A North african team will win 2017 Afcon
Ivory Coast is better than any team in North Africa, they have the best chance IMO. Can't wait to see Zaha on African soil.

TheGoodJoe: Yara Yara, why is it that Alampasu proved himself a better goalkeeper than Akpeyi but Akpeyi got the nod to start against Algeria?

Yara Yara: Let me check the lab files. In 1962 a boy threw a banana and an egg from a two storey building. Akpeyi jumped from upstairs and caught them.

Current form over history.

We won the game so no matter what it was a good decision. Even Buffon and Enyeama will have one or two bad moments sometimes.

But a coach will pick someone who is not as good as Alampasu to face Algeria. Mystery.
I want to repeat it again NO COACH w pick Alampasu for Algeria match.

I agree on that but I am pointing this out for future reference. Let us stick to the best players instead of sticking to means that do not give a direct proof whether it matters or not.

Warm ups. You want to base the judgment of goalkeepers on warm up. Please, you and I know Alampasu was the better keeper. tbaba1234 even shared tweets about it from a veteran journalist.

We went with the weaker choice. Simple.

I have shared a link. Sites covered daily reports from the camp and all verdicts was Alampasu was better than Akpeyi and Ezenwa.

Let me quote safarigirl, so it will not be as if I was the only one who noticed the gap.

safarigirl:
Rohr will play Akpeyi based on experience

Alampasu was the best during training yesterday, but he's young and may experience stage fright- risky

Ezenwa, hasn't played in over a month, match rusty and Rohr doesn't trust him

Akpeyi it is.

We opted for the weaker choice based on experience. Experience is an excuse to drop the better player.

Egypt have never relied on super star players. If you've been wat watching them closely through the qualifiers, you will appreciate they are a rock solid outfit.

It seems all I have written looks Arabic. I have said it times without number. I do not believe in History. I believe in current form. There was a long debate before the players arrived camp and some members of this thread kept us updated with the daily reports from camp.

Alampasu was clearly the best in camp. Long before that. During that time and after, my point has not changed.

The coach should invite those he considered the best pool. Drill and screen them and come up with the best in every role.

Rohr drilled and screened. Alampasu came out top. We opted for the weaker choice.

Rohr confirms Akpeyi will be in goal against Algeria

Akpeyi, a late replacement for Ikeme, will be in goal tomorrow because of his experience at this level.

It was a difficult decision to take going by the performance of Alampasu in training,
but in the end it was agreed for Chippa United of South Africa shot stopper Akpeyi to be given the nod.

I got your point now, play the better player in camp irrespective of their experiences.

If Alampasu perform better than Ikeme,he should start,if Kenneth Otigba perform better than Leon in training he should start,if Madu show flashes in training,he should start ahead of Echiejele,if obiora nwankwo played like Olishe in training he should start ahead Ndidi and Onazi,Ajagun can come in and take Mikel place coz he replicate Messi in training,Osimieh can come in and take Nacho place coz he outshine Nacho in training.

My man with due respect, player selection has gone beyond this,a lot of criteria are put into considerations and that part of d consideration make Akpeyi to bench Alampasu.

To be candid Alampasu is coming to that stage when such consideration w not be a factor against him and we are all praying for that level.Do u remember Rufai,Agu and Agbonibavte era, this was d best era of Nigeria goal keeping,a coach can closed his eyes and pick any of d trio

I don't think there is need for us to be arguing unnecessarily.

I want us to drive our points from Algeria match. The match in question was world cup qualifying match against top rated Africa side, prior to d match three goalkeepers were invited namely Ikeme,Ezenwa and young Alampasu but Ikeme got injured and Akpeyi was called as a replacement and manned d post.

The question is this, why Akpeyi who was not on original list was picked ahead of Alampasu and Ezenwa.A lots of things were put into considerations that only Rohr can explain.I remember his explanation on why he needed to drop home based players for Algeria match,it is simple he said league was on break. This decision gave room for Alampssu ahead of Emma Daniel but based on experience Ezenwa was picked.

Alampasu might be d best in camp due to reports from camp which nobody can authorized coz i remember d camping of Sydney 2000 dream team in Ilorin in 1999.I was privileged to watch their training live.It was straight fight between d two keeper Greg Etafia and Dele Aiyenugba on who to be picked. The reports journalists were bringing out to d loving sporting Nigerians was different from what we are seen live.

Aiyenugba was jumping, punching, diving like a cat with spectators applauding but Etafia was well composed by reading his line very well, organized his defence and u see that maturity in him.At d end Etafia was picked by coach shaibu Amodu and d sport writers were saying Dele was d best. The same scenario played out between Yakubu Aiyegbeni and Idemudia,we thought Idemudia was d best but Aiyegbeni was picked coz in front of goals he was deadlier but Idemudia bunch of skills and delight to watch.

It was this period that i realized the difference between pundits and coaches .A lot happened in d camp that w don't know and one need to hear from d coach b4 one can question his decisions.

It was very glaring prior to Algeria match that Alampasu w not manned d post irrespective of his performance in d camp and it's simple, match of such magnitude wasn't for rookie especially a sensitive area(goalkeeping)

Yes sometimes it w look Arabic when u are not ready to accept some views.

Mind u no coach screen a player in senior national team,u must be ready for d task with simple instruction,if u failed to meet up u are out.

Super Eagle is not under age team where u need to screen b4 u can get d best. The best are d ones assembled for national team and d best must be ready for d task ahead.

Aurier and Sala will never match up against each other. Salah operates from the right and cuts in with his left foot.
The Ivorian left back will have Salah to deal with not Aurier.

Even if they come together, between Salah and Aurier who is quicker?

Best defenders? Aurier has very poor positional awareness. He tends to overlap every single time, feeling like a super man.
Egypt can exploit the gaps he leaves. Just an inspired moment of Eleney pin point pass out to Salah in the gap Aurier leaves, then it's bye bye to Baghdad.
