If I were president or minister of power, I ll do away with d national grid, it's not helping us. Our power system should be decentralized. Federal, state and private companies should build these power plant and sell to the disco's also our Transco's should be privatize.

Private citizens and companies already have generators aka micro-grids. Many estates in Lekki are switching residents to such micro-grids.
However we lose the many advantages of economies of scale related to having mega power plants and transmission lines.

Such fosil fuel based micro-grids are relatively expensive to operate and they contribute to polluting our environment..
Solar Micro-Grids are relatively cheaper to operate on the long run.. though quite expensive to start up but its better on the long run... and its renewable

Its not as easy as you are saying. Does Nigeria have the cash to just keep adding new sources to the grid. Moreso, we have not fully maximized existing power stations. Why jumping to build new stations when we are yet to fully maximize those on ground. It doesn't make much sense.
