Exactly, you don't know Rohr, so on what basis are you judging him the liar?

You don't even know the Enyeama you're standing up for, but because he's the black man, hey, let's put a stake through Rohr's heart.
What i am doing is, 1. giving the benefit of a doubt 2. Saying the issue is not that serious 3. Standing up for the best goalkeeper in African and Nigerian history who happens to be a black man.

Firstly, the argument was not on which set will produce the highest number of players that will play for the Super Eagles.
1. The argument was sparked as a result of my mention that MOST of the FIFA U17 WC winning squad would not make it to the Super Eagles.
2. I hope you know that Wilfred Ndidi first featured for the John Obu's U20 that were part at the 2013 WYC. Obu brought Ndidi to lime light and not Manu. Also Ndidi was not part of the 18man squad to the 2013 FIFA U17.
3. Do you know Emmanuel Babayaro was once invited to the Super Eagles camp of the 90s. He never got to play any game for the Super Eagles and so till date only referred to as a former youth international.

Don't get me wrong. I dnt have anything against any player. My own is "no preference because they are Manu's boys". Let them show they have come of age first and merit the national team call up.

1. Hmmm... the argument is that U17 players generally don't make the transition to the Super Eagles. And it is true all over the world. Not a lot of them are successful. It's not even a Nigerian matter. It's all over. My point is that Manu 's U17 set may turn out to be the most successful. So it's a subtle ploy to limit Manu's boys to the U17 World Cup. Manu's boys include those we know through his screening and camping. Those that played qualifiers for the African U17, Morocco 2013 and UAE 2013.

2. It's as if you've forgotten that I created the threads for the discussion of the Manu boys. That means I know them very well. It was Manu who discovered Ndidi. Obuh called Ndidi up for the U20 WYC after CAF disqualified him from the African U17 in Morocco in April 2013. Obuh called him in June 2013. Prior to that time, Ndidi had played qualifiers for African U17 in 2012. As you can see, he's a proper Manu boy.

3. Bros, Emmanuel Babayaro is regularly referred to as a former Super Eagles goalkeeper by the Press. Lemme give you a few links:

so his footwork won him all those titles. He was the only one on the pitch ba. No you should pass me what you're smoking. Or rather ask Joe, cos he said there's none like Bravo when it comes to footwork.

So how does titles justify his footwork?

Add the price of the weed besides grin

Just like saying Valdes was better than Casillas cos he won lots of titles with Barca! Cmon that's laughable and hilarious.....

De Gea hasn't won much with Man U, does that take away the fact that he isn't world class? Chai
When it comes to better footwork, who is Bravo, near Mignolet?

Lemme not go further sef...
If u are not going to pass it at least tell me where to get some. What else does a keeper at barca do? Anyone can win at barca but when u beat Messi and co twice on penalties u should get respected.

One of the things about NFF communication with players it is facilitated by other officials, who may not be the most efficient.

Did he have the right number, did he call at the right time, for instance training usually starts at 9.30 am may not end until 2.30/3.00pm. During this period your phones off.

There are a multitude of scenarios that can cause a breakdown of communication. Enyeama is not a liar, a man of integrity yes from all I have heard.
I still don't understand what really transpire between Rohr n Vincent.

Was it that Rohr was giving a wrong contact-by anyone in d glasshouse or wherever just to vindicate themselves by victimizing/tagging Vincent as d bad guy? Or Rohr himself dialling d wrong number(it can happen to anyone)?

Well, Vincent shouldn't have gone d social media way just like Osaze did during Late Keshi's era...

I'm sure one day d truth will come to limelight.

GABRIEL JESUS NOT A THREAT TO IHEANACHO - Guardiola Hints

"He (Gabriel Jesus) can play as a winger making movements outside, inside, but of course he has to play close to the goal," Guardiola said.

"He's not a typical winger down the line like Ras [Raheem Sterling] or Jesus [Navas]. He has to live in front of the goal.

"He has a good sense of the goal, he makes good movements and runs in behind. You have to use him close to Sergio, close to our strikers."

http://www.sportalnz.gearbox.performgroup.com/football/english-football/no-pressure-on-gabriel-jesus-as-pep-guardiola-eyes-sergio-aguero-link-up-manchester-city/h38spgv4cqve16ksp2y04gcoe

Guardiola plans to use him in a more creative way to supply the strike force and also score too. This does not mean Guardiola might not use him as a striker or false nine. However, the Manchester City boss vision is clear. Aguero and Iheanacho are his strikers. He does not plan to use Gabriel as one.
The Vision is not clear to him yet, he just have to do the right thing and put the right player at the right position. This is epl, they will beat him right and back if anything goes wrong.

Nacho is an AM attacking hybrid player that has goals record, The pressure is on him and it's not good for a young player.

In football today, we can not use the term right position freely. Suarez played multiple positions when Forlan was a Uruguayan hit man. Now he is a regular nine. Messi led the way as a false 9 of Barcelona. Now he plays on the right side. Unless you want Iheanacho to bench regularly, Silva and De Bruyne have the ten role locked. Iheanacho only has Aguero ahead of him.

Rohr used Iheanacho as a ten earlier. Later he used Iheanacho as a nine. Depending on different circumstances like tactics, injuries etc. A player can fit in different roles.

Look at De Bruyne who can play on the wings, right and left, as a ten and a false 9. That is how modern day forwards play. Look at Iwobi playing on the wings and ten. Look at Neymar playing on the wings, attack midfield and nine.

Iheanacho is a modern day forward, not a ten.

Mignolet’s Passing: Poor Ability Or Lack Of Options?

Southampton were victorious over Liverpool on Saturday for a variety of reasons; being clinical in the box and competitive all over the pitch being two very important ones.

But they also pressed from the front to limit the Reds’ passing options, knowing full well that Mignolet is not particularly comfortable on the ball, and sure enough, the big Belgian gave possession over to them twenty-one times over the course of the match.

https://basstunedtored.com/2013/09/22/mignolets-passing-poor-ability-or-lack-of-options/

In defence, Mikel pressed up field against Barcelona midfielder Xavi, who was eventually unable to pull the strings due to Mikel’s constant harassing.

http://backpagefootball.com/the-curious-case-of-john-obi-mikel/59804/

Taken from this chapter.

In the contentious second leg of the Barcelona semifinal encounter, on the back of a solid performance in their 1-0 win earlier, Mikel single handedly shut down the Barcelona midfield. For 90 minutes, the Nigerian showed determination, stamina and speed that were once thought to have been nonexistent in his game. In defence, Mikel pressed up field against Barcelona midfielder Xavi, who was eventually unable to pull the strings due to Mikel’s constant harassing. Furthermore, the Nigerian was tireless in double marking Lionel Messi, while breaking down through balls from the Barcelona midfield. In attack, Mikel kept things simple as ever, laying of the ball to midfielders like Ramires and Lampard before man marking Lionel Messi, denying the Argentinian space to ply his skill as a false nine from deeper midfield. Chelsea emerged with a 2-2 draw and winners on aggregate, moving to a much stronger challenge against Bayern Munich.

Ighalo still with us insists Watford boss amid China move rumours

Watford forward Odion Ighalo

Manager Walter Mazzarri has insisted Odion Ighalo remains a Watford player despite rumours he may now take the big cash from China, adding the Nigeria striker will as a result be involved in today’s FA Cup tie against Burton Albion.

Speculations are rife that Ighalo is now set to reignite a big-money move to China after he has twice rejected such an overture.

However, Mazzarri has maintained he will not be part of the rumours by insisting the Nigeria striker remains a Watford player.

“Ighalo will play for us against Burton Albion. I only talk on players who are with us,” declared the Italian coach.

The 27-year-old Ighalo has managed only a goal in 17 appearances in the Premier League this season after he netted 15 goals last term.

SHOCKER: FIFA stop $1.5 million grant to Nigeria, cite 'traces of corruption'

by Samm Audu

Broke Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have been dealt yet another huge financial blow as world football governing body FIFA announced they have stopped their annual $1.5 development grant after they found “traces of corruption” in how previous monies have been spent by the NFF.

AfricanFootball.com also learnt FIFA went further to issue the NFF a FINAL warning “to straighten their financial records”.

The Nigerian government is now expected to quickly step into this latest international embarrassment caused by the Amaju Pinnick-led NFF after sports minister Solomon Dalung first expressed serious misgivings on the back of a FIFA query on how NFF used grants paid them.

NFF received the damning letter by FIFA this week and it was signed from the office in charge of the national associations.

FIFA member-associations including Nigeria began to receive increased annual grants under new president Gianni Infantino.

Previously the associations were paid $250,000 per annum.
But this has since been increased to between $1.2 million and $1.5 million to each FA.

The FIFA hammer comes at a time anti-corruption agency EFCC are also investigating a petition against the NFF and auditors questioned the handling of the federation’s finances for the past fiscal year.

CAF ELECTIONS: Nigeria can't replace Pinnick, polls March 16

by Samm Audu

Nigeria can no longer replace Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president Amaju Pinnick from the forthcoming CAF executive committee elections despite clear opposition by the government because deadline for submission of candidature has long passed.

The deadline by CAF for submission of nominations was December 15, 2016, officials informed AfricanFootball.com
Pinnick submitted his nomination for the CAF executive committee polls without the endorsement of the NFF executive committee.

He also did not get a formal approval from government as other candidates from Nigeria like Aminu Maigari and Ibrahim Galadima got before they contested in the CAF elections.

Last month, fuming Nigerian sports minister Solomon Dalung had announced the government will set up a committee to recommend “a suitable candidate” for the polls.

The elections are set for March 16 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Super Eagles Will Maintain Winning Formula - Salisu

By Augustine Akhilomen

Super Eagles head coach, Salisu Yusuf says the senior national team will maintain their unbeaten run in their quest to pick the automatic ticket for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The three-time Africa champions are top of group B after beating Zambia 2-1 in Ndola before thrashing Algeria 3-1 in Uyo, to earn six points. Nigeria will face Cameroon on August 28, 2017 in Uyo, in an encounter that could determine the fate of both teams considering the fact that the Indomitable Lions sit second with two points.

Salisu who has maintained a perfect relationship with Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr since taking over in August, told Soccernet.com.ng that the team would continue their winning streak in 2017.

"To be frank, 2016 was a memorable year for the Super Eagles in terms of our World Cup campaign because it's was what we wanted," Salisu told Soccernet.com.ng

"What is paramount for the technical crew this year is on how the team will maintain an unbeaten run that will ultimately ensure Nigeria qualify for the 2018 World Cup," he said.

Chelsea not aware of clubs interested in Mikel - Conte

The future still looks uncertain for Super Eaglesteam captain, John Obi Mikel, if a declaration yesterday by Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte that there is no news to report concerning his transfer this January are anything to go by.

Mikel has been frozen out of the Chelsea team as he has yet to make a competitive appearance for the side this season.

The Super Eagles midfielder has been linked with a January move away from the club with Olympique Marseille, Valencia and a club in the Chinese Super League mentioned among his suitors.

[s]But Conte stated in his press conference that he had no concrete news about a possible transfer for Mikel.[/s]

“For now, we haven’t got any news about Mikel,” Conte said when he was asked if Mikel will leave the club this month.

The 29-year-old joined Chelsea in 2006 in a protracted transfer, having initially signed a deal with Manchester United.

The Blues ended up paying United £12 million for the midfielder, plus £4 million to Norwegian side Lyn Oslo.

Antonio Conte salutes Mikel's time at Chelsea

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has praised Mikel Obi’s contribution to ‘The Blues’ in the 10 years he was at the club.

Mikel has left for Chinese club Tianjin Teda after he lost his first-team place on arrival of Conte at Stamford Bridge.

Conte said he believes the move will be a new challenge for the Nigeria skipper after an eventful time at Chelsea.

“Mikel played many years with this club and won a lot. But there is a moment you want to change, get a new experience,” Conte said at a media briefing

“I wish for him and his family the best.”

The Nigeria midfielder joined Chelsea in 2006 after controversially opting out of a contract with Premier League rivals Manchester United.

Besides winning all the major honours in England, he also won the UEFA Champions League and Europa League.

It is considerably much easier to be patient and persevere when you are not hungry and your contentment has being massaged with a long term £80k+ weekly wages contract.
Are u saying Mikel perseverance has to do with £80k irrespective whether is playing or not and not hungry means d guy wasn't ambitious.

I differ with u on this and what i mean by Mikel patience and perseverance was how he was frozen out of Chelsea squad without making any noise about it.I remember how malouda and Anelka were forced to train with d reserves when they tried to express their views on why they are not making d team.

Yes,our expectations on Mikel may be high or he failed to live up to d billing but that doesn't downgrade him as a good player who served a top club for 10 years and leaving in peace,Conte and a lot of fans appreciate him for being a thorough professional who doesn't question his coaches decisions. The young lads coning up should emulate him coz to be successful in any profession, ones need to be patience and perseverance irrespective what is coming your way.

On 80k weekly, well i cannot say much on it coz it was always secretive to know exact amount this player are collecting but as an African,it is a good pay,u find it so hard to see an African players coming from nowhere and earning big.I still remember Ivanovic d third longest serving Chelsea player is on 65k,also Cahil on 85k but player like newly signings kante 110k and Batsuayi 90k,only club can talk on player wages.

Mikel should have been on 100k plus if he was given contract extension but i w not say good for him to go to china but sometimes players considered a lots before moving to another club especially out of Europe.Mikel wish was to remain in Europe but which club is ready to offer him 100k plus.

He has paid his due in European football nothing more to prove, good for him at least playing time is guaranteed now and it w help Nigeria qualification to Russia 2018.

“Oyibo Defence” – Ebuehi’s Capture Helps Rohr Completes A Dream Back Four Of Players With Dual Nationalities

https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/image-15.jpg
As the Super Eagles of Nigeria rebuilding process continues under manager Gernot Rohr, there are indications that if all goes according to plan, the manager could line up a back four consisting of players with dual nationality for Nigeria.

Rohr has been busy convincing players with dual nationality to switch allegiance to Nigeria, particularly in the defence where they are few options for the coach.

So far the defence has two players with dual nationality in William Troost Ekong, who carries a dutch passport and Leon Balogun who was born in Germany as leaders, with goalkepper Carl Ikeme also carrying a British passport in addition to his green passport.

Dutch Nigerian defender Tyrone Ebuehi has agreed to switch nationality to Nigeria after initially asking for more time to focus on his club career.

Russian born Nigerian defender Brian Idowu was a late omission from the squad for the last World Cup 2018 qualifiers against Algeria, no thanks to issues bothering on securing a Nigerian passport.

Hungarian Nigerian Kenneth Otigba is also set to be given the chance he has been craving for a very long time by Rohr, who will visit Turkey and run the rule on the 24 year old, who plays for Kasimpasa.

All of the above mentioned players are for now, the options coach Rohr is looking at and if he succeeds, it is very possible for Nigeria to line up a back four of players with dual nationality including goalkepper.

Watford Striker Ighalo Waiting For Rohr’s Permission Before Deciding On Move To China

https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/image-21.jpg
Watford striker Odion Ighalo is reportedly waiting to get the green light from the coach of the Nigeria senior national team Gernot Rohr before deciding on a move to Shanghai Shenhua.

We gathered his agent Atta Aneke has gotten him a double your pay deal in China with Shanghai Shenhua, same club where Obafemi Martins plays, who are on the look out for a striker to make up for the absence of Demba Ba due to a long term injury.

However the move could end his international career due to the options available to manager Gernot Rohr, hence he is seeking assurances from the coach, who incidentally named him among the Nigerian players he will love to see switch teams in January.

Before the start of last season, the 27 year old turned down a big money move to China but since then a lot has changed in his form at club and international level.

While he was among the feared strikers in the English Premier League last season, this season he has just one goal to his name, which has cost him his starting spot at Watford.

What is the significance of DUAL nationality from. Your perspective huh

Does it reduce thier value and or commitment to the national team. Or are you implying subtly that they are less Nigerian.

What you are suggesting has already happened the 1998 team probably had more players with dual nationality than any other national team in our history.

Uche Okechukwu, JJay and others if I'm right for reasons of professional convenience took up Turkish citizenship to mention just a few.

What's your point huh huh huh

Recently, I read a report of a Ghanian Player signed by Andrelecht from Asante Kotoko. No trial!!

The best players in Nigerian's premier league are either signed by North African clubs or taken on trial to obscure leagues. It appears that there is a major problem with our league. I would argue that the best Nigerian players are not there. Ifeanyi Mathew was the best midfielder in the Nigerian league but was subjected to trials in Lillestorm, Obaje is one of the highest scorers but had to go on trial with Spartak Moscow.

When we had Manu's under 20 side play with our best league teams, it exposed the quality of our league. Kids were running rings around experienced professionals.

I will disagree with your last paragraph.
Npl teams don't pluck players from the sky. Those same academies in Lagos, Ibadan, Kaduna etc supply players to Npl clubs just like they do to various cadet teams.

Players from those academies have 3 options,
1)get signed up by the Nigerian league clubs
2)get a contract abroad
3)hit the streets

The Ghanaian example you gave is a one-off. They are in the same poo as Nigeria. The best player in Ghana last 2 seasons, signed Pro contract with a Malaysian club. I can't remember his name.
I think we should concentrate and make our leagues better than looking for scouts to take our players out of the country.

Are u saying Mikel perseverance has to do with £80k irrespective whether is playing or not and not hungry means d guy wasn't ambitious.

Kog45
Firstly I said he was on £80k+ with every year and with savvy renegotiation from a good agent he shouldn't be less on on less than £120k a week.

Have no doubt £££ $$$ €€€ is still at the heart of the matter, maximising your income is still the core issue. Playing good football in a nice city with a Manager that has confidence in you are other considerations that are relative and subject to player preference.

Mikel has ABSOLUTELY nothing to prove near 10 years in a top team in a top league at the top of his game. His achievements are excellent and he still has a lot more to give in football.

One man's ambition is another man's failure, what is a successful career in footballhuh very open to debate. Mikel will always be in the Nigerian Hall of fame.
