Kog45:Like seriously, you want to school me on Ike Shorunmu's injury. What next, Shakpoke's injury or Muller's goal against us in the Friendly or Mijatovic turning Okparaku inside out. Or us changing Jersey after the first half against Yugoslavia. Bia, I am controlling my Kung-fu shoes. |

TheGoodJoe:Yes kudos to John Obi Mikel for leaving Chelsea without any issue with Conte,is a plus for him coz it showed how good professional should behave,d young lads coming up should learn this from him(patience and perseverance) |

In Afam4eva:You are making a negative assumption. There should be a far better way of courting Nigerian players who are not culturally savvy where Nigeria is concerned. Structure, process and engagement needs to be much better. I can say that Amaju has done considerably better than his predecessors but much more needs to be done. |

Kog45:It is considerably much easier to be patient and persevere when you are not hungry and your contentment has being massaged with a long term £80k+ weekly wages contract. |

TheGoodJoe:See, it is never done anywhere in the world. A junior/ Cadet team coach being promoted along with his boys. That is a recipe for catastrophe and failure. I recall the argument started with Fani Amun not being promoted to Super Eagles coach. You said he would have carried along his 1993 FIFA U17 boys into the Super Eagles. I told you blatantly that that would not work as most products of the U17 do not progress well. That is where I also pointed out that it is not just a Nigerian case but world-wide. You will not get the best crop of players for the senior level if you give preference to a particular U17 squad players. I then went ahead to point out that that same trend will very likely affect the 2013 Eaglets, that most of that 18man squad that won that FIFA WC will end up not playing for the Super Eagles. Shocking as it sounded then but I stood my ground on that debate. We both pointed out that the 1993 Eaglets had produced the highest number of players that ever played for the Super Eagles which was a shocking 5 out of 18. Now, back to your idea of promoting Manu so he can carry along his boys. This is partly what affected us under Siasia with his 'my boys policy'. He would not select the best, he would be inviting the boys he tutored at U20. I have always stated this fact: that most U17 graduates do not progress well. A good number do not even measure up at U20 level. That was why I became disturbed when I found that 10 out of Amuneke's U20 starting 11 were from his U17 squad. See, if any of the Manu's or Amuneke's players excel in their Professional careers and Rohr or whoever is in charge feels there is a need to invite the player, he would be invited. Not this talk of reserving shirt for a player or players who have not even started their professional careers. The Chidi Nwakali you said cried to Siasia was he as at then better than Ifeanyi Mathew and Ifeanyi Nwobodo? Recall that Ifeanyi Mathew was dropped prio to the CAF U23. Nwobodo I feel may have been considered but for his injury. Looking at the midfield Siasia had at the Olympics do you think Chidi Nwakali would have made the squad: Azuibuike, Etebor, Usman Mohammed, Saliu Popoola, and Mikel. Wilfed Ndidi was originally in his plans but later pulled-out due to club commitments. I have nothing against any young player, what I am against is feeling they deserve a place when they have not shown they deserve the place. Isaac Success for instance is a Manu boy and I have been calling for his inclusion in the Super Eagles cos I have seen the substance in him as a professional player. Let other youth players work hard too just like Iheanacho, Iwobi, Ndidi and the likes and lets see if Rohr would not give them a look-in and a call-up. |

joseph1013:The argument was on the 18man squad that won the FIFIA U17. Ndidi was not among. Alampasu has not yet played for the Super Eagles. Musa is one leg in, one leg out. Or what do u say it is that u have a Musa Mohammed and you are still searching for a RB. If Ebuehi performs well now, na so Musa don go be that. Yes they are still developing but let them prove their mettle first then they can be invited to fight for a place in the Super Eagles. |

Icon4s:They are all Manu's boys. Manu brought them to the spotlight, same way we know the Siasia boys. TheGoodJoe is referring to those that are already in the Eagles. For what it's worth, if we qualify for the World Cup as it is, Alampasu will be mentioned as part of the team. Only one goalkeeper can keep at a time unlike other positions. In the future, Alampasu will be called a former Super Eagles goalkeeper. See? I say this set can be the most successful. We already have 5 bonafide members of the team in the Eagles. And the naysayers keep forgetting that the oldest among them is still 20 years old. We still have at least 10 more years to wait. So what's this dismissive attitude? |

Icon4s: I think the Mexican coach who faced Manu Garba in the U17 World Cup went all the way to the Olympics. So, it can be done. We just fail to do it and use mythical excuses to mask our inability to build our promising talents and coaches. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 12:33pm On Jan 06, 2017 |
Icon4s: Mind you, I did not say promoted to head coach. I was talking of Manu Garba being part of the current coaching crew. Like the third coach. If he was, he can point some of the players from his team who can help the Super Eagles. If Manu Garba was in Oliseh's crew, he would have been able to convince him to give Iheanacho a run earlier. In the case of Alampasu and Akpeyi, Manu Garba would put in a debate in favor of the young man. I see the Olympics as a good Frontier to stop. After Manu Garba's boys played three - three with Siasia's Olympics team which were far older, I doubt there is a Gulf in class. |

Icon4s: I beg. I believe Chidi Nwakali would make the squad wella. At least Usman Mohammed and Sadiq positions. We are talking of a young man who was under the age of seventeen and Pellegrini thought he was good enough to play for City. He went on tour with Iheanacho to America but unfortunately injured. The young man is good. I said invite him to camp. That was what I expected from Siasia. If he is not considered good enough, then I can accept that. However, not calling him at all and saying he will not meet up does not work for me. If Pellegrini did not show faith in Iheanacho and gave him a chance to show himself, Oliseh would still not believe he was ready for the Super Eagles. |

Icon4s: As for the promotion of the U17 teams, they will form a yard stick for searching for new talents. Let us take Osimhen. Do you think it is easy to scout and find a better talent within his age bracket in attack? Amunike did a thorough screening and selected good talents. The exploits of Okonkwo and Kelechi Nwakali paints this picture. Amunike screened his team again, inviting over six hundred boys. Some made it into his team but most of his boys were still the best to him. That is what I expect. Have your team and keep searching for better talents. That is how to build a formidable squad. Whether youth teams, national teams or squad. No one is asking for a replica and promoting youth coaches is not a recipe for disaster. |

joseph1013:Firstly, the argument was not on which set will produce the highest number of players that will play for the Super Eagles. 1. The argument was sparked as a result of my mention that MOST of the FIFA U17 WC winning squad would not make it to the Super Eagles. 2. I hope you know that Wilfred Ndidi first featured for the John Obu's U20 that were part at the 2013 WYC. Obu brought Ndidi to lime light and not Manu. Also Ndidi was not part of the 18man squad to the 2013 FIFA U17. 3. Do you know Emmanuel Babayaro was once invited to the Super Eagles camp of the 90s. He never got to play any game for the Super Eagles and so till date only referred to as a former youth international. Don't get me wrong. I dnt have anything against any player. My own is "no preference because they are Manu's boys". Let them show they have come of age first and merit the national team call up. |

TheGoodJoe:Good you have just mentioned 3 Talented players that we all feel can go all the way to achieve great things but not the whole squad. That is just my point. Most will not make it to the Super Eagles. From that Amuneke's U17 team I still feel a good number were not ready for the U20 competition. Some players progression are some what slow. Moving the whole U17 squad to U20 was a major error. Inclusion of other players from the NPFL and other leagues in the world would have made that team more competitive and balanced. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 1:17pm On Jan 06, 2017 |
Icon4s:They were not playing the U20 World Cup but the qualifiers. Solanke and Ejaria would not play at that stage. It was to be a long process but unfortunately, neglect caused the team problems. It is not about promoting the whole squad but using it as a yard stick to keep building. |

Icon4s: Sadiq and Musa Mohammed would not make that City tour. The recent impact Chidi Nwakali made last year, Usman and Sadiq can not do it. |

Icon4s: Please, Amunike did not move the squad to the U20. He screened over six hundred boys and selected the best. That is not moving. It was an open camp. Those you say he should have invited should have come to camp. |

BascoVanVeli: Sorry. Did not mean it to come out that way. I said Siasia should have invited C. Nwakali to camp and he listed them as above Nwakali. Is that not putting Nwakali down? I am just pointing out why the young man is special. It is not fair our team has not given him a bit of consideration despite showing signs of great promise. City are still holding on to him despite interest from clubs. He deserves a chance. |

BascoVanVeli: Enyeama is a senior player. He is a role model to our promising youngsters. It is up to him to settle this problem with Rohr. Rohr always kept Enyeama on high grounds. Even talked of Enyeama returning during the World Cup. Let Enyeama end this roller coaster. |

BascoVanVeli:This has nothing to do with respect for white man or if he's a black ass coach. No. It's just that we know he has some temper issues and we gladly supported him cos he was right then, but now, it's getting too much, and yeah he's retired. But if he is truly retired. He would simply say it respectfully. What does Gernot want gain from lying? |

TheGoodJoe:oh cmon. Are you saying there isn't any, any Goalie better with feet than Bravo in existence, cos that's what your statement implies. Right there in the EPL, Mignolet and this Bournemouth Goalie, are far far better with footwork than Bravo. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by daveP(m): 1:58pm On Jan 06, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe:The last 5 goals that Bravo conceded had nothing to do with defence, in fact the defence were beaten and only had Bravo left to deal with, he, like Cech, don't take fast decisions with one on one and when it's only them left.... |

TheGoodJoe:How come you're dissing Sadiq? At the Olympics you fought everyone who called Sadiq out for being poor. You stood by him and defended him like he was your brother. Your 360° cycle have made me realise that you know deep down inside of you the truth in most topic of interest to you like Man city,Guardiola and Kelechi but you choose to defend just for the sake of it. I now understand you ![]() |
