Wolfburg have officially unveiled Osimhen... Hopefully, he sets the Bundesliga on fire. |

goldfish80:Bravo was the only top quality goalkeeper good with his feet Guardiola could land. If you followed the transfer news, Guardiola wanted Ter Stegen who is younger and less experienced than Bravo. Barcelona turned down the deal and preferred to sell the more experienced one. Why? Because ter Stergen is better. Think better, not experience. |

goldfish80: Note, I did not say younger but better. If a younger midfielder is better than Mikel, He should play ahead of Mikel. If we can not find a younger midfielder better than Mikel, Mikel should keep his position. Not younger but better. Not experience but better. |

TheGoodJoe:So in Man city £200 million academy, there is no single 19yr old goalkeeper who is decent with his feet? |

tbaba1234:has he finally reasoned his life? Did he watch the game against Algeria and thought "oh boy, true true these people fit qualify for World Cup and I go make the squad"? Did he look through a list of Europe's best players and come to the conclusion that he's a small fish in a big pond? Did he read the big moves our players are making and feel, "this could be me, but I no dey play international football"? Or did he finally decide that his agent is talking bullocks and shouldn't be taken seriously if he wants a great career? Anyway whatever it was, I'm happy he made this decision on time, before he would have become another Onuorah singing the blues He should go and collect junior boys form from Iwobi and Kelechi |

goldfish80:I don't know why they won't even promote Angus Gunn properly, if Bravo can be first choice, Angus deserves a shot because Bravo is woeful by any standard |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by goldfish80(m): 7:16pm On Jan 05, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe:But Alampasu haven't kept a clean sheet all season for his 3 division Portuguese club. How can you compare him with a Psl player? club captain, with 2/3 clean sheets? What exactly makes you think Alampasu is better? |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 7:18pm On Jan 05, 2017 |
goldfish80: Tell me two top quality young goalkeepers apart from ter Stegen better than Bravo with their feet. It seems you are forgetting that Guardiola joined City this season and the demand for keepers good with their feet just kicked off. In the academy now, they are training the keepers on it. Angus Gunn talked about it too. So Bravo is there because he is better, not experienced. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 7:20pm On Jan 05, 2017 |
goldfish80: That is the point. You have jumped to history. You want to judge based on history. Scrap that invited the top choices and screen in camp. I did not invite Alampasu. Rohr did. He has his reasons. In camp screen and select the best to play. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by goldfish80(m): 7:26pm On Jan 05, 2017 |
safarigirl:The point am trying to make is that TheGoodJoe would defend Guardiola for spending alot to get an experienced goalkeeper but would frown at Rohr for choosing experience ahead of a crucial world cup qualifier. Am sure for all the qualities of Bravo, there is a young keeper in the academy Guardiola should have promoted. |

| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by goldfish80(m): 7:29pm On Jan 05, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe:Pickford the young Sunderland keeper is a superb keeper with good left foot. For the £200m pumped into the city academy, is there no keeper as decent as Pickford? |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 7:30pm On Jan 05, 2017 |
safarigirl: Bravo looks woeful if you look at the goals he is conceding. That is due to the defence and some time defensive midfield not aligning with the ball handling philosophy Guardiola demands. To understand the importance of Bravo and why Willy Caballero and Angus Gunn will remain behind Bravo for now, watch how many times our defenders pass to Bravo under pressure. Watch his clearances and his connecting passes. That can not do it like Bravo and Bravo keeps the position. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 7:31pm On Jan 05, 2017 |
goldfish80: Are you saying Pickford is better than Bravo with his feet? Or you just throwing names. Are you saying Pickford will distribute the ball better than Bravo? If he can not, I do not get why his name is here. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by safarigirl(f): 7:56pm On Jan 05, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe:Bravo doesn't doesn't look woeful, Bravo IS woeful. You want to blame an at least £100 million defense for Bravo's inability to stop a ball from entering his net? That means City made some terrible investments in the back line. So is it just Bravo that should be changed? Or does City need to ship off their over £100 million defense team for some Academy boys? |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by safarigirl(f): 7:59pm On Jan 05, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe:a keeper's priority is to ensure balls don't get into his net. That is the main reason he's on that pitch, so all these things about footwork and distribution of balls, is he a keeper or a ballet dancer? A goalie with these attributes who can't keep out goals is like a striker with good footwork and dribbling skills who can't score goals |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 8:04pm On Jan 05, 2017 |
safarigirl: It is the philosophy of Guardiola. If he wanted a keeper with tremendous saves, Joe Hart will still be in the club. Yes a keepers primary duty is to save the ball but he philosophy is to control the game by keeping possession for a long period of time. With that, the keeper is not under much pressure. He has a big part to play in helping the team keep possession. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by goldfish80(m): 8:04pm On Jan 05, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe:Pickford is not even at Man city. I was responding to your enquiry about a young keeper who is good with his feet. My question is why will you commend Guardiola for poaching an experienced keeper but knock Rohr for going for experience. You haven't responded to my head to head comparism between Akpeyi and Alampasu's club form. |

Petrobros:It's too early to judge. But even now, we have four Manu's boys in the Eagles right now: Iheanacho, Musa, Ndidi (he played qualifiers), and Alampasu. The fifth person is Isaac Success. We know it is injuries that have kept him out of Eagles camp. He's been invited already. So perhaps, this will be the most successful squad. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 8:06pm On Jan 05, 2017 |
safarigirl:The back line is aging. Not terrible investment. For now, we only secured Stones. With time, the likes of Sagna, Kolarov, Zabaleta and Clichy will go. Players who suit the system more will come in. Our defenders are not comfortable on the ball. Although we are seeing massive improvements in Otamendi. As I said before, the system takes time. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by goldfish80(m): 8:07pm On Jan 05, 2017 |
safarigirl:Seriously if goalkeepers must be ball jugglers, I wonder why Guardiola didn't play Ronaldinho or Deco in goal so they can play from the back. They were the 2 best players with the ball at their feet at Barca. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by safarigirl(f): 8:10pm On Jan 05, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe:Guardiola must be a dull coach if he's more interested in ball control and distribution than keeping a ball out of a net. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by komekn(m): 8:10pm On Jan 05, 2017 |
goldfish80:If you know the politics of money settlements and arrangement that goes on in most academies you will understand why. City really don't have time to wait for you to develop they need success now not tomorrow. |

Any of you had a look at Everton's new £10 million pound player 19 year old Ademola Lookman from league 1 Charlton. I will reserve my comments. |

komekn:He looks a little green in my opinion for that kind of money. Perhaps inflated by his English citizenship. He is good on the run and uses both feet but does not pass enough, always looking to shoot. |

tbaba1234:The first thing to do is check who his agents are that may give you some insight. Green is very true but what makes him worth £10milla what's his unique selling point or outstanding ability. Two feet is not enough |

safarigirl: You call a man who created one of the best artworks, if not the best ever artwork in football a dull coach. It is his art. HE WHO CONTROLS THE BALL CONTROLS THE GAME. Alex Ferguson and Beckenbauer do not think Guardiola is dull. |

TheGoodJoe:And the 45 or more players they have on loan, there is very little space for young players to break through in these big "money miss Road" clubs. And when the money miss Road do you think it goes back to Abramovich. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by komekn(m): 8:50pm On Jan 05, 2017 |
Chalobah I really like he's been on so many loans when will he get a solid run in the team. Same goes for Rueben Loftus, Ola Aina, Solanke, Traore, I have lost count. Any other team they would be first team regulars. I guess the pay is so high they scared to leave all that £££ behind. I know Aina before he renewed hadn't played a game yet and was asking for 50k a week. |
