the Nigerian press.

Ademola Lookman is leaving Charlton Athletic for upwards of £10 million from league 1. How many more are there that are even better than him but not highlighted.

Akpeyi was not as good as Alampasu. Alampasu was clearly the best keeper in camp. We settled for a weaker option. That is what the term experience does. It gives the coach an option of selecting weak players.

I used to have is not property.

19 year old Alampasu has also given a good account of himself making smart saves in training the pick of the lot a reflex save of an iheanacho goal attempt

He might however still not be considered to start in goal against the Algerians as Rohr might settle for one of the more experienced duo of Ikechukwu ezenwa or Chippa United Daniel Akpeyi

Enyeama likes drama too much. Why will Rohr lie against him exactly? Everyone knows he's been courting him since he became the coach of the Eagles, and not once did Enyeama respond positively to the news.

We love you Vince, but it's time to retire in peace. We will continue to remember your great exploits.

Enyeama should not reply that way. He should get in touch with the coach and clear the problem. The coach said he called repeatedly and got no reply. Enyeama saying Rohr did not get him on phone does not disprove Rohr.

Enyeama should get the coach's number from one of his Super Eagles friends, call Rohr and establish communication to prevent another mixup.

Fantastic post. Very enlightening. However, I am more interested in how to break down Conte's defensive set up than the offensive. Conte kept a fine defensive record during the record breaking run.
It actually took a lot of intelligence from the opposition Coach and players to hand Chelsea her first defeat in so many unbeaten displays.

#Modified#

That Coach is very intelligent. They came hard at us, but waited patiently to execute their aerial plans, Which Chelsea's defence could not handle.

I just hope other Clubs do not get a clue from this encounter.

They are studying. That is how people studied Brendan Rodgers and Pochettino's work on Guardiola, causing us problems. Either way, Conte will still tweak and adjust the system. Let us see how it goes.

Bro their midfield trio of Gueye, Diame and Kouyate is Stronger than ours of Mikel, Onazi, Ndidi/Oghenekaro, based on recent form and experience.

The heart of their defence with Koulibali is better than ours. And ofcourse their full backs (Remember we practically do not have full backs yet)

In their attack, Mane is better than Iheanacho/Ighalo. ( and safarigirl's Osimen cheesy )

So?

Based on experience and talent, Mikel edges the midfielder trios, Onazi is even better than Kouyate to my own perspective. Etebo and Ndidi are underrated and they can match to man the trio of gueye and diame, John Ogu is there... Ndidi and Ogu once made it in a best 11 europa league team of a month.

Koulibali is also overrated, he only got the body and good in the air, I watch him closely almost every week. He's easy to smoke. as a player and natural winger, I'll smoke him very easily. I doubt he's better than Omeruo or Ekoong.

Yes Mane and seydou are good players but seydou is not a better player compared to Nacho we used to knw. Is Mane better than Moses? U knw we have Simon, Musa,..

Who told you Akpeyi did or did not do what in training?

Were you there with them?

You think training conditions are same as match day conditions?

If you think Akpeyi does not have the Charisma is it Alampasu that will have it?

If your assessment of Osimhen is not entirely based on his U17 exploits, on what other basis are you saying Rohr should invite him?
I don't think there is need for us to be arguing unnecessarily.

I want us to drive our points from Algeria match. The match in question was world cup qualifying match against top rated Africa side, prior to d match three goalkeepers were invited namely Ikeme,Ezenwa and young Alampasu but Ikeme got injured and Akpeyi was called as a replacement and manned d post.

The question is this, why Akpeyi who was not on original list was picked ahead of Alampasu and Ezenwa.A lots of things were put into considerations that only Rohr can explain.I remember his explanation on why he needed to drop home based players for Algeria match,it is simple he said league was on break. This decision gave room for Alampssu ahead of Emma Daniel but based on experience Ezenwa was picked.

Alampasu might be d best in camp due to reports from camp which nobody can authorized coz i remember d camping of Sydney 2000 dream team in Ilorin in 1999.I was privileged to watch their training live.It was straight fight between d two keeper Greg Etafia and Dele Aiyenugba on who to be picked. The reports journalists were bringing out to d loving sporting Nigerians was different from what we are seen live.

Aiyenugba was jumping, punching, diving like a cat with spectators applauding but Etafia was well composed by reading his line very well, organized his defence and u see that maturity in him.At d end Etafia was picked by coach shaibu Amodu and d sport writers were saying Dele was d best. The same scenario played out between Yakubu Aiyegbeni and Idemudia,we thought Idemudia was d best but Aiyegbeni was picked coz in front of goals he was deadlier but Idemudia bunch of skills and delight to watch.

It was this period that i realized the difference between pundits and coaches.A lot happened in d camp that w don't know and one need to hear from d coach b4 one can question his decisions.

It was very glaring prior to Algeria match that Alampasu w not manned d post irrespective of his performance in d camp and it's simple, match of such magnitude wasn't for rookie especially a sensitive area(goalkeeping)
